LESS THAN 7 Year Life Span - Crying – LESS THAN seven years ago we had a Samsung Ducted Air Con System installed in our smaller two storey home - this system was only installed for the three upstairs bedrooms. It is ONLY used in Summer (hot weather) - so in TRUTH IT HAS HAD ONLY 3 & 1/2 YEARS OF USE! In the beginning there were no problems and to be fair it operated quite efficiently… Read more

- the only real issue apart was trying to understand the instructions on how to set timers etc! BUT LESS THAN SEVEN YEARS later, it has literally died and I have had TWO separate companies who both have good reputations (including the one that installed it), that have said it probably isn't worth repairing at a cost of MORE THAN $4,000! BOTH companies have said they won't install Samsung again. Sadly, I feel very let down that an expensive air con unit would only last such a short time. Please note, I was happy to spend some money on repairs, but when the cost was ridiculous and the air con companies don't recommend them at all, I have lost ALL faith in Samsung. AGAIN, please note that this air con unit has only been used in Summer - so it has not had a hard life and it has been cleaned regularly. I have had a similar issue with a Samsung Front Loader Washing Machine - suffice to say, I will not be purchasing Samsung appliances ever again. From one VERY dissatisfied EX Samsung customer.

Outdoor unit condenser coil corrosion failure after 5.5 to 7.5 years in Unit Block – We have a unit in a 22 unit development. Unfortunately the ducted air con installed was Samsung. These units are 10/12kw and are similar model to Stefan’s reviewed below. It would appear that many have failed shortly after 5 years. At. Body Corporate meeting today, three owners, including myself, reported unit failure. All corrosion in the… Read more

condenser coil and another in the internal blower unit. Samsung online contact is hopeless and no calls have been returned. The “contacting” tile just spins and spins. No phone number to contact. If the outdoor unit fails. The advice we have been given is replace the outside and inside units as “it’s not worth risking a new Samsung outside unit or a $3259 plus coil repair because the internal unit could fail next. Looking at $8000 to replace Samsung unit plus cost of repairing kitchen ceiling because the plaster needs to be cut out to remove and replace internal unit. Samsung have an excellent reputation for phones, tvs etc. Not so on my observations concerning air con. The Samsung warranty might be limited to 5 years - but the ACCC and consumers are entitled to expect a longer life. Do your research when contemplating a new purchase. We will probably replace with Mitsubishi.

Cheap bad design – This unit always struggles to perform. On those cold mornings the unit goes into defrost mode. I have had the unit always serviced and checked. I think the problem is it has a aluminium condenser instead of the typical copper condenser. The water can run off the condenser properly due to the aluminium coils being flat not round like the copper… Read more

tubes. Samsung have tried to save money using the aluminium on a cost saving but also charging premium prices.

Absolutely terrible - can't heat or cool when needed! – Model is actually AC120HCAFKH. Absolute rubbish - struggles to heat in Melbourne winter and struggles to cool in Melbourne summer. We've had winter days like today, where it won't get above 13C and summer days where it can't get below 30C. Have had nothing but problems since it was installed (2-years ago) and the installer (Micron) has been next… Read more

Model is actually AC120HCAFKH but it wasn't in the selection. Anyway it's bad – We got this unit installed with a new house which we built a few years ago. Wish I had done more research into the reviews of this model and I'm sure I wouldn't have got it if so. The model started giving issues 3 to 4 years after we moved in. An E320 error which is denoted as "OLP sensor issue". Didn't happen that often but seemed to… Read more

increase after 4 years. This issue is characterized by the green on light turning red and flashing soon after the unit is turned on. However, each time the red light flashes, we turned the unit off, left it for 30 mins or sometimes overnight, then the next day it worked again.

Of course the issue got worse now and we found out after contacting Samsung that this cannot be repaired under warranty as the warranty period is 5 years so we are past it. How disappointing.

The old split units (not Samsung) that we had in our old home went for more than 10 years without any trouble at all and are still working.

So our advice is....beware of the quality of Samsung ducted units - they don't seem to last at all. You may be better off with split units or choosing a different brand entirely. Judging from the reviews on this site, that seems to further support my judgement.

One thing Samsung does NOT excel with – I've always enjoyed Samsung whether it's phones, TVs, smart devices but one thing for sure is I don't recommend them for ducted aircon conditioning, the house it came with the builder pre installed it, let me explain further 1. The wall controller is something from the 80's hard to setup and program, non-intuitive with the menu structure and… Read more

coding (will need a manual everytime to setup), never come across something like it in the modern age. It's such a pain we literally just get up and manually turn it off and on, working out the scheduling times needs the manual and lots of patience

2. Cooling capacity. The unit we have is a 12kw (AC120HCAFKH), the amount of energy roughly 4kw) it doesn't preform well, so much so we still use pedestal fans in the babies room and upstairs is unbearable. Not much flow at coming from vents with only 2 zones on

As mentioned in point 2 cooling capacity. I was sure the system was well under performing considering the power usage. I checked and changed the filter (ever so slight improvement) got it serviced and was explained to have minimal zones on, that I knew already. It simply just ok with one.... Forget 2 zones and had refrigerant levels check and ok to my surprise because I was sure it was a gas issue for the lack of performance

Conclusion was the outdoor unit is close to a wall (little enclosed) and it was suffering from air recirculation on the outdoor unit, so I installed air diverters to expel the hot air upwards away from the unit, this made a very marginal change if any.

In my experience with this system, a split system would leave it in the dust for cooling. I would pursue a more reputable brand when the unit fails and I wouldn't consider replacing parts when the time comes, my partner and I are 100% on the same page with this

*Update* I went into the roof space still dissatisfied with the cooling of the unit and found a few duct leaks on the upstairs zone & have since repaired, it has made a difference to cooling for sure and since changed the rating to a 2-star as it does perform slightly better

Product is good, warranty is.....well, reluctant on the call centre side but excellent at local service level – This is a review a long time coming. Had this unit installed almost 5 years ago. Faultless....until now. It's a 10kw central aircon unit with every room switchable as on/off and wifi enabled so that you can control the unit from your phone, including current air temp etc. Everything was going great, until 4 yrs and 9 months into a 5 yr warranty… Read more

on parts and labour, a $15 sensor started playing up the week before christmas. The Samsung Customer Service hotline just play the game of putting your calls into a 24 hr loop. "yep, we'll call you in 24 hrs...blah blah blah". It sounded too good to be true. And it was. 48 hours goes by and still no phone call. You phone them back. The same customer service rep picks up your call in Dubai. Seriously, they can only afford the one? She can't recall the promise to phone but she can recall the substance of the initial complaint and recite the error code. Yep. Believable. Not! She;s got the whole file right there in front of her. I phoned around, including the agent who installed it. He's out with Covid but a mate of his who services Samsung told me that yes, they are dodging the bullet when it comes to customer support and that they have form for it. So it's a waiting game of 3 months or more before they get around to replacing a $15 sensor or paying someone $350 to come and do it. I'm thinking the whole unit is $3,200 brand spankers. Think I'll be taking my business to Fujistsu or Mitsubishi if a replacement sensor, which ought to be free under a non existent 5 year warranty on parts and labour is in reality, non existent. When you think about it, the sensor replacement, if replaced at my own cost while still under warranty, is 1/10 the purchase price of the whole unit. Be a shame to bin the whole unit and give Samsung the review they deserve but hey, they are the ones driving it.

Terrible customer service – Called for a warranty claim and the person gave me another number which I called. I then waited 54 minutes to get through only for them to tell me to call the original number I called and that they couldn't help me. Already good but can be better – Went with this product and model because of a builder promotion. Loved the different functionalities it comes with. Could be better if the controls are user-friendly. Getting to decipher the timer functionality is a pain. Not straight-forward instructions. Need to really get into the manual details to decipher how the functionalities work. One… Read more

good example is the timer functionality. One has to press so many buttons to get to the timer and it wasn't easy. The functionality is there but you have to dig through the manual first. Still, it does the job of cooling and heating so far. Hopefully it will last.

Terrible Service from Samsung - Don't buy, if it breaks, you'll be left in the lurch – I will never recommend Samsung after our recently installed ducted Air Conditioner failed recently. The lack of interest or service from Samsung is just abhorrent and appalling. We paid nearly $20k for this unit which is less than 12months old and broke down in the lead up to one of Victoria’s hottest weeks of Summer. We contacted our installer… Read more

who said that Samsung would help us as it was under warranty. No contact from Samsung and I have been complaining to them every day, both to their customer helpline which incidentally is based in the Philippines and by Messenger to their media department. The call centre people are polite but totally uninterested in getting the system fixed and appear unable to escalate matters beyond their scope of knowledge. Samsung say they will contact me with information as soon as they have some, they don’t, so I have had to call or message them multiple times daily.

39c weekend with a young baby in the house and a week later the system is still awaiting repair. I telephoned Samsung again when I hadn’t heard anything to be told a repairer would come out on Monday (7 days after failure). But he was a no show so my system is still needing repair.

Samsung needs to seriously lift its game. I have previously liked Samsung products and hence my choice for our domestic heating/cooling. Never again. I am just sick and tired of chasing and hearing pathetic excuses as to why it is so hard, like....oh you don't live in Metropolitan Melbourne so we don't have a repairer.......(so only sell in Melbourne then and people who live outside can but Daikin or Mitsubishi).......we have been busy after the Christmas holiday......(well its now the end of January so how long are you going to hang on to that excuse???).. Oh and when you say you will call the customer back, please do so.......and when you promise a service call on a particular day......do so.....I can't tell you how disappointed I am at taking a day off work and losing money and then no-one comes........

My original installer was very helpful and sent someone out the same day as the fault, they contacted Samsung and advised that Samsung would be in touch. No contact from Samsung so I called you, again and again and again. My original installer is not on your list of approved repairers so they weren't allowed to do a warranty repair. A week later and I still have a faulty system. Not happy and will not buy or recommend Samsung, If I could give zero stars I would.

Lovely and toasty in winter, avoiding the heat in summer – I argued for gas ducted heating in our new build as it was something I was familiar with, but the contract stated ducted reverse cycle electric. The real estate agent ultimately talked us into the electric unit and I am glad as it seems to run more cheaply, more quietly, and more efficiently than the gas. This is our first experience with… Read more ·  2

air-conditioning in a home and the Samsung made the long run of 38 degree (Celsius) days, a breeze to handle. We have so far experienced one winter with the Samsung. I had read about the risks of the unit freezing overnight but even on the minus 8 degree mornings the unit simply went through a defrost function and then kicked in. Even though this new house has much higher ceilings and has two more bedrooms than the previous home, most days we only needed to set it to between 16-18 degrees celsius to keep us warm (we always ran the gas at 18-20 celsius). It is currently our first summer in the house and we are running the air-conditioning non-stop most days on 25-27 degrees. We have just discovered the FAN mode so when the breeze is cool enough outside in the evenings we open the windows and run the fan. Apparently this is much cheaper to run than the air-conditioning but is just as cool and just as quiet. Our unit came with a small thick book that dealt with installation but nothing about user operation. Many of the settings, like setting time blocks for turning the unit on and off, are met with the word RESTRICTED. I have contacted Samsung and they had me try a few things over the phone but when it didn't work they stated they would email me the instructions. I am still waiting. Perhaps our builder took a cheap option that limits the functions??? The only hassle is cleaning the filter in the ceiling. We are having an issue opening the door with the tiny knob so have only vacuumed through the grating. Other than that, I think it is a brilliant system and I hope we have a good long run out of it.

Doesnt use up a lot of electricity but still keeps you cool! – i bought this aircon and have never regretted it. it was amazing and it kept me cool through the hot summer days and night. It has a quiet mode so i can turn it on at night and still sleep. The best thing is that it doesn't cost a lot to run. I have noticed no spike in my electricity bills ever since i bought it and used it. You should consider to buy this one if you are in the market for an aircon  Show details

-- – Reverse cycle air conditioner works well in room. Attached to wall and looks small and compact. Remote operated or manual with options for various modes. Was quiet when newly installed. However after more than five years it has started to become noisy when operating. Air vents appear to have melted during heat operation over the years and become distorted.  Show details

Happy with the Aircon and price – We replaced our 12 Kw Bonaire ducted air conditioner with Samsung, the installer suggested to increase the capacity so went with 14Kw.
