Does Qantas cash card have any fees

No, doesn't

Technically it doesn't, however they give you poor exchange rates which make it much more expensive then using your bank credit card. It is the same as buying money at the airport, usually 20% worse than at a suburban office of the same company.

This is the only contact form I have found. I am a lifetime member of Qantas Club and have been trying to log in to my apparently dormant cash card account. Changed pin when requested at least twice. Still cannot log in. QC No: 0042515

No it’s not. The card is very inflexible

No as far as I know you can't but you might as well get one for you husband there are ways to get it free if you google it so that he can also accumulate frequent flyer points as well and the points can be gifted to each other. When we go overseas we always use the one card but my wife just got hers for when she does shopping to accumulate more points. I also would like to point out that we have never encountered any difficulties using this card overseas

Just before I departed from Japan at an ATM I checked the JPY balances for my wifes and my card Thinking that when I got back to Australia I would cash out the remaining JPY to Australian dollars and then transfer that back to my Australian bank account
however upon returning to Australia I opened the app and the website but could not find my JPY balances anywhere and hence I could not convert it back to Australian dollars , What has happened to the remaining JPY I had in the purse whilst I was in Japan ?

go on to their helpline - you will EVENTUALLY get to talk to someone - I had to request a special form to be sent to me to cash out my money - my card had been locked and it was a torturous process

What are the steps I follow to withdraw money from atm

Hi, the card is just like a normal bank card. You insert the card and follow the prompts, enter your pin no. and the amount you need to withdraw. You can choose what currency to withdraw in if overseas. You will be charged an amount to withdraw cash of approx. $1.95 AUD. Of course, you must have the cash in your account first though. We found it better to use the card when purchasing larger items or meals to avoid the $1.95 fee for cash. But of course you do need some cash for smaller purchases.

Julie C, I would not touch Qantas cash with a bargepole. They left me high and dry on a recent trip to Vietnam when I couldn't use my and my partners card. Their Customer care leaves a lot to be desired. It has taken me 2 weeks to get the cash out of our cards. Try some other cash card!

I am going to Cuba, will Qantas Cash Card allow me to withdraw cash there ? At an ATM ?

Laurie B.
Laurie B.

Sorry djh I cannot answer that question as I am only a card user like yourself. You could try asking Qantas Cash themselves, but I doubt if they could even answer that question truthfully. But considering my experiences in the USA I would seriously consider NOT using this card in Cuba. Good luck and have a safe trip.

The limit in the USA seemed to be set by the owner of the ATM. At one it was $600, anothr $400. On the$400, I immediately withdrew a second $400 with no problem except that meant a second ATMfee in addition to the Qantas fee

Hi
Although the QANTAS Cash (now called QANTAS Money) card can use Euro's, the Czech crown is still the official currency of the Czech Republic. Some major resorts and motels may accept Euros, the exchange rate is not great. [http://www.myczechrepublic.com/basics/czech_currency.html]

Given the scathing comments, you would think Qantas cash might have responded and taken some action to improve there terrible customer service. Has anyone found any real service when they are overseas and encountered a problem?

You will not have a problem unless you have a problem. Try sorting out a problem when you are overseas and trying to obtain a new card which they will only send to your home address

I was charged twice for the same thing. Called customer service who sorted it out promptly but I did have to pay for the international phone call

Has anyone had any experience using this in Japan? Were the ATMs correctly able to access the JPY loaded onto the card? or did they do the double conversion as suggested from some reviewers when using EURO in Europe?

I used the card in Japan one year, not since then have I used it. I knew how much I had and how much I took out (kept a diary during travels) by the time I got home there were discrepancies between what I believed I had left/taken out compared to what was left. Amounted to about 5000yen lost, close enough to $60 Australian. Never loaded money since nor will I.

I have the qantascash card and loaded only euros on it...I withdrew some euros from an ATM machine in Venice and it converted the euros to Australian dollars and my account was debited by the Australian dollar amount which I didn't have loaded on the card. So I subsequently lost money on the transaction.
Why did it convert it if I had euros loaded?

2 answers
Scott

In general you must specifically chose the debit euro option. Sometimes this is hard or impossible to find, Some ATM s do not appear to offer this feature but if your transacting with a merchant they will often ask Euro or Australian dollar. The card will always default to Australian dollar if no option is chosen even if only euros are loaded.

Same problem in Prague best to always have Aussir dollars and possibly US on the card as well. For some reason different countries its not cut and dry. I hate conversions and ATM fees
More research and chat lines like this are thr only way we perfect it.
Thanks for sharing your experience

How do I transfer the US dollars I have on my Qantas card to another travel card eg CBA?

1 answer
Johno
Johno

You are best offloading this via AUD bank transfer account if doing it domestically. But there are some hefty overheads in doing this.
You can watch the currency exchange markets and transfer it to AUD when the AUD is low against the greenback, and transfer it to USD to CBA card when the AUD gets stronger again. This will help offset the fees imposed by both cards.

Generally, travel money cards do not want to easily assist people in transferring between competitor products.
