Robinhood Slideout Rangehood

I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of response. My Robinhood rangehood started making loud clanking noises and lost suction within 7 months. Since it’s still under warranty, I applied claim on June 20, 2025. A technician came to inspect and I was told that the product was faulty and would be replaced. I've waiting for it to be replaced for… Read more
multiple months now but nothing. I made numerous calls to the customer service but I’ve gotten zero assistance.
This is completely unacceptable and please stay away from Robinhood to avoid similar experience.
Better Than Renovating Your Kitchen Cabinets – This is a copy of a 15~20 year old Fisher & Paykel model that is no longer available. It has the advantage of having mostly the same dimensions as the F&P, however the quality is lower and some part substitutions cause problems. Like screw heads that need 2mm more cabinet clearance than the original F&P model. And thinner front handles that leave… Read more
5mm more gap to the cabinet doors. You can re-use your old F&P handle if that is a problem because the screw hole dimensions are the same. I was able to install the Robinhood into the same cabinet cavity and it looks as good as the original F&P.
The installation instructions are quite adequate for top mounting but no dimensions are provided for side mounting. This is easy to get wrong, and if you do get it wrong then the plastic sides will probably break sooner rather than later. Take your time. Do not trust a cheap tradie to do the installation.
Fan performance and noise is about the same as the F&P, with Fan Speed 1 being quite acceptable but Fan Speed 2 and 3 becoming annoying. The 2 supplied halogen lights illuminate the cooktop like daylight and can be easily replaced with LED types if desired. The fan and light switches are easy to operate. A 'door switch' on the slide-out filter enables both the fan and lights when opened approximately 10mm and disables them when closed.
Both stainless steel and white front handles are supplied. Ducting options include top round, top rectangular and rear rectangular with a top round 150mm adapter being supplied. For recirculation instead of ducting, the duct blank is supplied but the taller front handle/facia is not, so you'll need to replace the standard handle with a custom made facia.
Lasted for 10 years! – As with other reviewers plastic broke on one side so slideout piece hung downwards. Maybe heat over time turns plastic brittle? Been installed after kitchen update 10 years ago so can’t really grumble. Show details
Cheap plastic - avoid! – Buy another range! Just another item for landfill. The plastic used for this slideout exhaust perishes and breaks down way before the unit stops. Have been happy with this range until plastic perished and now drops on one side. The distributor put be in touch with repairer (Prestige) but to fix is way over the price of a new unit. I always thought Robin Hood was reputable product- not so sure - will look elsewhere for replacement
Cheap plastic – Our unit worked fine until about four years after installation when the plastic began disintegrating where the body is screwed into the cabinet. As a result, the slide out has fallen down on one side. The whole unit will now have to be replaced. Show details
Worked fine until it fell apart but then was replaced through great customer service and working fine again – The range hood was installed in 2016 just before we purchased the house. Late 2017 we noticed pieces of plastic breaking off around the screw before long the plastic holding the screw cracked off and the whole front left side of the slide now hangs down. still works but the oil drips down towards the broken section due to gravity. this review I was contacted by a friend customer service team that discussed my issues and offered to repair or replace. Replacement range hood arrived 2 days later and I installed it. So happy to have a working rangehood again and couldn't be happier with the service provided would definitely buy again with confidence if there is an issue they will rectify it.
A piece of junk only worth putting in the rubbish – The description and dimensions sound fine, and this is about where it all ends. These things are complete pieces of junk, come with missing parts/pieces which are essential to installation, and if you buy one from bunnings, forget about having any customer support afterwards. Save yourself time and money by just chucking close to $200 in the bin.… Read more
It's honestly much easier, less stress and will likely make the same amount of difference to your kitchen when trying to extract cooking oils/air.
Give yourself a break and just don't buy one and particularly not from bunnings.

Has Worked Okay – This range hood has been installed in our kitchen for nearly 25 years. Until recently we haven’t had a minute’s trouble with it. It clears the kitchen of smoke and stove top fumes even when the fan is set on low (any higher fan setting is too loud). Last week one of the plastic pieces around the screws disintegrated so the unit now hangs down on… Read more · 1
the left side. Given how long we’ve had it I guess I can’t complain. The unit is probably at the end of its useful life. I’ll replace it with a better quality one. The plastic part showed me the unit is cheaply made.
All was good until the plastic slowly disintegrated – The rangehood was installed mid 2016 we purchased the house September-October 2016 and everything was fine until about a year and half ago I noticed bits of plastic falling off the rangehood near the screws near the light and fan switches! Everyday there was something dropping/falling off! Looking into the holes in the rangehood I can see a build… Read more
up of oil, grease which there’s no way to reach to clean unless I take the whole thing apart! Up until now I’ve had to take the entire thing off the wall as one side completely is no good! Most of the places screws are the screw don’t even stay in, the entire plastic piece on the side of the switches has deteriorated. Tried getting a spare part but the cost of that plastic part and then to get an electrician in the rewire it all (as it’s the side where all the wiring is in), I may as well buy a whole new unit!!
Good evening Felecia , sorry that we have not touched… Read more
Shoddy Quality Control – The Robinhood rangehood is a flimsy unit which does the job - just. Unfortunately, the workmanship is very shoddy, with the pullout extractor not closing properly. The brackets seem to be built askew so that the handle droops at one end. Quality control appears to be poor on this product.

Perfect rangehood with excellent power – Just got it installed and it works perfectly, it takes everything out of the room and the 700+ m3 power works a treat, it's a little louder than the old (only 3 months old) one but it works and thats what I need the rangehood to do. Show details · 1
Useless frustrating appliance. DO NOT BUY ROBINHOOD – Plastic around screws disintegrates and now have a piece of plastic broken off around screws and wonder if grease being pulled up into appliance... extremely hard to remove filters for cleaning. No clips to loose them off . Just too difficult a product to manage. Will definitely consider another brand with simpler operation. Show details

Replacement product under review – I have had 2 Robinhood rangehoods. Both had the same problem others have posted about on this site. After posting a review about my Robinhood slide out range hood problems, i have been contacted hy a Robinhood representative who has offered to replace my broken one with a new improved model. will report my findings on it. Very professional approach to this problem. Thanks to Alexy from Robinhood for the replacement. Show details

Just the worst – After 3 years the plastic holding the screws fell apart and the unit collapsed onto our cook top. I thought it was weird that the plastic was the only thing holding the screws and put it down to bad installation by the electrician at the time..... so ( silly me) I went out and bought the same one again thinking we would install it properly and… Read more
would fit in the custom made spot etc etc.... Little did we know that the manufacturer expected you to screw the blunt screws into brittle hard plastic and expect this to hold the unit.... this just did not work... so we had to re design the installation we used super glue, tape and bolted the unit to the shelf from below... we also drilled/ cut out the plastic tabs... and replaced with washers, big bolts and nuts... what a waste of a Saturday.... next time I will remodel the kitchen just to avoid having to buy this model again... I should have read the reviews on this site earlier... but you live and learn :)
This is our third one – We have had 3 of these units burn out in 4 years! No problems with wiring. Just a terrible unit with continual problems. Our electricians say its too unecomonical to repair so they have replaced it with a new one. And they keep burning out. Stay clear of this at all costs!!! Show details
Horrifying – After a few months of use, the plastic holding the screws in just crumbled and broke off. It didn't snap, it wasn't mistreated - the plastic simply crumbled like sand and fell apart. This is a new build kitchen, and has not even been used for 4 months, and the manufacturer has suggested that we broke it on purpose and that he has never had this… Read more
problem before. Looking at other reviews of this product, that is hard to believe.
This is a defective product, and the quality of manufacturing materials is absolute rubbish. Don't waste your time or money!!
Absolute Rubbish – The plastic around the front self tapping screws broke. Was about 1 week out of warranty and I contacted the distributor who requested full details which I supplied with photos and after three emails no reply at all. E mailed Robin Hood on their web site which was also a complete waste of time as no reply from them. Customer relations of the manufacturer and the distributor are as poor as their product. Ugh. This range-hood sucks, and not in a good way – As others have noted, this model has a major design flaw where the self-tapping screws weaken the plastic frame, so the entire thing just falls off the wall. This has happened twice - the first time they fixed it under warranty, this time I'm chucking it in the bin and buying something decent. Oh, and even when it's not broken, it doesn't do anything. Our fire alarm goes off pretty much every time we cook.
Highly disappointed – Like others, I had to buy a replacement, as the self-tapping screws broke through the plastic fascia. Now the second one has broken in the same way after only a year, which means, theoretically, it is still under warranty. Let's see if the company will replace it or return my money.
Terrible – I have had to buy two Robin 600mm slideout range hoods now because they keep breaking when the plastic around the front self tapping screws gives way which cases the slideout part just to hangdown until it eventually breaks off. Pretty disappointed in what should be a reputable brand. Now looking to buy alternate brand.
Cheap nasty Fan motor with EXTREMELY HIGH EMF (Magnetic Field) – Hi Magnetic Field in use - does not meet guide lines for EMF (No way this unit could be sold in Europe as it doesn't meet guide lines) This the WORST ELECTRIC MOTOR UNIT I've tested with hand held EMF meter along with RLES91SS/WH and their WH versions for radiating Magnetic Fields. It actually maxes the Magnetic Field meter out ! I tested… Read more
this at Harvey Norman and compared it to other models including sister cheap brand Omega from the same Australian Distributor.
RLES61SS / RLES61WH & RLES91SS / RLES91WH along with the newer cheaper 2 speed units.
Should be recalled and replacement motors offered to existing customers.
Do Not Buy till Shriro do a recall and issue new stock.
I have a Bosch induction cooktop made in spain and BOSCH successfully minimised EMF radiation, yet a Chinese electric motor manufacture cannot figure this for Shriro / Robinhood brand.
Otherwise the unit if used for extraction to outside on speed 1 it is very quite, slide outs took a bit of time to wear in, but because of the motor with is cheap design - including sintered type bearings (not ball bearings) I
regret buying this unit because of the high magnetic field that effects some people (not me personally)
Hope this review helps people who are sensitive and get headaches near high magnetic fields.
As my new kitchen was built around the size of this unit - to say I'm upset is beyond words..... this unit would be in the tip now if I could and fit some high end quality unit.
If anyone knows of any other brand that will fit a 161mm high, 285mm deep, 900 wide space with a 32mm tall draw facia - please do tell !
Terrible product – I have had 2 of these robinhood rangehoods installed at our place (2014) and both times have had the unit collapse because the self tapping screws holding the appliance together have caved in and broken. The plastic mould that holds this together aswell has also given in. Overall a very faulty product and manufacturer will not accept responsibility for the flimsy design. Self tapping screws holding the appliance together have caved in and broken

Fit for the tip – As it is noisy, has low extraction performance and only 1 light works it almost does not qualify to be called a rangehood. If purchasing the SS version the appliance is white with a SS fascia only. Many of the self tapping screws holding the appliance together have fallen out. It can be recycled
Very average – Looks good but quite tinny considering the price tag. the Fan is VERY noisy and even though there are two settings the first one is as noisy as the second and makes it impossible to have a conversation in the kitchen. When I turn it off the fan makes a rattling noise. Bit flimsy. Looks nice.
Does the job – This is a neat slideout rangehood that can be recirculating or ducted. It is priced well and has very good downlights. Not whisper quiet but reasonable noise level and works well. We installed it in ducting mode but were surprised to find that it still recirculated the air through slots in the front of the unit when in use so everytime I opened… Read more
the cupboard doors above the stove, air would blow out and hit me in the face! My husband has now put a metal fascia across these holes to make sure the air goes up the ducting tube. My mother also has a Robinhood rangehood model and had the same problem. She put masking tape over the holes! I think Robinhood need to supply a panel to correct this issue. Good price... Air flow recirculating instead of ducting...
