Extremely poor hot water system

The unit is extremely unreliable, often taking lots of messing around turning the water on and off again to get hot water, which is erratic in the temperature range when it does come. Show details

Piece of Rubbish, Rheem has terrible expensive customer service

Our 5 year old gas booster is only heating water intermittently. I called the Rheem service number and was was told it would be a $261 service fee just to have someone look at it. They told me someone could come the next day, I reluctantly agreed.

The following day I had to work from home to wait for them, which is inconvenient for my job but anyway... Just before midday I get a call saying they can't come today and will have to re-schedule to another day. I can't be sitting around all day every day waiting for you "technicians" to show up.

I've cancelled the service call and I will sort it out myself....

Would not recommended Rheem at all, this unit is what my builder installed - they must get a good deal or some kickbacks on them. Show details

UPDATE: It's all sorted now and I didn't have to rely on Rheems expensive technicians that don't come on the day the say they will. It also cost me practically nothing.

Absolutely worst ever!

I had nothing but trouble with the Rheem Pronto16. I was told less than 1yr of purchase it had a manufacturing fault but I could not replace it with another model or get my money refunded. It's always fluctuated severely with off & on freezing or really hot water as you use it..burning yourself or freezing you! Now it's packed up completely! I will never buy a Rheem again because of terrible product quality and terrible customer service.
I won't even rate it 1 star it's been that bad! Show details

Appalling customer service - unit broke after a few months

We purchased this unit in Nov 22 and the fan came on everytime you turned on the water - hot or cold. 3 plumbers have looked at it and all say it shouldn’t be doing that and to call Rheem. Rheem want to charge me $200 for coming to look at a unit I have already paid people to look at - Show details

No good at all

Water temp goes from scalding hot to ice cold. Maybe after 1 minute. Wait 5 minutes and it comes back. For another minute. Huge waste of water. I did find that on the lowest heat setting and by continually adjusting the cold water flow I can get a reasonable shower however it should not be that way. Now it makes a funny vibration when heating. The unit is only 3 months old. I sadly miss the old aquamax hot water tank I had for over 25 years but I fell for the adverts. I am at the point of throwing the rheem away and going back to the old tank style. Total waste of money and time. Never again. Show details

I will never buy any Rheem product AGAIN

I was in a panic when my Junkers blew -literally-I went from a Junkers which had been on the wall for 30 years + to this Rheem which does not provide instant hot water as advised by the plumbing firm.
On the day I was blindly panicked being without a hot water service & was highly motivated to purchase a replacement unit ASAP.
From the outset the Rheem did not, never has provided instant hot water unlike the Junkers which DID, instead the Rheem pumps out HEAPS....of COLD water!!! Rheem sent a tech to fix & it's not fixed. It can't be fixed it has sum design flaw. I will never purchase any Rheem product ever again. I would not even tolerate a replacement Rheem on my wall Show details

RHEEM Pronto heater series 834 hot water

RHEEM PRONTO 834 series Hot water system takes at least 10 seconds to start to heat water , yes all that water is wasted ! . When you turn off the hot water for a moment , and turn it back on , it has do go thru the process of cycling . Let’s all that cold water thru 1st for at least 10 seconds , then warm water then hot again . These is wasting a lot of water . I now have to use buckets to save water . Plus the gas to reheat the water in the pipes again, and again . DO NOT INSTALL ONE OF THESE ... Show details

Warranty not worth anything

Bought a Rheem hot water system in May last year - by March this year it had broken. When it was initially installed it took a long time for the hot water to arrive but we would put up with that. When it broke our plumber replaced it as we did not want to wait or pay for Rheem to come out, believing that a less than 12 month old system should still be under warranty. Our plumber then returned the system. Since then we have had no help from Rheem. I have left 5 messages, all of which go unanswered. I would never buy a Rheem again. Show details

The worst heating system I’ve ever had

Since being installed it takes 20 minutes to heat up, the red fault light has come on twice, it it ticks over like a motor trying to start have rang plumbers who installed it 3 times and rang the fault line with rheem 4 times and all they keep saying is there is nothing wrong with it

After receiving the message from Rheem it took a couple of months as the original plumbers still kept saying that nothing was wrong with the system a new plumber was found and turned out that the system was faulty. So since changing the system i have had no problems with the new one at all works perfectly fine. Id like to thank the people that messaged me for their help great customer service Show details ·  1

Great customer service

When my unit Rheem 20 started to leak and it was only 5 years old I was very unhappy when plumber who installed it said I would need new one without opening it but I insisted that I want it checked with Rheem and to my surprise after some misunderstanding from my side they send a tehnician who found that the heat exchanger was gone and that was covered by warranty and they changed it same day So impressed Thanks Rheem Show details

Have had a Rheem 20 instantaneous hot water installed 4 weeks ago and am getting error code 79.
Turned power off and on and reset but has thrown the same code 2 days later.
