Redmax RZT54 issues – Powerful engine. Comfortable seat. 9 hours old and experiencing serious issues already. Left drive handle is sticky and doesn’t drive straight at full power. Annoying, but here’s the worst bit. Mowing regular turf and bang, the whole pulley assembly from the engine drive shaft fell apart! Found the bolt, spacer and wager on the lawn. Drove up on… Read more
ramps to look underneath , the pulley just hanging there with bent mounting attachment points. I seriously hope this is covered under warranty !!
Makes the job quicker – Our old Toro Zero Turn was a very good machine, but it's Briggs and Stratton engine 'ate a part of its own carby' and [Content Removed] itself...! I was away on business at the time that it happened and I needed to set the wife up with a reliable, easy to use zero turn mower to maintain the property till I got home. settled on the Redmax. What a good decision! It was cheaper than the competition, It's easy to use, comfortable and efficient. Redmax is made in Charlotte, North Carolina USA by Husqvarna. It has a fabricated cutter deck which is better and stronger than a pressed steel one. The frame is very sturdy and well built, so no worries about the quality. I do all my own mower maintenance and servicing (and for others too) and this mower ticks all the boxes. We only have a 3 acre block and the 54" cut is a real time saver and does the whole yard quicker than the old one ever did. However, sometimes it seems be too big... Maybe we should have gone for the smaller 42". The 54" is a bit big to get into some of the tight areas. The only other complaint is that our old Toro had the park brake incorporated into the control handles which was intuitive and easy to use. The Redmax has a separate park brake with its own interlock. So, if you do things in the wrong order, the motor cuts and needs to be restarted. It just needs bit of retraining the brain and it's then ok to live with. The Redmax is also a bit slower than our old mower but that's no hardship with the wider cut. Other than that, we are very pleased with the build quality, the comfort and ease of operation. The 24hp V-twin Kawasaki FR730V is powerful, smooth and quiet and doesn't drink like a fish! It seems to work best on about ½ throttle which is fine because if you are running at 10-10th's all the time, it probably means you need a bigger machine..! So far, we have put +60 hours on it with no problems at all. We are very, very happy with it.
