Reasonable device – woks better than our previous model , we just feed it slow, manage bite size pieces , got used to the quirks, finding that it at least has enough power to deal with every thing we stuff into it;
Too slow. Gets clogged and I only put grass and leaves in it – I find that this model is very badly designed. The chute should be bigger. The only way to make it somewhat usable is to remove the rubber flaps in the hopper. AVOID AVOID AVOID! Spend the extra money and buy something worth your while. Do this and you won't waste your hard earned money on absolute rubbish. Nothing Extremely overpriced useless tool.
Terrible – I am still trying to find a reasonably priced alternative...I have saved you the trouble and money of spending $200 to find the product is poorly designed. I have to say, it is the worst piece of equipment I have bought. It struggles to anything remotely worth shredding. It constantly gets blocked. When shredding branches, up to 40mm, it may feed in ok, but gets clogged by kinks in cuttings (often occurs). With small trigs and leaves it also blocks up. Because rather than shred the material it just tends to sit around the cutting device, rather than being fed through.
With the variable width feeder slot, the tool provided is practically useless when trying to feed material through. Because of it's thickness it is limited to material on one side of the feeder only.
Terrible – I should have returned it under warranty and got my money back, but left it too late, unfortunately. Like cbath, I believe it is probably the worst purchase I have ever made (of any sort of tool!) in my short 62 years! Nothing in particular! Like cbath, I've found it jams the blades regularly. particularly as the last piece of timber leaves your hand control and "floats around" loose in the chute.
Yep, small stuff just accumulates on top of the blade rather than feeding through.
... and it is an extremely time-wasting exercise to gain access to the blades to clear these problems!
Additionally, I've found my blades go dull quite quickly on dead/dry timber, and have cracked badly also.
Bad – for the price it works for me, I'm just about to put in my 4th set of blades and I've owned it 4-5yrs and I've put thru a heaps, 1 branch at a time it does work. the blades can be turned, and they're simple enough to change it's true about the the clogging when you get to the top of the branch, I've found the best remedy is to use your next branch to push the clogged leaves thru the cutters and don't overlaod the chute with to much matter. I also never put thru anything larger than 20-25mm, saves the blades.
