This review has been left as part of a promotion by Samsung. I recently purchased HW-QS700F 3.1.2 ch Soundbar from JB hifi. Got a good deal on the soundbar. It is dolby atmos soundbar and oh boyy i love the sound output when i play dolby atmos content. You literally feel the sound coming from ceiling. I have stopped going to movie theaters now and… Read more · 1
i wait for movie to release on OTT and enjoy them at home. If you have previously owned 2.1 or non dolby soundbar, this is the best soundbar you can get to experience dolby atmos at budget.
I bought this Samsung soundbar from JB Hi-Fi in November 2023 and also got the JB Hi-Fi extra Care cover. Unfortunately, it’s been back to the Samsung repair center twice within the first year. The one-year warranty expired in November 2024, and the soundbar started malfunctioning again. I tried several resets, which temporarily fixed the issue.… Read more
But last weekend, it started playing up again. Even after resetting it four times over the weekend, the problem persisted.
I’m glad I bought the extra care cover through JB Hi-Fi. Their customer service has been fantastic. I reported the issue to them on Monday, October 3, 2025, and today, Thursday, October 13, 2025, I’ve already received a gift voucher for the value I paid for the soundbar.
This is my third Samsung soundbar over the years, and I expected better durability from a reputable brand like Samsung. The reason I keep buying Samsung soundbars is because I have a Samsung TV, and it’s convenient to have compatible equipment.
I’m curious about why Samsung soundbars seem to have such a short lifespan. It’s like they’re designed to be replaced every year. Is it a strategy to encourage customers to buy the latest generation soundbar for sales purposes? Also, why doesn’t Samsung offer a two to three-year warranty on their products?
I’m very disappointed with the overall experience I’ve had with the Samsung soundbar...
Soundbar can't play recent content, Samsung refused to offer replacement of this lemon – Soundbar worked well for a few months then became progressively worse w sound dropping out, first with Netflix then with terrestrial tv; often unwatchable except for content from a decade ago or more. Voices especially become tinny, warbly, faint, then loud again. TV speaker alone is fine. I thought I needed to learn how to adjust settings: ha ha!… Read more
I've replaced HDMI cable x 2, checked all plugs and connections, moved rear speakers, tried all variations of sound options / inputs, firmware is up to date, did resets of tv and soundbar, remote TV reset done by Samsung. So my $792 purchase during Black Friday sale Nov 2022 is now mostly worthless. Samsung recommended seeing a local technician. So i took it in and picked it up. Components of soundbar and later the TV were replaced. Still problematic. So was told by Samsung to contact local technician again recently. Why? He'd indicated not much else he can do, wait for Samsung to follow up as problem is intermittent i cant guarantee when it will malfunction. I've been a loyal Samsung customer for decades: 3 TVs, 4 air conditioners, a dud of a washing machine, 2 or more tablets, 2 or 3 phones, an air purifier--all Samsung. So I'm heading to the retailer to request a refund since Samsung refuse to do anything without yet another trip to repairman. Hopefully JB HiFi can sort this issue. This lemon should have been replaced, upgraded or refunded months ago, but Samsung clearly hopes I'll simply give up. Similar complaints online so problems are common. Update: JB HiFi sent to repairman who simply deleted some sound options (for example, can't play TV speaker with Q Symphony etc) so the expected full surround sound is no longer even an option. And now sometimes when i turn it on, the sound is extremely faint and is only one channel it seems, so turning up the volume is hopeless, have to switch off and try again. And again. At other times the sync is out, switching off and on mostly fixes it most of the time. I'll never buy another Samsung soundbar again.
Before you buy a Sound-bar you need to understand a few things… – First Off…this is a great product and produces awesome sound. Secondly, a sound-bar can only produce excellent sound if the signal from the source is also excellent. Otherwise it’s just an amplifier. It’s great for Movies. Live to air from tv channels is always pretty inferior and no sound- bar can change that, so adjust your expectations… Read more · 1
accordingly. They work best through the various streaming services, including YouTube, which broadcast in far superior quality than commercial TV channels, which you can pretty much wipe off for trying to get better sound. You start with rubbish, you’ll end with amplified rubbish. Now a tip for people using hearing aides. A Sound-bar will certainly be your friend but not if you are using them directly connected to a TV remote. You will need to not use that but rather just turn them to general environment sound. That way you can still appreciate the surround sound. If you simply connect with your hearing aides tv transmitter you will only get delayed sound with no surround. In short, they won’t work in that mode. I learned all this through trial and error, thinking I’d wasted my money. But now it’s all set up correctly and understanding sound-bars can only work properly when the sound transmission source is good. As broadcasting improves, you will continue to see your sound-bar more and more a great asset! I hope this helps people and saves them the unnecessary frustration I caused myself through ignorance of how this all works. This sound-bar will certainly transform the ordinary TV sound output into something extraordinary, dependant totally on what you are watching. Check out a You Tube HD music video to understand the incredible difference!
Simply stunning – I will start with what's too like. Well pretty much everything really, this package delivers on all fronts. fist of all is the aesthetics, the bar itself is not too long and sits well below my LG TV so as not to block the infra red receiver. The bass unit is not overstated as some and is narrow enough to fit behind a couch or chair or next to your… Read more · 1
entertainment unit. The rear speakers are weighty and solid and look part. Overall a welcome addition without being too intrusive.
Set up was a breeze for me as I have no peripheral devices, just hook up the hdmi arc port on the soundbar to hdmi arc port on the tv. Place the Sub and rear speakers where appropriate and they connected by themselves Viola!! I downloaded the Samsung smart things app to connect the unit to wifi and added it to my Google home room for casting. Within the App I also adjusted the the rear speaker volume and base levels. this can be done via the remote as well.
Now the all important part is sound quality right! I jumped straight onto you tube and played a few tracks from Pink Floyd to Match Box 20 and even some Gheorghe Zamphir. The overall sound quality was awesome to say the least. Bass was punchy, high were not shrill and mids were full and clear. What struck me though was the feeling room filling sound from all directions especially from above, the acoustics were mind blowing! Adding a few of my smart speakers was a breeze to give a multi room effect as well. Watching TV like the news or any voice enhanced programs was pleasant though the bass was sometimes a distraction which was easily fixed by turning it down. Movies were simply awesome. I had forgotten what it was like to hear movies they way they were meant to be heard. The balance of dialogue and background music or action scenes was spot on and there was none of that feeling of "did I miss something" your senses are in overload from the opening to the closing credits.
I would highly recommend the Samsung HW-Q930b if you are looking at a soundbar if you want a wireless free no fuss set up that delivers on both sound quality functionality and aesthetically good looks.
So perfect.. can't use TV without it! – I have had this soundbar for almost 4 months now after purchasing it as a bundle with the Samsung QLED TV.. and I'm so glad I did!! The soundbar gives a very immersive sound experience and gives a true Cinema and 3D Sound Surround experience. The speakers, subwoofer and soundbar all work amazingly well together. Bluetooth and wireless features make it easy to use Spotify as well as other apps and devices.Another great product from Samsung! Show details
Great Quality but issues with Software – We purchased this in 2020 during first lockdown. This gave us great pleasure as it performed as expected. Got great quality sound with ATMOS. Real Cinematic feeling and the Sub-woofer was fantastic - gives a real punch when you watch movies either using Netflix, Apple TV or even U-tube with 4K. It went on well for one year. So no issues with… Read more
Quality of sound. We got what we expected. When we connected this to our new 75"QLED it failed after first round ( just last Saturday). It is now indicating "ON-D.IN-UP DATE". This goes on continuously. Systems does not respond to any key on remote or even keys on the bar it self. We tried to update software as suggested by Samsung but it did not work too. Now Samsung wants us to take this to a repair centre. This unit may be out of warranty as it has taken 12 months. We are very un happy to see this type of failure from Samsung specially just after one year. We do have three TVs from Samsung along with other white goods, Tablets and phones from Samsung and this is the first instance that a product failed just after one year.As at the time of writing this review I am waiting to hear from Samsung whether they would take the repair under warranty. So my advice to you is buy the 3year warranty if you are purchasing this from Samsung.
The TV speakers are better – I wouldnt recommend this product and would instead look for a 2.1 setup. I have a large space with high ceilings. 5.1 wasnt really and option due to lack of mounting. I can barely make out dialogue, the speech is so unclear. Would investigate a stereo plus woofer option if I had my time again Show details
Horrible sound and non existent bass – I've had the sound bar for a week now and the sound is terrible. The sound bar itself is at best adequate, and that's after a ton of fine tuning. The subwoofer however may as well not be there. in a week I have played video games, watched television, watched YouTube and watched multiple movies and I've heard the subwoofer engaged once. I've… Read more
turned it up as far as it will go.
The only thing I will say is that the functionality works very well if you have a Samsung smart TV. That's literally the only good thing I have to say about this product. You can play an extra couple hundred bucks and buy Sonos soundbar and I know from experience that they are infinitely better.
Samsung support unable to diagnose or fix problem. Will not refund – Soundbar has intermittent issues with a Samsung 4K TV (QA75Q90RAWXXYD). All HDMI connected devices loose video, but audio is ok. When problem occurs the tv displays an animated tv logo for the connected HDMI device, but only sound is heard. The only way to fix problem is to switch off power from mains to tv. Samsung has failed to fix issue for… Read more
over 3 months & with 4 onsite tech visits, replacing 3 parts on the tv. Samsung uses a 3rd party support company (iCure), so be wary that you are not being supported by Samsung in Australia directly for AV equipment. After their failed attempts I discovered through disconnecting the soundbar for a period of time that the problem vanished. Samsung won't replace the soundbar under warranty

Very poor bass and atmos performance – Hi. I have HW.Q900t. These bars have 60 days money back guarantee. Anybody attempted to return it and any success? I have submitted an online form couple of weeks back. Havnt heard from them. Their support have no idea of this promo. I'm returning the soundbar due to its underperformance. I understand these cant come close to the traditional home… Read more
theatre systems however hw-q900t performance is not up to the mark compared to other soundbars. I hear very little bass even if i set it to high both on bar and sub. Atmos performance is also dismal. Now i'm having trouble returning the bar even though its not 60 days since i purchased it.

Great unit but annoying sometimes – The unit itself is great but everytime I turn it on It starts on HDMI which is where I want it, then changes itself to DVI, and I have to change it back every time. Bloody annoying. Show details
A big improvement from my old one – I must say that this sound bar is good value for money. It performs surprisingly well. To be honest I don’t expect much from soundbars as I’m so used the proper 7.2 song home theatre sound system that even the best soundbar won’t compare. Although for the price point of this Samsung bar I’m happy. Sound seems to have height depth and width. A big… Read more
improvement from old 2.1. So far the earc Connection is working flawlessly with my lg tv (time will tell as I’m never confident on earc communication and commands eg turning itself on and off etc). But so far very happy. I’m probably going to get the additional wireless speakers though to add some genuine surround 1 issues is that for some reason the volume Varies massively between platforms eg. On live tv the volume is quiet, switch to YouTube or Netflix and it’s heaps louder, so I’m constantly adjusting especially when the kids swap between live tv and YouTube etc. slightly annoying but not the worst. Its also not the heaviest bass but actually since having young kids that’s preferable to me.

I would recommend you look for something else, there are better options out there! – This soundbar had relatively good reviews online but I was extremely disappointed with the unit I purchased. You can hear broken and distorted audio on any source unless you are listening to everything really loud - I don't believe it's worth spending the money on this product. There are other brands out there that can provide a soundbar with… Read more

I contacted Samsung about the issue and their customer service was even more disappointing! The tech at their repair centre could not detect any fault with the unit but surprisingly the staff working at their reception could. After 2 weeks I was contacted to collect the unit and was told they did not perform any repairs. After chasing Samsung several times, I ended up receiving a call to say that they are unable to provide any solution since they believed the repair centre had fix the soundbar - very interesting considering they had not receive a service report or update from the repair centre. I was made to understand that Samsung would not contact the repair centre for the service report either after Samsung themselves suggested I bring the soundbar in for diagnosis in the first place.
Overall, disappointing product and even more disappointing customer service from Samsung! If you are considering buying this product, I would strongly advise you consider purchasing something else.

Okay sound, moderate priced tag – Entry level soundbar in the samsung range with a moderate price tag. Construction feels solid and well made, remote is nimble and has a good appearance. Sound is okay with movies, occasionally the speech is hard to hear unless you turn the volume quite high. Downside no Dolby atmos. Show details

Price represents quality but could be better – good points. Crisp sound. Loud output without distortion. Compact unit. Good connectivity. Poor points no stand for rear speakers. Wall mount of bar is heavy which the brackets struggle, sagging down slightly. Bass on full is quiet when not on high volume. Show details · 1
