Was good but not anymore – It was great at first but after a while had it 11months… there is a plastic/metal taste to the water after boiling. Even after cleaning it. We thought it might be the coffee but it was actually the kettle Show details
Noise – This is the noisiest kettle I have ever owned in 50 years of buying kettles. The Whisper Quiet technology doesn't work. More work needs to be done to ensure that what it says is what it does Cas Show details
Kettle boils water loudly – Water taste is ok. It was not noisy when new but within a few months it was way too loud in our open plan house. The metal finish looks attractive but gets too hot to touch. Now it does not start to work immediately when turned on. I fill it through the spout as the lid is stiff to remove. Even though the kettle still works I have now ordered a Sunbeam kettle which a friend said was not loud & not hot to touch. Show details
Water has awful plastc taste even after cleaning and recleaning inside the jug – Disgusting plastic taste after boiling water. The metal jug is deceiving as it has several plastic bits inside the jug which shockingly taints the water. Quiet boil YES but strong plastic tasting water does NOT warrant this product as a great or good enough or wanted buy. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Show details
Worst product and customer service – Had this kettle for 10 months and it starts to leak from the side, first I call the customer service, I been told go back to where i bought it from for warranty. Then I went to Target Parramatta with the kettle and receipt where i bought the kettle from, customer service counter said they don't deal with these kind of issues, I have to look for… Read more
manufacturer. Later that day I tried to ring Russel Hobbs customer service once more, they push me to Target for any repair/refund issue again. That's really useless, I just throw it in the bin after hang up and I will never purchase any Russell Hobbs products in my life again.
Quiet ! You are joking – Quiet kettle.you have to be joking. Far noisier than a cheap K Mart one. Can't hear the TV when the kettle is on. Not worth the money. Will never buy another Russell Hobbs product again. Have used Sunbeam products in the past with good satisfaction. Thought I would give this brand a go. Give it a miss! Show details
Does the job but loud – Bought this kettle a few months ago. Kettle works fine except it is quite loud. This is the second Russell Hobb kettle we've bought. The first one was supposed to be a silent model but was loud too. This kettle has a nice stainless steel finish. Hard to clean as the opening is small. Kettle solution is the way to go. Show details
Brilliant, quiet – Purchased today and very happy. I have never had a kettle this quiet. It boiled water in 3 minutes 20 seconds and if the light wasn't on at the start I wasn't sure if it was working. It boils water which is all I want it to do so if it lasts I will be more than pleased. Show details
Broken after 3 years – Our kettle which is just over three years old has broken. The handle has separated. This is not what you would expect from an expensive kettle. The red paint has not stood up with time either. I would not buy a Russell Hobbs product again as it has proven to be not a quality product. Show details
Reliable but VERY noisy – Roared like a 747 from new but has been very reliable for the 4 or 5 years we've had it. "Whisper Quiet" it most certainly was not. It's final downfall was it's lid, the plastic handle on the lid to be precise. Eventually succumbing to thermal failure. The lid was never difficult to remove/insert but was cumbersome to use especially when hot. It… Read more
did produce bad tasting water on repeat boils early on which we put down to poor water quality at the time. This issue disappeared over time.
Poorly design lid – Lid is poor design, held on with fragile plastic fitting which breaks easily and costs about $35 to replace - more than half the cost of the kettle!!! Surely it could be designed better or the replacement part could be cheaper - the metal lid is fine but I have to buy a new metal lid as well as the plastic bit. Show details
Used to be a qualilty product not now – Bought this to replace the same model we had for about 5 years which had been really good it was quite and boiled quickly. This replacement boils quickly and is quite BUT every 2nd or 3rd time you boil it, you cannot use the water as it has this fowl taste and smells like burnt Formica, or metal taste. I thought the problem was because it was new but had it for 2 months now and it gets used 3 to 4 times a day and still has same problem Show details
Bad lid design – This kettle is whisper quiet but it has a bad lid design. It is hard to pull it off the kettle, especially when it is hot and the lid has expanded. Only had it for a few months but it is increasingly difficult to pull open as it is calcifying around the lid. Show details

It's nothing special – We bought a red kettle to match our kitchen. It is an expensive kettle but at least after 2 years it is still running. Unfortunately some of the red paint is flaking off which is not good. I wouldn't buy one again and I would stick to either a plastic or stainless steel kettle.
Just As It States, Whisper Quiet – My last Russell Hobbs Kettle was very loud, I chose this "Whisper Quiet" model because it actually was a problem, we have an open plan kitchen, lounge, dining and when the kettle was on I could not hear the tv or have a conversation in the kitchen area, I purchased my whisper quiet model yesterday and tried it out this morning for the first time.… Read more
After a couple of minutes, I actually turned to make sure I'd turned it on because it was so quiet. I am impressed, they obviously saw the problem and rectified it.
Nice and quiet which is what I wanted – We had an old electric kettle which was very loud and we always turned up the TV volume when it was on, so we decided to buy a kettle that was marketed as being 'quiet'. I read the reviews and was worried that the Russell Hobbs kettle wasn't going to live up to the 'whisper quiet' claim on the box. However I bought this model, got it home, boiled… Read more
up some water and was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. Maybe the quality can vary from kettle to kettle based on some other reviews but I'm very please I ditched my 'old rattler' and bought this one. The cord is short and the top is a tight fit but that isn't a concern for me but maybe for others. Had it a month now and no complaints and it wasn't very expensive either.
Horrible! – Taking back tomorrow as every coffee we make in it tastes like metal. Says "Whisper" on the box and the kettle but sounds like a jet plane taking off. This is the third Russell Hobbs appliance we have purchased and returned after 48 hours as the products are junk. Quality control at Russell Hobbs obviously isn't a part of their business model.… Read more
Never again will I waste money on this inferior brand. Back to Kmart to get the same kettle we've had for 3 years and only replaced due to a slightly worn hinge on the lid.
What was that? Can't hear you, the kettle is on – I jumped on the site to see if anyone else has noticed how mind bogglingly noisy this thing is. My question has been answered! I also have a friend with one of these and it drives his family nuts as well. It has also gone quite rusty on the base. Funnily enough though we can't seem to kill it so reliability does seem to be an issue (we have… Read more
suffered through ours now for 7 long years). It lives on and on and on Industrial deafness is becoming a concern
Stylish and Elegant – I have no problem to recommend this product. Very satisfied with the hot water intensity. Quick and stylish. The brand well known. The style The cord is too short
Bad – Looks great but dissapointing with the noise, as it was a present i would not buy one. Get the same result (hot water ) from a cheapy one purchased at any large discount store. this kettle Looks great, quite modern and will fit in most kitchen decors. Mine has lasted about 7 yrs thus far, not bad i guess. It was a present so not sure about the… Read more
pricing. Very LOUD when boiling, hilariously so, everyone comments on it, infact now i switch it on and have to walk out of the room till its finished. I cant belief the head office boffins at russell hobbs thought this was ok. Of course like an old car motor its loosend up and gotten noiser as it got older. Also feels quite heavy when empty. And with age cant see the water level indicator anymore.
Terrible – Cheap Rubbish ,Dangerous, Moderate noise levels,I think Russel Hobbs should be made to recall this Model as soon as possible (RHTC202 T) It looked good for medium priced item . My kettle is posessed the switches are faulty .When you place it down on the base it jams on and wont shut down this will make the kettle boil dry and perhaps be a… Read more
potential fire hazard. The first indication it was going to play up was the on button would not light up when going. It all went down hill after that. This morning the keep warm switch has now decided to remain on and now needs to be switched off at the wall. I'll have to throw it out now because I haven't got the docket or the box anymore.
OK – We had this kettle, but found it was far too noisy (to the point where you couldn't have a conversation in the kitchen whilst it was on or talk on the phone whilst making a cuppa). We've given it to my Mum now and gone for another Russell Hobbs model which is fine. Mum's still using it 12 months later, so it seems reliable and another family… Read more
member has had the same model for about 2 years. I wouldn't recommend this kettle for anyone with an open plan kitchen/living area - it will drive you crazy! Looks good It's REALLY noisy. Also find that it's not as quick as some other kettles.

OK – A nice fast boiling kettle that looks great but so noisy I'm reverting back to my old plastic one. Looks smart, stylish and contempory Like the other reviewer said this kettle is NOISY! We can't even hear the over the noise.
Terrible – Worst purchase ever. Bloody noisy. We use earmuffs when kettle is on. Neighbours 3 doors down know when we have the kettle on. And we live on acre property. We turn the telly up extra loud when this thing is on. It boils water so we can drink coffee Very Very Very noisy.
Terrible – Felt ripped off by the retailer, and the useless manufacturer, at least they took the noisy mongrel back and i got a refund Nice to look at When making a cuppa, the bloody thing wakes up everyone at 5.15am monday to friday, and although i said it was nice to look at, that is until you start using it, gets dirty very quickly, and if i forgot to… Read more
mention it, it is so damn noisy the people in the flat below were complaining about the noise, i believe that with consumer items such as this, there should be a govt body who should look at the rubbish that we are being sold, whether it is made in Taiwon or China, there should be a standard that they have to adhere to.
Piece of junk also it is noisy
Bad – As per other reviewers. This kettle was given as a wedding present. After a couple of years sitting in the box, thought I'd update our 10 year old one for this new stylish model. It is so noisy we can not hear ourselves talk when it is on, can not hear the tv, phone etc. Husband up at 5am and wakes the house making his morning cuppa. Thank… Read more
goodness we didn't waste our money on it - will look around for another one, or put back our "old faithful" kettle, which may have been 10 years old but quiet as a mouse and quick as well! Looks great, modern. Boils quite quickly, although not as fast as some. NOISY, noisy, noisy - did I mention noisy.
