Why is Product Review not taking down the 1000s of fake reviews from this listing?
I've also reported this to Product Review. I hope they take it more seriously as this company continues to thrive and mislead more people. They provide no actual value, but leech off unsuspecting business owners with their tactics. It borders illegal, but they are just inside legal. A very interesting business model which I hope the ACCC, Fair Trading and other authorities will clamp down on.
I cannot believe how many fake reviewers there are. No real person leaves 5 star reviews for people sending them bills that provide literally no value other than paying a cheaper bill on your behalf.
They must be paying to not have them taken down. This is sooo illegal now. Good thing is the ACCC is looking into it now.
How does this scam get over 1000 5 star reviews? Could it be anything to do with they all only review one company? THIS one?
they all seem to name some Sarah who "really helped them"! LOL
Sarah"took payment in a prompt manner". I bet she did.
It seems Product Review could do some reviewing of these fake reviews; it makes you wonder how a company whose job it is to vet reviews and scammers let this one get away with these obvious fake reviews.
Apparently fake reviews can be a service that companies can pay for. About $1 a review I heard. But according to ACCC and Fair Trading these practices will be in breach of competition laws. So if it is proven, they will be in some hot water indeed.
Why is it $99 for 1 year with Registry Australia and $89 for 3 years with ASIC?
it’s easy to transfer your domain name to another host, which i highly recommend you do. What these guys are doing is unethical. Most domain hosts will do the transfer for you now, all you need to do is contact them.
Because they are a scam company ripping off business owners
Edited: When a negative review goes up, 5 positive ones follow by people who have joined on the day of the review.
Still at their dodgy tricks, I just got caught, will read bills more carefully in the future. Mike.
Is it mandatory to register one business?
Go to ASIC. Don't go through these scammers and fake reviewers
Please explain why all the 5star reviewers` have only one review. It is obviously all fake, just check the dates of these fake reviews. 4-5 of them in the last 3 days only. I am reporting your activity to Productreviews.com.au!
and productreviews.com.au doesn'g give a damn, these scammers just created 20 fake profiles to give 5 stars to this scam. I hope I find an alternative for Productreviews.com.au as I can`t take it seriously after seeing this...
Totally agree. registry.com.au are total sharks
I notified productreview of all these fake 5 star reviews. They don't even bother to reply.
The fake 5 star reviews from people who only ever do ONE review, just for these scammers, keep coming.
Productreview have no mechanism to stop it. PATHETIC.
I've just looked through the 359 five star reviews. They are 99% from people who have given a ONE review only, a review just for Registry Australia. That is statistically impossible. They also just talk about the friendly, helpful person on the phone. There's is nothing about the products they sell.
Look at the other scammers like Business Name Renewal and Registration, who do exactly what Registry Australia does. They have 100% one star reviews;
https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/business-name-renewal
https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/registration-pty-ltd
Also look at the spread of the Registry Australia reviews, they are either 1 star or 5 star, with hardly anything in between. Up to August 2020 this company had an average rating of 1.2, and miraculously since then it skyrocketed.
Not only are business owners like myself being scammed, productreview needs to investigate whether they are being so to.
According to the ASIC site, 3rd party providers cannot , 'Send you a letter in the mail offering to renew your business name earlier than 2 months before your EXPIRY date.' Yet, the expiry date of my business is 4 November 2021, which is 3.5 months away. This is correctly labelled on your letter so this is no error. You are adding a 100% markup, without notifying the recipient.
You cannot, 'Collect payment from you for a business name renewal fee earlier than 2 months before the business name expiry date.' Yet you want payment by BPay, Mastercard, Visa or American Express, and you want it NOW. That is illegal.
ASIC send the renewal request by EMAIL, at least 30 days prior. So you and a host of others jump in months early to the renewal.
Here is the proof in black and white that Registry Australia Pty Ltd, is breaking the law;

Look at all these fake reviews!!
Screw Productreviews. They are not a valid review site anymore! They let scammers fool people and they dont do crap about it
I have also reported the fake 5-star reviews, in the small hope that the weight of accumulated complaints will have the fake reviews removed. I have had success with this before, when the unregistered company KM Heating and Cooling Plumbers had their page filled with nearly identical fake reviews that followed exact the same pattern as in this page, and in that case my report succeeded in having the fakes removed. I hope for similar success here.
On a related issue: the pattern of fake reviews seems to be commonplace in this website and similar review sites. I suspect there are bad actors running dedicated services to publish fake reviews. In all cases I find the fakes to be about the same size and have similar generic wording. It would be fascinating to discover who these people are and how they operate. Perhaps they are "bots". Quick web searches don't reveal any fake reviews services on offer, but perhaps they are no so obviously found. I notice there are services from good actors that analyse reviews and detect fakes.
this page lost all its credibility. Reviews are fake and they dont do anything about it. When I contacted them they simply told me they do not delete the fake reviews.
I recently paid $199 to re-register my business 29th September, mistakenly thinking that this was a direct request from ASIC. The form does say this is not a renewal notice right at the bottom which makes me think that it would not be notice by the person handling the request. It should be displayed at the top in Iarge bold letter. I have now had a reminder from ASIC that payment is due: $87 for 3 years. Why has it not been paid? Do not pay the registration: refund my money., What have you done with my payment? There is clearly deception involved as your company send out reminders prior to ASIC's official reminder. I wish to have a full refund as the registration has not been paid and I would obviously prefer to pay the official amount direct to ASIC. Please respond as soon as possible as I will be raising a dispute with my bank and will be contacting ASIC.
Rupert Sherwood
Hello Rupert, than you for your review, I have got the same letter as you for my business renewal, and I almost payed, your review saved me $200. I was confused with the bottom writing, saying this is not a bill, so I decided to google for review before I make payment. Than God I did. From my previous experiences a always google for review before I pay someone. Thank you again!
I’m pleased that you were not fooled into paying unnecessary amounts of money. In fairness to the company, when I complained directly to them by phone, they agreed to refund the balance of $112 as they had already paid the $87 to ASIC which has now confirmed that my licence has been renewed.I’m still waiting for payment but I have received an email from them that they have processed the refund.
Wow! I'm so glad I read this, I was just querying why it was so expensive and who they are and why they are sending me renewals when I never registered with them.
Did anyone manage to get a refund from these guys? I stupidly didn’t read the information they sent and paid it thinking it was the official renewal. I’ve lodged a dispute with my bank and keeping my fingers crossed!
I did the same have just put in a bank dispute and lodged a complaint with fair trading. Hoping to get money back but I am not hopeful. I only realised when I got another letter from another scamming company trying to do the same
Did you get your money back?
You can try to get your bank involved saying that they send mail that customers can be wrongly take as ASIC's one.
If you speak to them, and it is within the 30 day money back guarantee, you are likely to get it back. Alternatively, more hassle, but if you report them to the relevant authorities ACCC etc you may then get a refund (if you are out of the 30 day period). They do register the business name, but they charge double to do so. Provide no actual value to you, as ASIC will send you a notification to pay via their website instead for half the cost.
How does this Registry Australia get the information ie business name, address of business owners, renewal dates etc? Is this freely available information or are they buying it from somewhere to be able to continue with running this hustle!
The domain name they bought it from other supplier, but my information is freely available online, and that Is their basis of buying it from the supplier to sell To us in a higher Price.
They say that "We are an ASIC registered Agent". Can't ASIC deregister them?
Who knows and I really don’t care to be honest. Don’t use this service and just wait for your letter from ASIC
Have you ever tried to report a non-email scam to ASIC? I tried once (unrelated to this) via phone, they told me to use their web site - all their website has under reporting scam is a bunch of information on looking out for scams where all the links lead in a big circle. The closest I got to contacting them was a website feedback form that asked if the page was helpful or not. (I ticked 'NO') The letter I received from Registry arguably breaches the ASIC terms and conditions v2 Sections 7.1,7.2, 12.3b and 12.4. It could be dealt with by ASIC if there was any means to reasonably contact them about this!
Absolute Scammers, why are they allowed to operate ?
Because they have just enough disclosures on their letter to avoid being misleading and deceptive. People who don't read the letter will be tricked but those who do will realise and ignore the letter. That's the Court's view anyway.
I only picked it up when I was adding a new account to my bank transfers. Made me look closer. Even so, still went to google to check I wasn't missing something important. And here I am...
I got caught out but am about to claim a refund. Read the T&Cs - it says the following: 3. Money Back Guarantee If you feel that we have not provided you with the level of premium service you expected from us, we offer a 30-day money back guarantee. Please get in contact with us in this case and we will explain our refund process. external link Fingers crossed I get my money back.
i paid thru paypal , yes i got my money back, but the domain i have no choich but to buy it. cos no way i could, they claim it, and the only way to obtain it is to pay them 100 dollar
dodgy as anything. They keep spamming me with letters and emails. The company is owned by Robert Kaay. His email is rob@robkaay.com and he lives in WA. Not going to post his home address here. Bit if he keeps spamming me I will just have to create a website with all his details to see how he likes it.
Scammers. Just got a totally officially unofficial looking letter from them to register my business name for only $249.
Only $249 for something you can purchase from ASIC for $85? What a bargain mate.
