Absolute cr^p when it come to mowing a lawn with some consistency. Mower deck all over the place and has trouble keeping a level line. Unless your lawn is a bowling green look for something else. Show details
junk promoted as high quality – overall poor quality. was sold to me as a deluxe member of the Husqvqrna group. welp. good mower deck, otherwise difficult to run. why can't I give it a zero star? Show details
Tough as nails – 6 months old, doesn't miss a beat, have 10 acres, lots of trees and slopes, lots of branches on the ground, smashes through it all, great traction in the wet, if you want a bowling green lawn maybe not for you as the heavy fabricated deck does gouge in the lawn when turning sharply, one pedal operation for forward and reverse, perfect machine for us, love it Show details
quickly turns to crap! – Sure has a strong motor but that's where it ends! Reinforced deck doesn't seat properly so after every use there's grass stuck between the frame and the housing. Absolute pain in the neck. Decking lifting/adjustment system is crap and flimsy. Turning circle is a joke, not sure what they used to measure it but it's pitiful! Hour meter doesn't… Read more
record proper times and a brand new "straight out of stock" mower came with 14 hrs on the meter. Despite taking a pic as proof I was called a liar. Now after 2.5 years the front wheel "falls" off!! WTH!!! I clean and maintain my equipment after every use, I've owned a total of 6 ride ons in my 60+ yrs and this is the absolute worst of the lot!!! DO NOT BUY, EVEN ON PRICE!
Early spindle fail , hour meter is reading twice the actual hours ,other weaknesses – Waranty refused on damaged main spindle , no impact damage ,accusing me of lying about it,the only positive was the dealer helped me with cost price parts to repair , cheaply made , less than one tank of fuel , it reads 10.7 hours , no it hasn,t been left on , and yes it should have an ignition sensed hour meter , no wonder it hasn,t got a husqvarna badge , totally disapointed , Show details
Lousy quality – The motor and deck are superb. Almost everything else is pathetic. It is in for repairs more than at home. The dealer blames me for its problems as he says it is not suitable for my situation. It was recommended the owners son as the best for me. It is a $7,500 54 inch cut model. The dealer does not keep belts and sells non genuine blades. Show details
2 Stars only because it uses a Kawasaki engine – This is for the Redmax YT2348F. First the good points - the 23hp Kawasaki engine, it is fantastic. It makes light work of wet or dry grass, long or short. The engine is the reason for the 2 stars, without it, I would have given the mower 0 stars. Of course the engine is made by Kawasaki, not Redmax, but kudos for using it in their machine. Second… Read more
good point - the 48" cut. My last machine was a Husqvarna 18hp 42 inch cut. Amazing what the extra 6" does to cut down the time. I have a acre of lawn with a dozen mature trees and a few raised garden beds plus my house :) So, the bad points from annoying to worse. Filling with petrol, minor issue. Take the cap off and about 45mm down the diameter of the pipe reduces by about 10-15mm leaving a ridge. Pour the petrol in too quickly and it splashes back out from the ridge - minor, but very annoying. Turning on the mower, if not aware, the key has to be positioned in the centre rather than all the way around. If its not in the centre, you can't use reverse. Why? What is the reason for that? Reversing. I have not ridden any machine ever, car, forklift, tractor, mower, go cart, truck, anything where you have to pull back with your foot on the reverse pedal. Why? Really weird . . . Getting on and off. On the one side you have the large rubber/plastic shute (on my mower its is quite large) on the other side you have a 30cm/1' stick to choose the height of cut. I've caught my shorts on the stick twice so far. (I've had the mower for three weeks). Why is the stick so long? Because of the fabricated deck. Its quite heavy and you need the leverage to lift it up and down. Now we come to the deck. As mentioned, I have a lawn. Here is the problem with the mower that makes it deserve 0 stars. While mowing, stop suddenly and you are left with a small semi circle gouge. Mow sideways on a very slight slope and you leave a long gouge behind you. Don't dare turn while mowing or you leave a nice circular gouge in your lawn. My lawn which I loved with my Husqvarna, now with the Redmax looks like crop circles. The only way to mow without causing these problems - mow in a straight line, if you have to turn, turn the mower off and reposition your self before turning the cutter on again. Pathetic.
Value for money, tough as nails – 2wd mower maneuvers as expected, will go up steep slopes with the diff lock engaged, but don't expect miracles. I have cut grass up to 5 feet tall with ease, but have to go over twice if clean cut required. Powerful motor, operates in extreme heat all day. Fragile placement of blade belt can succumb to large sticks. Our mower is used in rough terrain. Show details
Think twice - unless you have completely flat lawn – I really wanted to love this mower. Built by Husqvarna (there’s a very similar and comparable Husky model with the similar specs - TS242TXD). It’s Kawasaki engine is exceptionally powerful. I upgraded from a much smaller and older Craftsman LT1500 and the difference is huge. You can feel the power. All the features stand out - fab deck, forward… Read more
and back pedal, mow in reverse feature. It feels solid and quality. Unfortunately it cuts horribly. Leaves deep lines and step cuts on a very slight grade. Does the same on flat ground. The issue in my opinion is the fab deck is so heavy and rigid that if you mow on a slight grade, slight hill or encounter a slight bump the fab deck barely moves with the terrain and cuts into the ground or leaves a step cut in the lawn. It also leaves cuts in the lawn even on the slightest turn. The anti scalp wheels help a bit - but they struggle due to the deck being so heavy. The steel that holds the anti scalp wheels in place frequently bends since the deck is so rigid. I find that every time I mow the lawn I need to hammer the steel holding those wheels back into place. This was recommended by my dealer when I complained about the poor cut and continual bending of the anti scalp wheels. By the end of the mow the wheels have flattened out again. The result is that after I’ve hammered the wheels into place the cut is ok, but by the last 40% the lawn is cutting terribly again. There is a design issue with the deck that means those anti scalp wheels are critical - but they aren’t held in strong enough to prevent a horrible cut, and the mower fails. I’ve complained to the dealer but they don’t have answers - I believe they know this is an issue. My previous mower the Craftsman LT1500 had a pressed deck (not fab) and it cut beautifully. The stamped deck while not as strong had movement so it was able to move with the slight changes in terrain. A big advertised feature is the tight turning circle. However - if you try anything other than a super wide turn it will leave a step cut in the lawn. I’ve started turning off the cutter every time a turn is required and starting again. This slows down the time it takes to mow. Try going around trees? Forget it it will look terrible. Finally the anti diff lock will at some point tear up your lawn if the grass is damp in the slightest - so you can only mow when it’s 100% dry. If you have a paddock to mow where you don’t care how it looks this mower will be great. The fab deck is big, heavy and strong and I haven’t had to replace any spindles in 100 hours. But if you want your lawn to look good - do not buy this mower.
