Really enjoying this new air fryer. The chops come out tasting as if they've been on the BBQ grill, with nice crisp edges. The browning plate that sits in the bottom of the cooker really does the job. It's got a really great sized container and I'm looking forward to doing a roast pork in it... It's very easy to clean afterwards by having a removable drawer with handle. Would definitely recommend. Show details

Cooks well but the removable shelf is very hard to get clean. We've given up trying to get all the baked on remains off the plate. We also have a Ninja with base that is so easy to clean, so we use it more. Show details

Follow-up  · Yes it does cook evenly and it's capacity of 8 litres is very good. We now use spray on oil for the tray and it's easier to clean

We had a small Phillips air fryer but wanted a larger one. After extensive research this was the air fryer that was getting a unanimous 5 star rating. We bought one and it is fabulous. It is easy to use, has digital controls, has automatic settings too and the cooking plate removes easily and just slots into the dishwasher where the plates go. … Read more

There is also a reminder to shake food halfway through the cooking process. The underneath part hardly shows any oil or food scraps, so just needs a light wipe out. There are notches to move the cooking plate onto a higher level and I'm not sure why, unless it is possible to also cook food on the bottom of the air fryer at the same time. I would like to know if this is possible. Overall, this is a great piece of kitchen cookware and cooks food beautifully.

Beautiful ...basket a little heavy when removing with food in it also very hot must use a tempered glass board or wooden board not to be placed directly on the bench ...cooks beautifully many meals cooked in this airfryer also there are silicone inserts available at Harris Scarfe in which the Airfryer was bought from ...cleaning is a breeze but may not fit completely in the sink ...thoroughly recommended this product Show details ·  1

Unlike a few reviewers for this product, previously owned a Philips air fryer which died after about 4 years use. In comparison, the significantly cheaper Russell Hobbs (RH) produces just as good results, and is much easier to clean including using a paper towel to carefully wipe up accumulated oil on the insides. RH also has a high setting for… Read more

the tray.

The only negative was that it took a while to adjust to the RH controls, which starts cooking without needing to press a start button.

Have used it for 9 months and can recommend this value for money air fryer.

Very satisfried with my purchase ! – Where do I start.. I was one of those people that did not own an air fryer until Mr Russell Hobbs showed up at my door and so I had to give it a go. I must confess that I succumbed to an air fryer because I am renovating my kitchen and so I needed a quick way out of my “ovenless” situation. Oh well, let me tell you, I won’t go back to not… Read more

owning an air fryer. This appliance is life changing. It is big for a small family, quick and efficient. Very intuitive for first time users like me. Everyday settings ready to go, switch between veggies, poultry, beef, fries… omg have you ever tried chips made in this air fryer with little to no oil? Thank me later.

In summary yes ! Buy this air fryer it will be your best friend !

**Shake it Up: A Real User's Take on the SatisFry Air Fryer** – Alright, so I’ve been giving the SatisFry Air Extra Large Air Fryer a spin, and here’s the real deal. This air fryer is all about convenience, especially on those nights when you're tired and get home late. Whip up some delicious sweet potato wedges in a jiffy, and I love how it's fat-free. **Pros:** 1. **Effortless Operation:** Using the… Read more

digital touchscreen controls is a breeze, and I actually love that it gives me a ‘beep’ and tells me to ‘shake’ halfway through the cooking time. If you ignore it, then it continues cooking.

2. **Generous Capacity:** The generous capacity seemed to work as expected, allowing me to cook up larger batches without feeling constrained.

3. **Easy Cleanup:** Cleanup is a breeze with this air fryer. It goes straight into the dishwasher, making cleanup a hassle-free experience.

4. **No Oil Needed:** It does the crispy magic with little to no oil, which is a plus for the health-conscious. However, I've also used a little oil in some dishes, and it worked well with easy cleanup afterward.

Overall, the SatisFry Air Extra Large Air Fryer is a reliable kitchen companion that doesn’t reinvent the air-frying wheel but does its job without any unnecessary fuss.

Was Always Keen To Try One Of These Devices - Very Pleased – This is my first air fryer, but I had wanted one for some time. I already own multiple Russel Hobbs appliances and find them well priced for their quality, so was keen to get this to expand my collection. Taking the unit out of the box, it gave the impression straight away of being well made – it is nicely weighted and everything fitted together… Read more

well. It sat on the bench on solid feet which held it securely in place. I found that I was immediately looking up new recipes specifically for air fryers, being able to cook faster and crispy result with much less oil appealed to me. So this device has expanded my repertoire to new ways of cooking the same foods. Generally, the result we are all looking for crispy outside and moist inside. An air fryer with very hot and fast moving air gives this result. Not having to heat up an entire oven reduces the cooking time and energy usage, by not having to wait for the oven to reach required temperature. It’s ready to go after a short warmup cycle. Now, it’s become tedious to wait for the oven to be ready when I use it. The variety of items I have cooked are a variety of meats, sausages, vegetables and frozen goods, such as chicken balls and Asian specialties. Easy to get a crispy result without lots of oil. We have also noticed that frozen items cook better in this fryer than in a conventional oven, so it is given the seal of approval by my children. Really anything that has crumbs that “stick on” work well. Vegetables cooked in this fryer are delicious with a better flavour and retained crispness. This has added a new dimension to meals, a sprinkling of herbs and spices make a much a more interesting result than just baking or stove top frying. Reheating items is a breeze and they don’t dry out as they would in a conventional oven. I now look out for what else I can cook in this fryer and so I read the instructions on product packaging carefully – something I used not to notice it before having the fryer. The touch controls are easy and obvious to use, it has suggested times and temperatures for each type of food to be cooked, however these are readily changed to your preferences, for example if quantities are smaller. After setting the time/temperature, which is quick, the fryer self-starts. The cooking tray can be used at two levels with “lugs” on the side of the compartment to hold it in place. At first I thought the fryer didn’t fit a larger piece of meat inside, then I remembered that it can be repositioned. The “Shake“ function is a helpful and great reminder to move the food around for even cooking – much easier (and safer) than reaching into a hot oven to turn things over.

Cleaning; It is also a major plus that you can just drop the fryer plate and entire cooking compartment stright into the dishwasher, leaving it perfectly clean for its next use. The smooth control panel is simply wiped over to clean.

Whilst all of the above are “pros”, a minor issue (or “con”) came to light when first plugging it in – the cord could be longer for my kitchen layout, but that may not be a problem for anyone else.

In summary, I love it! It’s given me a different, interesting and energy saving way of cooking and for the pricepoint, it is a winner.

Didn't know I wanted one until I actually used one – Build quality initially seems very good; it fits together snugly, all the materials and finishes seem pretty good. I did have to drop a star because some of the small silicon rubber tabs on the removable food tray split within a couple of weeks of use, and they are useful to prevent scratching in the food compartment. genuine fun, as it opens your mind to loads of new possibilities, and it isn't long before you're thinking of new things to use an air fryer for - it really is versatile. Apart from cooking meats like sausages and chicken wings, we tried it for all sorts of things and were impressed with the results - say reheating pies so they are both hot and crispy, semi-drying tomatoes, etc. The results with meat were excellent; it's so easy to get a nice crispy outside and well-cooked but juicy on the inside. We found ourselves liking chicken wings a lot more and some things normally done in a frypan with oil are now always done in the air fryer due to the ease and lower mess.

Controls are touch-sensitive icons; there aren't many so it's very simple and obvious. Just change heat and time, with a few presets. Thats pretty much what I'd expect and has the bonus of being a smooth single panel which is easy to clean.

One of the best features that's not always front of mind is the power saving over using an oven - my general impression is that its far more efficient for similar tasks and saves quite a bit of heat-up time. After using this air-fryer for only a short time, turning on the oven seemed like a chore (and a waste of energy).

Deliciously crunchy food, a dream to clean – This air fryer has blown me away. It does an amazing job at cooking potato fries, nuggets, fish fingers and chicken Kiev with a delicious crispy texture in half the time compared to the convection oven and a third of the time compared to the regular oven. I have also tried fillets (chicken, fish) and it is large enough to re-heat a whole roast… Read more

chicken when I buy a roast chicken from the supermarket. Instead of taking 35 mins in the convection oven, I got crispy skin and hot roast chicken within 20 minutes at 200 degrees. I used to be a convection oven fan because I could do small roasts as well as baking. The convection oven is rarely used now since I got the air fryer.

Overall, what I have found about the air fryer:

Positives: - Faster cooking: Air fryers work as small fan forced ovens, hence they are convenient and great for frozen foods. are able to cook foods a lot faster and achieve the crisp texture we love. Faster cooking also means savings with energy needed to run it. - Reheating food is fast and efficient. Rather than waiting for the oven to heat up just to warm through something small like leftover pizza. - Features: 10 pre-set food programs - potato chips, eggs, chicken, vegetables, air fry, bake, grill, dehydrate, cook from frozen and reheat. The chicken Kiev I posted in the pictures took only 18 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius and I did not need to turn them. - Beep reminder to turn the food - we still need to turn the food half way through the cooking. It is useful that the air fryer has an alert signal to prompt you to 'shake' or turn the food. - Capacity: This air fryer is quite large and can cook a fair amount of food for a small house hold of up to 4 people, maybe 6 depending on what you are cooking. Although, I found it large enough for a roast chicken which is pretty good in regards to capacity. - Easy to clean - cleaning this air fryer is a dream. Ensure to use the soft part of the sponge to avoid removing or damaging the non-stick coating. The removable shelf is dishwasher safe but there is no need to use the dishwasher as it is a small piece and so easy to wash.

Negatives (more of an observation than a negative): - Some of the pre-programed settings could be shorter to avoid the food being overdone or dry because the cooking is quite fast. For example, when cooking nuggets if they have been defrosted, they only take 8 minutes, not 15 mins. When heating up a whole roast chicken I selected the chicken setting and automatically sets TIME 40 mins and TEMPERATURE 180 degrees. Half way through I checked the chicken and it was done. I guessed since I was not cooking from raw it would take less than 40 minutes. The skin on the chicken was nice and crispy but the chicken had dried out a bit. We still thoroughly enjoyed our roast chicken. The first time I cooked chicken Kiev in the air fryer it was way overdone in 30 minutes. - Smell of hot plastic when using for longer than 15 minutes. This is common in appliances that combine metal and plastic. I experience the same issue whilst using my Tefal multicooker.

Overall, this large air fryer is amazing! Specially if you have kids and teens and need to cook snacks, re-heat leftovers or cook small amounts of food very quickly.

  Fair Incentive Ambassador Review

Crispiest schnitzels ever – I received the Russell Hobbs 8L Satisfry Air Extra Large Air Fryer as part of the Ambassador Program. I’ve had a generic 29L oven style air fryer I got online for about 7 years now, and we are a big family of big eaters so I wasn’t expecting much from the smaller Russell Hobbs 8L. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The Russell Hobbs cut… Read more

about 8 minutes off the cook time for a 750g packet of frozen chips compared to my old air fryer ie it actually cooked in the recommended 12 time. I did a lot of hovering at first because it’s quite powerful and I wasn’t sure what temperatures to use or cooking times. Everything has turned out much crispier than we are used to so the whole family is pretty happy with the new acquisition. My home made schnitzel/parmys are super crunchy, chips have a better texture and are fluffier inside, in general everything just turns out with better texture and meats are juicier with a shorter cook time. I tried out crab Rangoon in the air fryer as well which turned out lovely, but we still prefer the bubbly crunch that shallow frying in oil gives. Obviously the air fryer is much healthier so I’ll be switching to that for friend dumplings. I used avocado oil for all my air frying so the smell is just a nice food-ish scent with no burnt undertone at all. The machine is quiet and easy to move around which works well for me in a small kitchen. The only issue I had was the “shake” function - where the fryer beeps and pauses halfway so you can shake the contents for even cooking” stopped working after a couple of weeks. It doesn’t pause and give me a chance to shake it up anymore. To be fair, I used it everyday and sometimes twice a day as we used our previous fryer regularly too. Despite this, the fryer still beeps at the halfway point so I just pull the drawer out and give it a shake or flip the food anyway. As soon as the drawer is closed it starts back up again. The fryer also starts up within a couple of seconds of temperature and cook time being selected. There is enough room for food for 5 people in there easily. I was worried about having to cook in rounds but moving things around during cooking worked well. I will need to get a second Russell Hobbs if I want to do pub style meals with chips as I used both fryers for this. I’d prefer to replace my old generic air fryer with a Russell Hobbs air fryer for sure. There is just no contest as far as functionality and power is concerned. The cleaning is so much easier as well. No scrubbing at all just soapy water and a rub with a wash cloth, then rinse with fresh water. It’s supposed to be dishwasher safe but I didn't try it. It’s so simple to clean there is no point. The only thing I haven’t tried is baking and that’s only because I don’t have a cake tin to fit. I’ll be getting some silicone baking moulds to try some cupcakes and brownies soon. I saw an air fryer cheese Mac video online that the kids are super keen for, and we are looking forward to roasting a whole bird this weekend. The Russell Hobbs air fryer has slotted easily into my cooking routine and the whole family is making suggestions on what to cook next. Overall this is an excellent machine which is only let down by the “shake” pause function not working properly anymore on mine - but I have to say that’s an extra thing that doesn’t matter to me. If I had paid for the machine I would exchange it for another one exactly the same. I’m still happy with it and will keep using it daily, as well as getting another or even a bigger model.

The Ultimate Air Fryer for Grilling, Reheating, Dehydrating, and More! – This air fryer is fantastic! It's essentially a multi-functional kitchen appliance, potentially replacing several others. preparation a breeze. Adjusting cooking times is easy, as the presets are a guide and may not always be perfect for the size or weight of the food in the basket.

One standout feature is the ‘Shake’ function, which prompts you to shake the basket at a set time for even cooking and crispiness. We tried it with hot chips, and they turned out perfectly!

We tested most of the preset functions, and the dehydrate function was a standout. Sliced apples dehydrated perfectly, making a great healthy snack. The defrost function also impressed us, outperforming our microwave, which often partially cooks food while defrosting. Reheating is also convenient and easy, taking another task away from the microwave.

We were initially skeptical about the preset for eggs, but we tried it and were amazed by the perfectly hard-boiled eggs it produced.

Cleaning the machine is simple, as it usually only requires a wipe down. However, it is also dishwasher safe, which is very convenient.

Overall, this appliance has exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it.

Pros: Dehydrates better than our dehydrator. Attractive sleek design. Surprisingly compact for an XL size. Dishwasher safe. Easy to clean. Shake function ensures consistent cooking and crispiness. Convenient for reheating and defrosting foods. User-friendly push-button digital display. Great manual with cooking times and temperatures included.

Cons: The basket could be heavy for some users during the ‘shake’ function and regular use.

Honestly I'm extremely impressed – Wow, my new favourite kitchen appliance. I have always stayed away from airfryers after having a really negative experience with one. normally use the oven. So putting the tray on to the higher level and following the guide in the book we cooked our nuggets. My kids absolutely loved them. I could here the crunch when they bit into them. They have absolutely loved having their nuggets this way. We have used this to cook chips, nuggets, snitz and spring rolls. Every time the food is crunchy and everyone loves it. You need no extra oil. They have a rough time guide and by playing around you can easily work out times. The shake reminder half way during cooking is great. I honestly love using this machine.

Russel Hobs 8L Satisfry – Ever since the airfryer became a thing I was a staunch Nay Sayer!! I have an oven & a combi steam oven.... I don't need an airfryer! Well, In have to say that I was wrong but also right in some respects. It does not do anything an oven cannot do, but... it does do it faster at a lower temp. The good There is no doubt its nearly 1/2 the cooking… Read more

time on some things, especially yellow food (oven baked frozen foods such as chips, nuggets, crumbed fish/chicken etc) and at a lower temp. In this day its a a HUGE saving on electricity consumption, undoubtedly hands down more economical than a conventional oven.

Salmon fillets in this airfryer.... were delicious. Very very juicy, in my opinion better results than an oven, on par with pan frying but with NO added oil

Whole chicken in this airfryer.... The results were quite surprising! Our best roast chicken has come from our combi steam oven but the air fryer definitely had a better result. The skin was crispy, wings (the gold in our house) were nearly equal to a chicken shop rotisserie chicken. The breast meat was very moist and tender and the leg meat fall off the bone. I have cooked whole chooks in the oven, steam combi oven, beer can BBQ method, Pro Q Smoker and the Russel Hobbs 8L Airfryer has delivered the best results. (The smoked chicken is amazing in a smoker but where it has that smokey deliciousness it lacks the crispiness on the skin and wings which I feel wins out in the end.

Yellow food.... As mentioned above, after school snacks (frozen pies/Sausage rolls/chips/fish/chicken, friday night dinners it will have you covered..... BUT, if your a family of four with two male teenagers you will need to cook two to three rounds of food to have enough. You cannot fit enough hot chips in the airfryer as a side for 4 people, you need to do do two batches. Conversely, if you wanted to do the chicken/fish and chips in one go, there is only enough room for 1 serving.

Roast veg's..... Again, the amount you can cook here is the disadvantage compared to the oven. I feel you can only cook enough veg for two people and you need to do two batches for 4. The results were good but I could not see/taste any difference in results other than roughly 1/2 the cooking time.

Red Meat.... We don't eat steak in our house so I haven't tried anything there but sausages come out brilliantly. Again, shorter cooking time, crispy on the out, juicy on the in.

Toasted sandwiches...... the cheese toastie is just perfect. You'll need to play around with the time but once you have it you will never go back to the oven grill again.

So after a few weeks I can definitely say I am very surprised at the results. The Russle Hobbs Air fryer produces a superior roast chicken hands down although limited to about a 1.5kg bird size. The other proteins were slightly better or just as good as the oven but again, much faster cooking times. It really is the perfect thing for snacks and frozen yellow food, you cant deny the quicker cooking time, lower cooking temp and less electricity usage.

My wrap would be that if you were a couple or a single person, this airfryer is a must in the kitchen. For family's, I'm not so swayed as its 'another' large appliance to have to store that does what an oven does. You just cant cook enough in the 8L airfryer in some instances to make it practical for time starved parents cooking family meals, you would need to cook multiple batches. But, If you do have ample kitchen space its a great addition to help save on electricity costs where I have outlined above.

In Conclusion.. Cooking time's are literally halved Efficiency must be at least 50% lower (than Oven) due to cooking time and lower cooking temps. Results are equal to if not better than cooking in an oven in most instances Surprisingly very, very easy to clean. 1000 times easier than our bosch combi steam oven when cooking a whole chook. Cannot cook enough for family of 4 in most instances unless just cooking protein Takes up a lot of bench space Still needs oil as if cooking in an oven

A BIG option for BIG appetites – Similar to reviewer @ShoppingBlows, we too have never owned an Air Fryer and when we were given this opportunity to test, we thought let's take up the offer to see what all our community were raving about! Many of our family and friends have tried to convince us to buy yet another benchtop appliance. We seen all those usual Facebook cooking groups… Read more ·  3

It arrived and thank you, we could see what the benefits were, instead of using a regular oven, the cleaning, the energy saving and the convenience. It was also nice knowing that the kitchen wouldn't have additional heat from cooking especially during our hot WA summer heatwave/s :P

We are a large family, with hungry pre-teen boys so we found the Air Fryer a little small, yeah we know, what it's 8 litres! We like to home cook a lot and like to do it on 2-3 oven trays :-) chips on one rack, garlic bread or pizza on another, with oven grilled meat/fish on another. We'll continue to use this Air Fryer as its still early days!

In summary, the Russell Hobbs 8L SatisFry Air Extra Large Air Fryer 27170AU does what most will be looking for, from singletons to mid-sized families - it's a quality appliance.

Pros: Large Capacity: We found the 8 litre perfect for big singleton/couple eaters or other mid-sized families.

Preset Programs: Takes the guesswork out of cooking with 10 pre-set programs for common foods like chips, fish, chicken, vegetables and mentions it has a dehydration function. We wonder if this will replace our dehydrator, we'll see in the coming months. It does seem to do what it claims with the cooking thus far, so we see this being our versatile benchtop appliance.

Easy to Use: The digital touchscreen display is intuitive and user-friendly, making it simple to adjust settings and monitor cooking progress. This we liked and it worked well, whilst we did need to adjust temperatures for different cooking methods, nothing to stop us not using it. A little trial and error.

Crispy Results: Rapid air technology circulates hot air to achieve crispy textures and even cooking, mimicking deep-frying without the oil. 100% on point, We can't fault the crispy results and to date, I've only done, home cut wedges, store bought chips and store brought chicken drumsticks and home made chicken nuggets, all crunchy outter, fluffy inside, not over cooked where its dried out with the chips/we edges as for the chicken crispy skin with the inside being tender.

Multiple Functions: This Air Fryer goes beyond frying, offering baking, grilling, dehydrating, defrosting, and reheating functions, still haven't tried all these functions, as we are only Day #2 of use. We will be keen to test defrosting and reheating functions

Cleaning Convenience: the basket and crisper tray Is labelled as dishwasher-safe so that would make cleanup a breeze. We found cleaning a breeze when we simply kitchen sink cleaned..

Energy Efficient: Compared to conventional ovens, Air Fryers use less energy, potentially saving you money on your electricity bill. This is a +ve for our bill, our pocket, our planet.

Cons: Size and Footprint: 34D x 25.6W x 25.2H centimetres, we didn't find the large capacity with the larger footprint an issue as we have ample room. Make sure you have enough benchtop space to accommodate it.

Noise Level: We did find it loud, but not annoyingly loud, loud enough you know its on and since this is our first Air Fryer so we can't compare.

Price Point: This Air Fryer retails at Big W for $199 https://www.bigw.com.au/product/russell-hobbs-satisfry-air-extra-large-8l-air-fryer-27170au/p/314449 but I'm sure you can shop around for a competitive price.

Currently Amazon AUS has it on sale for $149 https://amzn.asia/d/eImUu49

Improvements (Russell Hobbs monitors - please note): It would be handy to have a non-metal prong-type clip to lift the crisper tray as we needed to move some food from bottom to top during the cooking process, it was hot, expectedly.

Perhaps a tray for the bottom basket as we found when we had chicken drumsticks on the bottom of the basket was cooking in its own juices, whereas the crisper tray we had the home cut wedges, which were perfect. Once the wedges were done, we moved the drumsticks to the crisper tray, done. We will continue using the instruction book and learning from Air Fryer fans.

Overall: The Russell Hobbs 27170AU Air Fryer is a feature-rich and spacious option for those looking to cook healthier and more convenient meals. Its large capacity, user-friendly controls, and versatility make it a good choice from singletons to mid-sized families or those who cook frequently.

Note try not to use metal utensils on the metal parts to avoid scratching/damaging the cooking compartments.

Great results, and a dishwasher safe basket – I was really looking forward to trying this air fryer as I’ve never owned or used one before. I have a small kitchen and like a clean and uncluttered kitchen bench, and only want really usable appliances that can live on the bench or tuck away in the cupboard. This is BIG - 285mm wide, 305mm high, and 320mm deep. See photo compared to my kettle… Read more

and toaster - so it takes up a lot of space on the bench, and I had to re-arrange things to fit it in the cupboard. It’s really easy to use if you read the instructions, with lots of preset functions. The screen has icons that are easy to understand. I tried some frozen foods I’m familiar with, followed the cooking instructions on the packets and got great results - better than the oven. The curry puffs were lightly browned with a slight crunch to the pastry, exactly as they should be - see photos to give you an idea of basket size. Panko crumbed squid fingers were crunchy on the outside with the squid remaining tender. Half way through cooking a very loud alarm went off and the screen was flashing SHAKE - a reminder I wasn’t expecting but very helpful as I needed to turn the food. The air fryer was surprisingly quiet in operation. The best feature is the basket and removable crisping plate are dishwasher safe, you just need to pour off any fat or crumbs first. This is not a gadget, it’s very usable and easy to maintain. I’m looking forward to cooking some real food like fish, vegetables, potato wedges, and it even has a dehydrate function!
