Had this 8 years still working – I don’t use it that much and sometimes the charging can be hit and miss but it still works as before. I’ve had to change rechargeable batteries sometimes. I find the charge ‘on or off’ a tad unnecessary and have been caught out by the lock switch but generally been ok. The aerial seems a bit too heavy for the size and weight. I like the sound, the… Read more

case and the compact size. The buttons are easy to use and the orange led display backlight is good for blue light insomnia! Being a 5 volt charger it’s quite easy to find alternatives when the original cable dies!

died – my fabulous little radio just died.. so upset. I have very little disposable income and my entertainment is the Nightlife program on the ABC. would not recommend Sangean to anyone that expected more than 2 years out of it. when it was working it had a great sound and was very portable.  Show details

Good whilst alive! – Good whilst alive. Dead and gone - less than 3 years. No real explanation from distributor except I could send it to them but it would "cost a lot of money to repair". Perhaps that's why it has been discontinued. Used it both AC and DC and I really liked it's sound. I am of an age when radios lasted a lifetime, such is life I suppose. Such a shame.

Great little radio – I really like this little radio and am surprised and disappointed to read it has been discontinued. It has very good, clear sound and is very easy to operate. I particularly like the fact that you can use either a power cord or rechargeable batteries. It is very small, so a great size for a kitchen or bathroom counter, especially without the… Read more

power cord. The "low battery" light turns red when the batteries need recharging.

I take mine in my suitcase when travelling interstate. It has good reception in hotel rooms.

I like the radio so much I am going to purchase another before stocks are exhausted. I was going to purchase at JB Hi-Fi but have found it cheaper online.

A couple of comments about other reviews:- someone commented that you can't use it in the case which was provided as there are no holes for the speakers, etc. - the case is not meant to be kept on whilst in use, it is just a very handy travel case; you don't need stacks of batteries if you use rechargeables. Someone said that you can't tell when the batteries have charged but there is a green light which flashes when the batteries are still charging - it stops flashing and stays green when the batteries are fully charged.

A real disappointment – Poor and distorted sound, poor battery life, complete failure of DAB+ after 3 months. Not able to access any digital stations apart from one that appears to be locked on. Unable to access presets. Build quality seems good. Expensive for what it is. FM works ok but no good to me.

ultra short battery charge – The noise level was acceptable , but if there had been I would have been much happier . The real problem is the enormous drain on the batteries . I tried disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries . The duration was always less than 8 hours. A portable radio can not always be kept connected to a pc to power . Of course this information is not… Read more

visible in the technical specifications on the website of Sangean . Finally I sent back the radio to the seller Amazon .

Not for use where power supplies are unavailable – This radio works quite well as far as reception is concerned but is very hard on its AA batteries which generally only last 24 hours. So ots not a radio for emergency use unless an adequate supply if batteries are avaialble. It does have a recharge facility and is not supplied with a power supply. The case needs to be removed as there are no holes for the speaker in the case.

Charger is no good – The radio works well and can find lots of stations (inAdelaide,South Australia anyway). I expected a mains charger however and was dissapointed that it could only be recharges through a computer with a USB. This means that I have to keep my computer on and waste power.so have to remove batteries and recharge with an ordinary charger. Sounds good for a small radio, easy to find stations USB battery charger no good Show reply

Non Australian Model is excellent – After a struggle I eventually got in contact with Australian importers. They confirmed that there are two versions with the same name. The one on sale in Australia is not backwards compatible with DAB, which is not much good if you take on a world tour! The Australian one gets 3 stars. The importers very kindly offered to swap the radio for the… Read more

version sold outside Australia and so we swapped. This one does both DAB and DAB+ just like all the DAB+ radios are supposed to do. This one gets 5 stars. It remains a mystery to me as to why they sell a different product with the same name inside and outside Australia. It is only on the bottom of page 2 in the owners handbook that one find a note indicating that DPR 65+ Australia model does DAB+ only. According to experts there is no cost difference between to two versions. Further, why do they use the same name.

Having said all that, it is a very nice radio. The main drawback being its current drain. One set of rechargeables will not last a day. I have not tried primary AA batteries but I would not expect more than about 20 hours continuous use. Looks, sound (for size), sensitivity. DAB and DAB+ for non-Australian version. Heavy battery drain. DAB+ only for Australian version (bought at Dick Smith)

Small package- big value – Great radio. Good sound and easy to use. The menu system is simple and the sound is clear for such a small radio. Comes with rechargeable radio, charger and leather travel case.
