we ordered directly through Proactiv, not realizing that it's subscription based. We encountered major problems with cancelling the subscription and the company kept sending products and charging us. The product is not great--didn't do anything for my teen daughter's acne.

It Worked – I'm in my 40's and still have breakouts a few times per year. I find using the 3 steps - face wash, toner and moisturiser really worked and completely clearing up my adult acne. Show details

Proactiv Oil Free Moisture - expensive sunscreen – I saw this selling recently at either David Jones or Myer for around $40. I can't believe it's so expensive (I got it as a xmas gift) because it's basically just sunscreen (it has an SPF15). It's called "oil free moisture", yet it's quite a thick and heavy product, even though the product claims to be a 'light-weight formula'. It looks, feels and… Read more

also smells like sunscreen, so you may as well buy a $10 to $15 sunscreen at the supermarket instead! I didn't find it to have any good moisturising qualities.

Do not trust this company – As everyone said, I was signed up automatically to receive products every 90days & charged. This happened without me agreeing or knowing. Scary! plus products didn't help my acne but made my skin dry, awaken and red. Horrible experience. Be careful everyone, can't trust this company

Proactiv Company - another online scammer – Lured by the marketing spiel and the apparently low price, on 12 May, I bought the Proactiv + 30 day 3-step plan for my 16yo son. He seems happy enough with the results, though the ingredients are less than harmless - they do not advertise the ingredients on the website. My trouble started in June when a new box arrived and my CC showed a charge… Read more

of $42 or thereabouts though the invoice showed that I would be charged about $35/month for the next 2 months and that this cycle would repeat. This is despite the the fact that I did not consciously sign up to receive an ongoing supply and the original order saying, "you have paid in full" or words to that effect. Going back to the www.proactiv.com.au website shows that, when one orders, the fine print says, "• Automatically become an ActivMember and receive a 90 day supply every 3 months • No minimum to buy • Cancel anytime" - that is, rather than allowing me to Opt-In as the law requires, Proactiv have automatically signed me up to an ongoing charge.

I have tried to send an email to the address provided on the invoice - this bounces back. Ringing the customer service number puts one through to a foreign call-centre where one it repeatedly told that the Terms & Conditions are "...blah, blah, blah". Cancelling is not easy, there is no option to do this on the website not in the emails sent upon order. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

PROACTIV is a total failure and bad customer service – I bought proactiv online because it was much cheaper than how much it cost you in pharmacy (Until I noticed that I got the first installment proactiv bill on my bank account without any of my concern). It's turned out PROACTIV LURES you pay cheap price in the beginning so they can automatically make you a member and charge & send you they product… Read more

forever. I then called the customer service to figure out what's going on and to cancel my membership but it was taking forever just to make that customer service lady agree to stop my membership but she said I still entitled to the 90 days supply which will cost me $129, whether I want it or not. That is a total crap!!!

The product itself is a total disaster for my skin, I never have blemish face this worst for my entire life, in the first 2 weeks I got all pustules, nodules and cysts all over my forehead, jaw and chin, plus it makes your skin extremely dry and dehydrated and itchy too. I gave it a try for another week but it getting worse because the blemish still there and my skin even more dry. The customer service lady tried to persuaded me to try the product for at least the next 3 months and said that was normal even though I explained to her that my face in its worst condition. I started to stop using proactiv and back to my routine and started using tea tree cream which is help a bit. Se people stay away on buying PROACTIV ONLINE!!!!

Bunch of crap – Tried proactiv some time ago, seemed to work at the start but is quite annoying having to use 3 bottles. After a while you start having to use more and your acne just seems to much for proactiv to handle. Only brought the trial version but never again. Have also been told by doctors that proactiv is overpriced crap.

Worst customer Service – Not only does the product itself not work. I cancelled my subscription months ago and since then moved house 2 times. They keep charging me for a product I have not received in a very long time. So after a 2 weeks of telling them I'm not paying and them telling me I am now on the National Registry, I have given in and I'm going to pay the $37 I "owe" them. I will also be contacting their head office and telling them about this problem.

GREAT – Proactiv is a an amazing skin care range for acne. It works really well on my skin and I love all of the products from Proactiv! The service is really good, I received my pack about a week after I purchased online. I'm really happy with Proactiv as I have tried numerous other skin care brands and they have never worked well. The products are great and do work better than anything else!

Not a good experience - embarrassing – At one stage I actually thought this product worked, it does not! If you are over the age of 18 or if you have horrible deep cystic acne then don't bother.. it won't work. I have oily skin and this dried my skin out so badly, my skin peeled and went horrible and flaky, which I tried to cover up with make up, but it just looked horrendous and… Read more

embarrassing! It's really not good for your skin to dehydrate it like that, and when you finally stop using it, your skin produces even more oil than it did before. The lady at the counter selling the product admitted to me that the toner is over-priced, and you can get a better working toner at the chemist or supermarket for a fraction of the price. Also, I have the dark spot corrector, which contains very potent chemicals and I will not be using. I gave this product 2 stars simply because I actually really like their green tea moisturiser, it's oil free and does not cause acne, which I will continue to use alongside my other products. So be warned. Nice moisturiser which doesn't cause acne Flaky peeling skin, did not help pimples

Warning for all buyers – Not only their products is not working, I bought the teens package for my teenage son, they will start charging you monthly installment, and keep sending you supplies. They charged me 2x instalment after my initial purchase, they keep charging me even though I stopped my membership after unknowingly being charged for the 1st installment. I have to… Read more

cancel my credit card just because of them. I have this same credit card for many many years, and I used it for many online store, saved in my accounts, so I have to manually change all of them. I consider myself of being careful when buying online, never have I fallen into something like this. I should have known that company that rely on celebrities to promote their products normally have bad products to begin with. They will hold your money ransoms until they "received" your returns. And lastly you send back something you didn't order at your own cost. Please be aware if you going to buy something from them. You would be better off getting Clearasil Pack from Chemist Warehouse for only $11.

Products not working, charged your credit card automatically, and keep on charging you even though you have cancel your "membership"

Terrible Customer Service – I am very frustrated with the customer service of Proactiv! I moved address and for some reason they charged me in two part payments rather than one meaning I did not recieve notice of the second payment until it was transferred to a collection agency! After paying the outstanding balance Proactiv said they had no communication with the agency… Read more

to know if I had paid it or not.

After I had to prove I paid them myself! I was told that I had to be treated as a new customer and buy the initial package again!

I wont be using their products ang longer as it is too much hassle than its worth.... Just stick to washing your face with store bought products!!

Sneaky payment practices

Dodgy – I recently visted a Proactive pop up store at a shopping center and was greeted by lots of lovely smiled and clear skinned girls trying to sell me the products. After being ushered into a demonstration without much of a choice I was showed all the products and had the products slapped on my face. I was shocked to see that they did no allergic … Read more

reaction test! I have extremely sensitive skin and I smiled as the liquid burned though my face. I was then of bared with celebrity names that 'enjoy' Proactive and use it. I bought a small trial pack.

I believe that these products do work, if you are happy to pay every month and possibly destroy your skin! The proactive products are so alcohol based that it's scary. When I smelt it I could tell that it wasnt going to be good for my sensitive skin! The products do remove the acne but just bring it back, forcing you to keep on buying more of the products. Nice people, fresh look No allergy test, pushed into purchase, pushed into demonstration
