Repco Battery Charger 9 Stage RBC8SS3

Great valua Battery Charger – My poor old Arlec Charger 6 finally quit on me after more years than I can remember, so I purchased the Repco RBC8SS3. I have used it on a 120 AH deep cycle battery at half charge and on topping up my PC Challenger battery after a long period of disuse. In both cases it performed above expectations and I love the feedback amps, volts and percent charge readings, plus the 6 volt capability also. Looking forward to many years of use with this gem of a unit.
Purchased in at Repco Armidale for $156.75.
Perfect charger for constantly keeping battery fully charged and maintained – Needed charger for boat battery that could be connected when boat not in use to ensure the battery is maintained at full charge constantly, without the perils of “overcharging” the battery and destroying it. “Float” function in the charger is important to maintain the charge / voltage in the battery without boiling it away so an Intelligent multi stage charger required. The Repco RBC8SS3 (12V 8 amp multi stage charger) is perfect for the requirement:
The 9 charging and function stages: Diagnosis, Desuplhation, Pre-charge, Soft start, Bulk charge (constant current), Absorption (Constant voltage), Analysis, Recondition and Maintain (Float)
It is rated as IPX65, so I don’t sit it in the weather but it is quite safe sitting on the side of the boat out of direct weather (rain and sun)
For a 100amp Marine battery, the charger at 8 amp has more than enough capacity to re-charge after use and then maintain between trips. The charger stays connected 100% of the time.
The charger has a SAE connector on the end and is supplied with an SAE ring connector cord (which I have attached permanently to the battery terminals) for plug and play, plus it has a SAE cord with alligator clips (plug and play as well)
It has and LCD screen, multiple LED indicators (for Power on, status charged, charging or “error”), Mode button to select screen output (display Volts, Amps or % charged), Type button to select battery type (Wet lead acid, Calcium, AGM or Gel) – It doesn’t charge Lithium batteries. Been using it for 2-3 months now and it works perfectly. PROS • Well built – solid and well-built • Fully auto “intelligent” charger • 9 stages to repair, charge and maintain • SAE connector good for easy plug and play (versatile) • IPX65 – good for leaving outside (but not directly in the rain) • Selectable modes and battery types (6 and 12v selectable) • 5-year warranty is good CONS • Have found no cons with this charger Doesn't charge Lithium batteries but knew that before purchase (other models can do Lithium)
