Loved it until now :( – Had this TV for 4 years and it has done everything we wanted well - until last week when the edges of the screen on the left and right started to go smoky black. Watching just the middle of the tv is an experience but not one we were expecting at the 4 year mark. Any suggestions? Show details ·  3

Lasted only 4 years, like all the others – If, like me, you are reading this because your 4 year old UA43 is now black on one side of the screen, well, it is too late. You already bought it. Purchased in June 2018, so 4.5 yrs old, which seems to have lasted 1 or 1.5 years longer than most. Even the extended warranty would have covered only 3 years. Glad I did not get it. avail yourself of a warranty within 3 years, then perhaps the product is not fit for purpose. TV itself was great up to now, easy to use and to navigate. Then overnight it went dark on the left hand side (as you look at it). Contacted support online, who I must saw were quite good. Got us to do a factory reset, which just moved the dark patch to the other side. They found our nearest service, which is the other side of Sydney, and offered us 30% discount vouchers for online purchases, although their range did not suit us at all. But really, would anyone turn around and buy another Samsung in this scenario? I know that it is a first world problem, and that ´´they don´t make them like they used to´´, but that Samsung has cost over $200 worth a year just to watch TV. Not clear if it is a design issue or a build quality issue. Either way, not good enough. PR submission offers to mediate with Samsung, but in reality they have helped us as much as they can, and they were nice about it. All their TVs are now at least 50% dearer anyway I notice. Best TV we have is a small TEAC which was purchased cheaply in 2008 for the kitchen. That was 14 years ago. Used every day, still going strong.

Good Picture terrible remote – The TV has a good picture, adequate sound but the remote is too small. It doesn’t seem that intuitive to use. Also bought the soundbar but had to have that replaced Show details

Missing bolts to wall mount tv – If you intend to wall mount this tv, note that the bolts needed to go in the back of the tv are not included and very hard to find in hardware shops. Order 4 11mm m8 bolts a week before on ebay. Bought TV and went to wall mount it, couldn't find the bolts that go in the back of the TV, spoke to retailer who said they are not included. Bunnings and local hardware, they don't stock this size. Luckily BING LEE staff who have encountered this before had 4 bolts that were as close as they could get and with washers [another trip to hardware] I had it worked out. Many thanks to BING LEE staff for providing a solution. Mass criticism for SAMSUNG who are too tight to provide 4 bolts, meaning everyone who is wall mounting one of their TVs has to find a funny sized bolt, maybe 50 cents saved by Samsung. On the tight department, when the new TV replaced the old cheapy, the power cord was 15cm shorter that the cheapy, back to the hardware shop.............. The marketing guys need to speak to Uncle Scrooge in production.

Crisp quality – The apps include everything I need but in particular Netflix. It means i can avoid having to buy an apple tv or Chromecast. The bluetooth connectivity also works perfectly and means I can stream content from my phone. It has sufficient HDMI ports so i can plug all of my devices in. Show reply

Reasonable without the bells and whistles – Firstly, Appliances online offered the best price and assistance. I had and have 4K issues with Netflix and Stan and they were happy to take TV back but I held on to it because it does the job without the bells and whistles. So what are the issues? I have just bought the Samsung 43 inch 2019 RU 7100 model. A few points: 1. The remote is far too… Read more

small but it is versatile ( universal ). ( Hard to record when using Foxtel ) 2. Netflix and Stan Apps are very low light in 4K movies. YouTube 4K excellent. Apple TV 4K ok. 3. Very poor Alexa and Google Assistant voice control. My 2009 Samsung performed better with Chromecast.

My MAJOR concern is the very dark resolution on the Netflix and Stan Apps inbuilt on this TV. They perform poorly on a 4k level . Needless to say I have contacted both companies and Samsung as well. No amount of troubleshooting and online remote management has solved this issue.

The setup procedure was very straightforward and no need to refer to the manual. The design is standard but I would have preferred an extra HDMI port. Easy to manoeuvre and light to lift. Leg height suitable to place a Sonos Beam under the TV. It does have Airplay facility. A wide range of Apps as well. Youtube in 4K is excellent.

At the price I feel I've got what I've paid for and the Samsung TV does the job and fits well into the available space.

Loved the TV but Samsung did not honour warranty – Wonderful TV. Great picture, easy to install. TV stopped working properly after a few months and unfortunately Samsung did not honour the warranty. This was based on photos, the TV was not physically inspected even though I assured them, I could not have been it. I requested a second opinion but this was rejected. Amazing TV initially but I would not bother with extended warranty given my experience. Show details

3 months old and dead – Always bought Samsung and have advised friends to buy Samsung. I am shocked to see large dark patches on each side of the screen. The dark patches swap from left side only, to right side and now on left side permanently. For a near brand new TV i think it boils down to where it was made. This one made is in Vietnam. Will have to rethink my next buy now. This one is going straight back to the store. Show details

Amazing TV Unit beats the competition – The 4k tv runs as advertised and perfect, Samsung are proven leaders in the tv business, from watching tv before and after you can tell the difference Pros: Great Picture quality, all the ports you ever need, cable management, value for money Cons: No cons from a ps4 gamer and chrome cast user  Show details

Good Quality and Useful Features – We are very happy with this television overall. Pros: • The size is perfect for us. It is not overwhelming, but is big enough for us to be able to sit a fair distance from the screen. • The smart features are useful, we particularly like access to Freeview Plus so that we can stream directly to the television, with SBS On Demand and ABC iView… Read more

being particular favourites.

• Great, clear picture and the sound is fine.

• The automatic tuning works brilliantly and easily.

• The wi-fi connection to our modem is flawless and easy.

Cons:

• The elecrical cable to the power is ridiculously short.

• The remote control is not particularly well-designed.

• The apps for the smart aspect of the television are reasonably easy to access, but the setup is inelegant and somewhat clumsy to navigate.

All in all, I recommend this television. The good by far outweighs the bad, as the picture quality is excellent, and the negative points are restricted to less significant issues such as the remote control and the electrical cable. Whilst the apps have a slightly clumsy setup, we LOVE having a smart TV! There is access to a lot of content without the need to sign up for any type of paid service. We are very happy with this purchase.

Great For 2 days! It was downhill from then! – Great For 2 days! Then on the 3rd day I turned it on and there was a thin black horizontal line (permanent whatever the input...from left to right side of the screen) in the middle of the display! Used Samsung products all my life, perhaps the 43 inch NU7100 was just a dud?? I'd love to think that was the case! Atleast Appliancesonline.com.au… Read more

are a very good company and offered a replacement. Very Good service. The same could not be said of the samsung tech though (using the standard Samsung Australia support number), who could barely understand english!!!!

Really happy with this TV – Really impressed with the quality of picture, so clear and bright (still getting used to the sharpness). Smart Features are the best and no longer requires my Google Chromecast device. Netflix is great and can now listen to my music via UTube through my speakers. I use also my smart phone to Chromecast stuff through to my tv which is easier and… Read more ·  2

faster to type a subject in. Just a nice size, not to big or to small. Love this tv and recommend to all. Was also told that the smart features are better and easier to use than Panasonic brand from more than one person in the store and I agree. The only downfall with this tv is that I had to purchase a cheap “Panasonic Soundbar” as the sound quality is not great on this size tv and It doesn’t have an Earphone jack to plug in my old speakers. Also regret not looking into things further because if I had A “Samsung” Smartphone and Soundbar to match my tv then I could of set up one remote to control the tv instead of 3 remotes bit of a pain otherwise am happy.
