Chasing spare parts – No reply to my question on spare/replacement parts , pope after sale service non existent. Waste of time using this medium. Better to follow up problems thru local mower service dealers. Better advert of customer service number would help

Great value for money – 12 years of use on a good size yard and still runs great. Purchased on a tight budget, I chose this machine as it looked more robust than the other cheaper-end domestic brands. With the reputation of lower end trimmers I still didn't expect more than 4 or 5 years out of it for the price. Time has shown the full crank engine to be very durable and it is also used on other garden power equipment. A few people on other sites have commented that these Chinese engines are a good copy of a quality Japanese one. The 25.4cc on mine is a model 1E34F, which can be searched online for parts. If you're a bit handy, (or can con someone who is!) these machines seem well worth fixing as a lot of the common parts are quite cheap. Of course if you have to take it to the repairer might cost more than the machine is worth.

As mentioned at the top of the page, Pope must have stopped importing these machines a few years back and their models changed a few times. The good news is that these machines were a Chinese OEM product that was also imported under quite a few different brand names, so many parts are common with other makes. At the time of writing you can still find them under the Sanli, Parklander and a few other brands. Sanli has an extensive parts list on their site if your machine is similar.

Only problem I experienced was after a year I noticed it was becoming harder to start when using the starting method in the manual. Then I found if I started it with the throttle held wide open, rather than closed as per the instructions, it started second pull every time. Takes a little more co-ordination as you need to use both hands. Left hand holds and controls the throttle, and also keeps the machine steady on the ground. When the engine fires drop the revs back to a fast idle on the throttle and open the choke . Then you control the idle speed until the engine is warm. No starting problems ever since. I've just replaced the line head for the first time with the Speed Feed type which works really well. You need to make sure you get the right model kit for you particular machines mounting bolt. Don't forget to clean the spark arrester from time to time as after a few years they gradually block up causing loss of power (it is a gauze sock, attached to a collar that fits up into the muffler tail pipe). Good luck.

Does not hold line and unreliable engine – Spits out line every 2 meters or so, and engine often will not start, and when it does, will stop when replacing line. Adjusted the idle and will still spin the head. Do not buy this, it is dangerous, unreliable and a pain to use. Never had so much trouble before.

I have had my Pope 25.4cc bent shaft petrol line trimmer for 7 years – It has never let me down during that period and it is used on a regular basis on my acre & 1/4 property in NQ. more use in the wet season than in the dry. With the amount of work I have done with this trimmer I have had to replace the easy head four times, I wear them out. (Note) In seven years no one else has touched/used my trimmer, I mix the oil/ fuel myself and clean the air filter on a regular basis, have not had to replace the spark plug ever. Time I bought another Pope line trimmer (beats the rest).

Follow on from my first review Still have my Pope Ezy load whipper snipper, stopped working, Unable to buy another has been discontinued, so my Pope Ezy Load whipper snipper had it's first service by an authorised agent after 8 years, cost me less than $100.00 for the service and hasn't stopped working ever since. Still has the power and does the job. Good on ya Pope bring it back so I can buy another.

Pope 25.4cc line trimmer – I myself would not buy it again. Mine is extremely unreliable. It also comes with a hopeless head that spits out the trimming line after about three meters of work. I would not recommend this line trimmer to anyone. The only thing I can think good about it is that it is light. Its light. Engine unreliable. Has a hopeless head.
