Ripped Off by Samsung – I bought this TV in 2014 on the basis it was UHD.. and today just plugged in my new IQ4 box..and no compatibility for current movies..so I have been ripped off by Samsung and can’t watch what I was promised Show details
Disappointed Customer – I brought this tv with the incorrect information past to me by Samsung that this was infact a 4K tv. I was also told that the evokit would be upgradeable, my tv will not play 4K content it randomly turns itself on during the night & I contacted Samsung in regards to not playing 4K blu ray through Xbox & I was told that it didn’t support it. Not a real 4K TV. And now the smart remote failed – Not a real 4K TV. And now the smart remote failed. Did anyone get any results with ACCC or Department of Fair Trading? Or with starting a class action for false advertising?
Extremely disappointed in the work life of this TV – Purchased the TV from the owners of the house we purchased and have had issues since day one. Advertised as a 4K TV but never worked with 4K content. The TV now has issues were it turns on and turns off within seconds and does that until it is reset from the main power source. Show details
False Advertising: Not a 4K UHD! – To be honest, it’s a lovely big screen. After four years there’s no issues with dead pixels, the screen still looking okay, only some minor backlight leaking around the edges. The built-in smart apps are as good to be expected. My problem with this TV started back when we bought an Xbox One X. Wired it up and switched it over to 4K. Xbox throws… Read more
up a warning dialogue box’s saying “your TV isn’t 4K”. What the? I pass it off as the Xbox doesn’t agree with the TV and forget about it.
A year later, we buy an Apple 4K TV and wire it up. Well, guess what the Apple TV tells us! Your “TV doesn’t support 4K” and switches back to 1080p. Now I’m angry.
I bought this TV based on the published specs saying it is a 4K UHD TV! This was the flagship model? Nowhere was I told or could find any info saying I need to pay additional to get 4K.
Samsung has played me for a fool, I can’t believe I paid a lot of money for a 1080p LED TV. Considering contacting the ACCC or Department of Fair Trading for some advice.
Misleading advertising from Samsung – Purchased this TV as it was the flagship product in 2014. It was advertised as 4k UHD, but it never delivered. Moreover it was also promised an upgrade through the SEC, but the latest version made available the 4500 is more similar to an apple tv or google chromecast than an upgraded SEC. I was promised a 4k UHD TV, future ready, and I never got… Read more

Already filed two complaints. Very disappointed with Samsung.
Disappointed – Very expensive TV at the time - picture, sound quality, product features were impressive however the working life of the TV did not last long even though we used it very minimally. We have been discouraged from buying expensive and latest technology TV's because of this experience. Show details

Disappointing product with no support for apps – This was a very expensive TV at the time of purchase and while I had initial issues with dead pixels they were sorted out by Samsung eventually after some months. The issue is that samsung as ceased all support for this smart features on this TV and the quality of the apps either crash constantly or just dont install. Meaning its basically a… Read more
extremely over priced version of a normal TV not a smart TV. I would suggest avoiding these as I will not be buying another again.

Seeking class action, Samsung black screen on tv starting up – I have the same problem as people here, start up screen then black then start up screen then black and it keeps going, has there been a solution to this for anyone? I got told by a Samsung case manger to practically F off and pay for repairs, if there are enough people going through the same issue, please let me know and I can get a lawyer to look in to this. If its a lot of us we won’t have to pay for fees. Show details

Upscales a blu ray but down scales a 4k uhd using a 8500 – Whats going on is there a fix to this problem. Got all the bells an whistles to find from what i read below i have a dud. i got extended warranty on this dud. Does this count as its not capable of playing 4kuhd content as promised. I have found if its 4kuhd it down scales to 1080p u put a blu ray it upscales to 2160p what gives?? Agains is… Read more

Adding after now read about the new sek-4500 evolution box thou compatible will not work an issue with hdmi 1.4 i have on my old box. according to on line forum i be stuck with the same issue with no solution. Is this correct. if not correct what insurances do i have it will work with 1.4 apparently you need 2.0a or higher for it to work.
Just got a phone call from Samsung they explained straight of the bat with no hesitation says to me this model was not a 4K UHD. i disagreed i bought as stated as 4K UHD. Explains it only up-scales to 4K that makes no sense to me. Either plays 4K or does not and the fact it upscales normal content it should be a 4K correct. being confused so my money went into a dud. I remember the hype around this at the JB HIFI store 4k TV with 4k Content i went onto say i bought the 4k player from the same person who sold me the TV.
Did JB Hifi misadvertise aswell to make a sale??? I think not.
As another person has already stated Product was MisAdvertised to the extreme if this is the case.
And reading other reviews here and on Whirlpool and avsforums. We all believe we bought a 4k UHD TV so many of us bought this tv. so how did we all get it wrong??? and why has there been the same issue since 2013 leadin up to late 2015 models. Why would my Model be Compatible with new Evolution box SEK-4500 to fix 4K and other compatibility Issues.
Come on Samsung.

I then asked if the new SEK-4500 evo box would work and fix the issue he was not very optimistic about it working said he have our technical support crew ring shortly.
Follow up did some digging have since sent off the documentation stating what this tv is ment to do with no words on it of upscaling. been told be contacted Soon. Samsung thank you for replying and forwarding the documentation to person looking into this that i found on my model.
Kind regards and I am very disappointed with Samsung.

Deception – We have had Samsung tvs for 20 years. Such a disgrace that Samsung indicates the und65f9000 was 4 k - we’ll just got IQ 4 and the tv does not support HDCP 2.2. Very disappointed that a $6000 tv bought in 2015 can’t run 4K when it’s sold as a 4K tv. Deception at its finest Wow - just read some of the other reviews after I wrote the above - shame on you Samsung- all those years of up selling Samsung- and then this Show details

Same woes as others have mentioned – Was having trouble with uhd/4k playback as others have mentioned, contacted Samsung about it and found this thread while on hold. Was told I had to spend another $400 to have the tv work as advertised when I purchased it. As others have stated I will be contacting the consumer protection mobs as this is ridiculous. Show details

Quality TV – I've had this TV since 2014 and loved it. Had some issue lately configuring it for the new Foxtel 4K channel, but (no thanks to Samsung) managed to figure it out. I always thought the 4 HDMI ports on the One Connect panel were just numbered as such. Turns out they actually have completely different inputs. Firstly, make sure you have the blue… Read more

What an absolute disgrace – I have been an extremely happy customer having purchased the then Samsung flagship UA559000AM UHD 4K TV in 2014. However, I now read in dismay that my nearly $4,000 purchase was based on false information, with the UHD & 4K specifications a compete lie. I recently purchased new Apple TV & Foxtel boxes (the new IQ4 box) to enjoy 4K viewing & when… Read more
4K was not possible, I contacted Samsung hoping for a simple fix (i.e. change settings in the TV).
I am just at the start of this process & am finding Samsung very evasive, I have lodged complaint calls on both Tuesday & Thursday this week & am supposedly receiving a resolution from the VOC dept within 24 hours (whatever that is) - no word to date......................my hope of watching the Bathurst 1000 in 4K this weekend is rapidly fading.
I am hoping for a satisfactory resolution to this matter, however, if Samsung persists with such dishonest conduct, we may all have to band together & get this scam into the public arena.

Overpriced Rip-off – I agree with Jag and Rod, this TV is not what the hype promised at the time of purchase e.g. "One Connect" box is upgradable in order to future-proof the TV without having to buy an entirely new TV. My invoice for $5,200 in 2013 clearly states "UHD". It isn't, and when I phoned Samsung I got an entirely different story to Rod re the One Connect… Read more
box. The tech that I spoke to told me there was no upgrade that would fix this problem and that the problem was within the TV screen architecture. On that basis I don't believe that a $399 "Evolution Box" is able to rectify the problem. If It can then Samsung should be supplying this item free to all the customers it duped.
I've been a long time customer of Samsung products, but this experience leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth.

Misleading Product – Firstly I would like to say that the tv itself is absolutely brilliant. I have no problems with the quality. What upsets me is that this was sold as a 4K TV. I paid $2400.00 for it. Part of the sales price was for an alleged 4K model which upgraded for 5 years via a one connect box. I purchased this prior to 4K being available. Recently I… Read more
purchased a 4K blu ray to watch, but was unable to play it in 4K. My blu ray player is 4K. I even had a tech come over and attempt to set it up for 4K viewing. The tech had no joy either.
The following day I complained to Samsung. I was told this is really a 'virtual' 4K TV, in that it will upscale USB to 4K.
As a consumer I do not understand about virtual, partial, active, passive, and true. I expect the manufacturer to advise retail outlets and the public of the facts, so we can make an informed decision.
I have emailed Samsung 4 times now and been promised a call back each time. No one has contacted me and I am beginning to believe it is because they do not want to admit anything. I have been advised by a tech that Samsung gambled on 4K following the type put in my model, but it ended up changing direction.
I have also been advised by the salesperson at Samsung that if I would like to spend another $399.00 for an "Evolution Box", my problems will be solved.
I do not believe I should have to pay a cent. Apparently, according to my research, there are many Samsung customers, who are in the same position as I am.
I have advised Samsung that as I have not received a response to my complaints over the last 3 emails, I shall lodge a complaint through Australian Consumer Law, with Consumer Affairs. If this does not work, I shall take Samsung to court.
Whilst the product per se is brilliant, it is not what it was claimed it was.
my volume drop 0 sometime 3 after my you tube played advers – I am satisfied with this TV excellent condition perfect view quality sound picture but the inbuilt WiFi is very slow to satisfaction if there anything to make it faster that will be better. anyway let me use this opportunity to say Samsung is still my best product so keep the good work. Thanks Show details
Love it, great picture – Have had this TV for about 2 years, absolutely love it. The picture quality is great. To date have had no issues. Use the smart tv a fair bit for streaming services and YouTube etc. It all works quite well. Would happily recommend this tv to others and have done so.
No problems at all – Bought this TV for more than a year now. Love it. No issues , can't fault it. Have just upgraded the firmware and it is now connected to my gigabit ethernet. I expect this tv to last for years. It got an evolution kit board, so for upgrades just change the separate board not the 4k screen. That sounds brilliant.
Problems – I purchased the TV in May this year 2014. Took it home and connected it up and noticed a fine line down the centre of screen and also faint blotches on the rhs of screen. Rang jbhifi told them my shock horror and they viewed the TV at home and replaced the TV with a brand new one a week later. Last week 5/12 I turned the TV on and now have… Read more
multiple vertical lines in the centre of screen about 10cm wide. Not impressed now. Rang jb and advised them. Jb were really shocked to hear that I have another issue with a new TV. Something wrong – I just looked up this website to see if if anyone else is having the same problem with there new tv to find the same thing happening. we brought our tv early this year and loved it, about a month ago it wouldn't turn on straight away and displayed the start icon this would last for sometimes four hour before it finally turned on. Tv not turning on – Completely appalled with this product, UA65F9000AMXXY brand new unit out of the box would not turn on. Just displays the smart TV logo then goes to a black screen then logo re-appears then back to a black screen. Has anyone else had this problem? For the price I paid for it I expected a better product.

Superb – We bought this TV about 3 months ago, and I can't fault it. It's picture quality is superb, set up was a breeze and it works seamlessly even through wireless with our network at home - the amount of file types it plays is very impressive and we don't really need our Media Player any more. Options and controls are well laid out, and the One Connect… Read more
Box is a fantastic system - no more having to get behind the TV to connect and disconnect things, and it allows you have have it mounted on a slimline bracket like we do - it looks amazing! There's not much 4K content out at the moment, but wow the 4K looks brilliant! The 3D is magnificent, and seamless communication between the TV and the glasses. I love the touchpad remote too. It has great bundled apps and features, works seamlessly with our Home Theatre receiver and we've had absolutely no problems with it at all. Highly recommend. Picture quality, playable file types, ease of use, interface, connectivity, apps, everything! It's expensive, but well worth it! If I'm being *really* picky, when playing a file from an external source I would like it to be able to give you the option of re-starting from the beginning or from where you last stopped like some Media Players do. Otherwise, nothing at all!
Best TV ever – I have been looking for a replacement of my Samsung 58" plasma, and this was it. Image quality is incredible, old and new movies are brought back to life in a way unseen before, you can see details that you didn't know were there in the first place. External connection box, which is upgradeable, make this future proof. In June or so I will… Read more · 1
purchase the new box supporting VP9 and H.265 standards to watch streaming 4K videos from the Internet. Samsung has been releasing new firmwares regularly, showing that this is a product they support well, hopefully they will continue. Skype with embedded camera is a dream, perfect quality. Image quality, upscaling, elegant slim look, external upgradeable connections box Nothing wrong, unsure of external box upgrade price here in Australia, it could be costly
I think it's a lemon – I've only owned this TV for a few weeks, and already it's nothing but trouble. It has a lot of difficulty connecting to the internet both wired and wireless. There's a constant notice that appears on the top of the screen saving "Network Cable disconnected" when the network and cable is perfectly working. Calls to Samsung are met with disdain,… Read more
and we've been fobbed off with "You need to reset the TV" which actually makes no difference.
The interface is cumbersome and unwieldy, and over complicated.
I will keep attempting to get Samsung to fix the TV, or else I'll have to go to a tribunal and get my money back. The size and UHD screen Terrible interface and many problems
Try changing your modem/router. This is what we did to a friends Samsung UHD TV previously and made the problem disappear.
BUT PLS DONT BUY IT NOW! SMART TV NEEDS TO GET BIT MORE SMARTER! – Very bad experience with this product only got ours delivered yesterday after chasing Harvey Norman Whyalla for two weeks.Plug it in this morning it takes about five minutes to turn on,when on works fine but once switched off does not turn on only the smart TV icon flashes every now and then but after some time turns on on its own then works… Read more
fine, spoke to Samsung they were not at all surprised said will send someone to have a look may be they already know the problem with this model. The response from Whyalla Harvey Norman was as usual cold was told that they know nothing about these smart TV's did not even bother to send someone to check.
This TV is far from perfect yet but indeed a great product once they get everything right. Considering Samsung sells the same model in US for about $1000 less than Australia and the waiting period is from few weeks to months which adds to the agony with the pain of something not working from day one and promise of fixing with no certainty of replacement. looks , finish ,concept , smart hub, picture quality, Too expensive , lack of support and bit heavy to wall mount
