Fantastic eventually – Bought this saw because it was less expensive but it had all the essentials. I made some new handles for the rise and fall and tilt. Just cosmetic, not essential. New saw blade. Made a fence, huge differance. Cuts hardwood( australian eucalypt timber, very hard not just hardwood in name ) easily. Just goes and goes. Good piece of kit. Show details

Good value for money – I was so impressed with this little saw that I wanted to write a review and I was very surprised to see that people have had problems with it. I think they may be expecting too much from a very cheap budget tool. One review suggested they were going to look at a Makita to replace it! I think they must have their budgets mixed up because that's… Read more

like comparing a Kia to a Rolls Royce. I have cut a lot of timber with this saw and I admit its not the most accurate/sturdy or of trade quality but for a cheapy I think it does amazing well. One particular feature that I love about it is the ability to rip at 45 degrees which my commercial saw can't do. This alone has made this saw worth owning. The number of times I wanted to make a trim or a timber molding with an angled face on it..before I would have to rip by hand with a circular saw or use a plane. The Ryobi will rip any angle between 90 and 45. As for the 5/8 arbor on the blade, that's a simple matter of getting some arbor spacers which cost about a dollar. They are just a little ring that goes inside the 22.2 hole on a standard circular saw blade which brings the hole down to 16mm. As for blade deflection, if you force a piece of timber through too hard as a lot of DYIers do, you are gonna get blade deflection on any but the best machines. You just need to take your time and let the blade do the cutting at its own rate.

Its true it is a bit flimsy and is clearly not a commercial grade machine BUT its a fraction of the price! I suspect some users are trying to use it as you would a full metal commercial machine which which is not really fair. Go and spend a one or two thousand bucks if you want a solid machine. I just wanted a cheap unit that would do basic jobs, that was light enough to throw in the ute or move under a bench in the workshop. This one fits the bill.

heap of crap – the rip fence is 1mm out of parallel ,no way to fix it tried shimming ,no adjustment under machine to allow for this what next?

Rubbish – The fence won't lock parallel to the blade, the blade is not correctly lined up to the mitre slots and the tabletop is not adjustable. Cheapest table saw money can buy and it's not even worth that. (Also, it's incredibly loud)

If you want a good job, go elsewhere – There are two styles in this range, I bought the one with the extending table. ETS1525SC I bought it because was cheap and I would only use it 3 or 4 times a year. It is poorly made even for the price. The lock-nut to hold the saw into position clamps the mechanism to the plastic body. in doing so it severely distorts the body of the table… Read more

saw. this is very poor by itself. In fact so bad I didn't believe it was right and thought the factory had misassembled it, so I stripped it down and put the clamping ring where I thought it should go. Now it works much better but it took an hour of my time to do so. After looking at constructed examples in a Bunnings store it appears I was wrong. It is meant to badly distort the plastic body. (actually I believe I am right and it has not been put together properly by the factory).

Bunnings shows the Arbor as 30mm and so does Ryobi's website. The correct arbor size is 15.9(5/8ths) now I have a new blade that doesn't fit because of this misinformation. hopefully I can return it as it's unused. getting the right blade might be difficult and more expensive.

The blade is not parallel to the guide. This means you get a wider cut than he blade is rated for, it also makes it more difficult to get the measurements correct.

The positioning mechanism is real dodgy, just a long threaded rod with little support and a lot of slop. (apart from the bad 'locking' mechanism described above).

The standard blade is a 40 tooth blade so the cut is pretty rough, hence why I tried to get a new blade.

I have a Ryobi cordless drill and love it. but this is my second ryobi corded tool. it is also my last. I will never buy another ryobi branded corded tool again. even for the price the quality is sorely lacking.

If you want cheap and nasty. this is the tool. If you don't want the nasty part look elsewhere. I might try the Makita.

The Ryobi website has no contact details, the importer (Techtronic Industries Australia Pty. Ltd.) does not seem to have an online presence. so I could not find an easy way to tell them about their mistake in the product description (arbor size) hence I find myself here, thoroughly disgusted.

Footnote: searching for techtronics reveals that they are exclusively signed to Bunnings (source: ACCC) perhaps this is why the quality is so bad. they are locked in and must supply at a price not a quality, from the accc notices it seems they have burnt their bridges, I doubt another retailer would take them on now. Cheap Cheap, inaccurate, poorly constructed

For hobbies and diy – As the price suggests its for domestic use . I have found it to be reliable and accurate and cuts haedwood well. The legs are of concern as the dont feel stable and twist wich may leed to a reduction in accurracy. I have resolved this by removing the leg assembly and placing the unit on a sturdy table. Good product for the money. good price and reliable poor leg assembly Show reply
