The worst! – Absolutely piss pour company! My roof racks completely bounced off my roof came back down and damaged the roof! Was not even carrying the limit for weight. Awful to fit, instructions not clear – The HARDEST things to install. Absolutely rubbish instructions. I was trying to swap out from one vehicle that used K328 to another, it’s took three of us several hours to work out that it was just S shaped part from K1206 fitting kit that needed replacing. On the initial vehicle it took hours to install. It also took two of us over an hour… Read more

to work out how to take it off the old car.

I now am trying to place the all parts from k328, spare from k1206 and spare from the through bar kit and I have spare parts that do not appear in any of the images! (Noting the kids got into the boxes and now a two metal things and one black thing is missing - but does it matter? Who knows - they aren’t on any of the instruction sheets so I don’t know !)

What’s wrong with having some words?

Do not buy - can't carry a roof-top tent (mine fell on the highway)! Warranty not honoured! – I purchased the heavy duty cross bar roof racks and also had them installed by Supercheap auto to mount on to my Mitsubishi Triton 4x4. The load rating for my roof and the racks was 100kg. I mounted a roof top tent weight 58kg and an awning weight 10kg for a total load of 68kg. I carried this load without issue for 4 months before finally going on… Read more

our first camping trip. This was all on sealed roads. Upon return from our camping trip, I heard a tapping sound and before I could pull over to investigate, there was a loud sudden bang. This was the roof racks being ripped from the vehicle which then proceeded to bounce down the highway with tent and awning still attached. Thank god it didnt hit another car. The tent is ok but the cover and awning ruined. There are now dents in my door frame where the clamps ripped out. I contacted Prorack / Yakima Australia for a warranty claim. There was response was:

"Based on the information provided we do not accept fault for this claim.

Please refer to the attached document 'load ratings explained'.

Roof top tents must not be placed on top of Clamp Mounted crossbar systems. It would appear that the system worked effectively whilst transporting the load but then an issue occurred directly after using the tent. The extra static weight whilst using the tent can affect the clamps which is why the setup should not be used. You noted that you heard a rattling sound which indicates something was loose and this occurred after using the tent. The safety guide does recommend checking for tight fit before the start of each journey".

There you have it folks. Pretty reasonable of me to think a heavy duty system, mounted to 4x4, installed by professionals, could carry a measly 68kg and enable me to sleep in a tent when stationary. All up Im out of pocket $1200 with a tent I cant mount, and racks, awning, and tent cover destroyed. Not to mention the damage to my vehicle.

Please save yourself the heart ache and do not buy this product. Absolute scam.

Installation process - result. And query – Now I’m not a very handy person and if I had it my way I would have gotten some professional to install for me. That way I am rest assured knowing it is installed correctly. Unfortunately I’ve looked around town and the installation services were quoting us for around the price I’ve purchased these roof racks so… no thanks. After the… Read more ·  1

installation of these roof racks I am satisfied with myself and the product, it took me 1.5 hours and the instructions were clear as mud so watch the YouTube video if you are a visual type of person. I’ve had it for about 2 weeks now and it’s perfect, it hasn’t flown off at high speed and it looks fantastic on our car.

I might also add that there are wind noises too. I’ve never owned a roof rack let alone have anything loaded on the top of the car. So this is just one of the things you have to get used to. Hard to at first… so just raise the volume up to your favourite radio channel. Or in some cases (seen in other reviews below) - DO NOT open your sun roof.

Though I must admit I haven’t placed any load on it yet - I am CERTAIN it’ll handle anything (under 75kg) just fine.

I recommend this product to anyone after a good Pro Rack that does the job and for its relatively cheaper price on the market.

Another thing I’ve been burdened with is whether I have installed them correctly. There’s a bit of a gap above between the rack and the rail. The first photo attached relates.

Can Pro Rack staff or any professional reading this review confirm whether it is supposed to look like that?

Thanks,

Kev

Prompt response to solve a problem – Recently purchased Prorack roof bars and mounting kit from our local Supercheap store. A bit wary – I'm wary of putting my 20 kg kayak on this HD roof rack (Prado). Doesn't feel as secure and strong as I'd like when giving it a good shake test. quickly. It is interesting that similar instruction/ part problems are continuing for buyers across parts for various vehicles. I also want to fit a 5kg awning but again I'm wary of the capacity to hold it hope to see accounts of people having no problems before I buy the kit. The video's are great but you have to find the one that matches your vehicle and the rack you bought. A useful bit of customer service would be a link to the specific video via email. I have tried a couple of times to update the original review but it never appears - hopefully it will this time. Happy to say all is good with the weight problem. Prorack doesn't supply the bits and pieces you might need, when they are lost, for example. You will need to buy the full kit. Fortunately, I was able to buy one from an automotive store from an alternative source at significantly lower price. I think Prorack are value for money.

Perfect fit, pretty easy to install – I bought P-Bars and fitting kit for a BMW saloon. This is the first time I’ve fitted roof bars to a vehicle that didn’t have rails, and it was very easy. still us the bars on a different vehicle and just get a new fitting kit. These were extremely good value and seem very sturdy; I got them relatively cheaply at Supercheap Auto, with a discounted fitting kit from Repco - total cost was just $320. I find that they are quieter than the aero style bars that I used to have.

A disaster on the road – Purchased with fitting kit 2 months ago. Carrying two kayaks on heavy duty Prorack bars fitted with jbars for the kayaks. Got caught in a cross wind while driving and the prorack bars broke free from the roof of my Ranger, depositing the whole assembly on the road. Kayaks, jbars, and straps all held together as one, thankfully. A miracle it didn't cause a traffic accident. Show details

I dont recommend them – Car: 1997 pajero I bought the t17 HD racks and was sold the 327 fitting kit. The kit is for rails not gutter mounts. This was the recommended kit on the prorack webpage and on repcos system. We went back and swapped it for the 324 which is for gutters. The rack at the rear sits on the roof with no gap. hole in the middle) in the user guide is shown nowhere and so in the videos so I inserted it under the rubber roof protector and I hope it is the place where it should be. What really worries me is the lack of support and 100% clear guidance for installation of the each and particular kit. People should not be guessing how and where the parts should be. These are roof racks and it has to be 100% safe for all customers. People will be putting extendable ladders on them and heavy load and without proper installation they can unitentionally kill someone on the road and that is no joke.

when driving with no load, so often forget they're even there. I had the racks professionally fitted locally for about $150 which saved a lot of stress. Very happy with the quality, will be giving them a good run for our upcoming holidays.

Note: The fitting kit doesn't come with the roof racks (as a lot of people have complained about). You need to research your car type and purchase your car-specific variety fitting kit separately for ~$60-80. Otherwise, I definitely recommend getting your hands on a set of these bad boys if you're after a good quality product and don't mind spending the cash.
