Russell Hobbs Desire Matte Black Blender RHBL5BLK

I can't fault this blender in terms of performance and value – So I was looking for a new blender but wanted to use my FlyBuys points to buy one and there were quite a few listed. I asked a friend who's a chef and he said that he has this particular blender and it's served him very well, so I ended up getting it. Firstly it looks very sleek and smart on the benchtop. Most people overwhelmingly leave their blenders out on benchtop so you want an appliance that looks good and fits with your decor. It has a glossy black and some parts matte finish and looks very sleek.

It's also in a very competitive price range so it really brings value for money. The thing I noted most about it, was the fact it has a GLASS jug, and not a plastic one like most other blenders in it's price range (or even in higher price ranges.)

The glass feels better to use and most certainly cleans better and lasts longer. Usually clear plastic blender jugs get scratched and cloudy looking over time particularly if you're putting them through the dishwasher, but with this one being glass it doesn't have that issue. However, glass is heavier and prone to break if you drop it.

Cleaning is the main reason why I chose this model. It's design makes cleaning easy. Instead of having old fashioned rubber leak rings like many plastic jug models do this one unscrews from below. Once you've taken that main ring off which is very easy, you can easily just pop off the blade unit as one piece and put the lot straight through the dishwasher. It's the easiest, quickest and best cleaning design I've come across.

There are zero leaks with this design either. Disassembly for cleaning takes seconds. It's noise, well yes it's a blender, so it's going to be noisy. I would say it's not any more or any less noisy than other blenders.

I've been using it for a year now almost daily for banana protein shakes and can confirm it does a great job.
