Samsung The Serif White 4K Smart QA55LS01BAWXXY (55")

Different in a good way – Did some research before buying something to replace our 12 year old LG 3d TV(posterized picture fail, but a pretty good run from a good tv) Haggled for $1.3k including matching samsung sound bar and cashback ($50) which is a lot more expensive than an Aldi 60" with the same bells and whistles for $700, but the Serif has one unbeatable advantage. = Matt finish screen. Doesn't sound much, but our living room has an entire 8m wall of windows 2m high. = massive screen reflection problems / glare. Even with the blinds closed, a regular TV has obvious reflections from any sneaky light entering, and with the blinds open a regular TV screen is un-watchable. The serif is a bit quirky in it's arty farty frame (but we like it), however it's not a problem to watch with the blinds open on even the brightest of days. No other TV (apart from it's sister samsung "frame" tv's) can compare. (Funny thing was the old LG was also a "satin screen" TV - but manufacturers now seem to prefer big glossy reflective pictures for home cinema in the dungeon/bomb shelter scenario) Pros- Good picture, good sound, simple setup, it just does the job well Speech controlled remote is a bit strange at first, but brilliant when you overcome fear of new tech, and so much better then multiple key input on a remote scan and select keypad. Cons - not many, on occasion the link between the sound bar (supposedly a samsung product matched to the serif) and the TV have a little domestic dispute and don't talk to each other, but "have you tried turning it off and on again?" seems to settle any issues. Slow and glitchy sometimes on spotify - but our wire internet is probably the reason here.
