Excellent sound quality. Very balanced and detailed for the price point with solid noise cancelling. Excellent comfort. I have worn these for hours when video editing and although my ears overheat a bit (like with all headphones) the cushioning and pad material is great. Initially I felt like they were oddly positioned on my head, but just… Read more

need to better adjust the headphones and wear for a while. The storage case is nice and battery life incredible. I do wish they would get a bit louder at times. While they’re mostly loud enough, some heavy guitar and trance music can be left feeling slightly deflated. Not a big problem unless you like your tunes very loud. The biggest gripe for me is the connectivity. In fact, the connect a little TOO well. I take them off for a moment and they connect automatically to any number of household devices. They’ve thrown my wife into fits of rage when I’ve been working in the home office an out of nowhere the headphones connect to the Apple TV and rob her of sound. They connect randomly to my phone and I have needed to ‘Forget Device’ then repair each time. Not a deal breaker- I still love the sound and comfort and would buy again.

I read the positive reviews before purchasing, but had a dreadful experience with the Momentum 4s and gave up on them. My strong advice is avoid them. I had Sony XH1000xm3s for several years and bought my partner a set of Sony XH1000xm4s for her birthday. The Sonys are great noise cancelling headphones. But when I went to replace my pair, I… Read more

thought I'd try the Sennheiser Momentum 4s because they were well-rated and JB Hi Fi had a big discount on them ($400, rather than $550 to $600). I'd also previously had wired Sennheisers many years ago and found them to be a good quality brand. But I regretted the purchase and ended up borrowing my partner's Sony headphones.

Positives: The headphones are incredibly comfortable and sturdy. The sound was sometimes amazing.

Negatives: Sadly, on most occasions, I found the sound cutting in-and-out. I would be listening to a song and find that something about it was missing. It was hard to know what the problem was. I'd turn them up, thinking I had them on too soft. But it was like half the instruments were muted and I was only hearing part of the track. Then suddenly the sound would kick in halfway through the song and everything in the song was finally there. This happened for probably every second track. I initially thought it was an issue with the noise cancellation, then I wondered if it was something to do with the settings. I tried updating the software, disconnecting/connecting the headphones to my phone, fiddling with the settings etc.

Eventually, not having used them for a few weeks because I didn't enjoy listening to my music cutting in and out, I looked up the symptoms online. I found other people having similar problems. Some said it was to do with the bluetooth, but it was clearly a known issue for others too.

I took them back to JB Hi Fi, which sent them to Sennheiser. After a few weeks, Sennheiser replaced them under warranty. But then the problem happened again and again, so I took them back again. Thankfully JB Hi Fi was really helpful and offered to swap them for a pair of Sony Sony XH1000xm5 headphones. I couldn't be happier with those. I don't plan to go back.

Best wireless multi-purpose set on the market – I am a retired audiophile and have had many sets of headphones for live sound ops, casual listening, gym use, and for office teleconference use. I use a Samsung and Dell/Windows ecosystem. The Momentum 4 wireless headphones are pretty much the dream head set I have always been waiting for, offering many types of use in one complete package. They… Read more ·  1

come with the USB charge cable (you can charge whilst using if desired), a minijack-minijack cable for say airplane use, and even with the double pinned airplane adaptor. All provided in a good quality carry case. Build quality is very good. They are a tad heavy and feel well made with a premium look & feel as it says on the package. The soft material used on the outside of the headband is both attractive and robust. Ear cups are internally marked L and R so you get things on your head the right way around. Gesture controls are easy and work well to skip songs, start/end calls etc. These seem to be a design progression from the old PXC-550 headphones by Sennheiser. Physical fit is really good with padded ear cups and headband. Size is adjustable on both sides independently. If they feel like they are "squeezing" your head, it's because they need to be adjusted bigger. A past problem I have had with headphones is pads wearing holes due to my glasses - keen to see how these go. Replacement pads don't seem to be expensive, circa $30. You use the free Sennheiser Smart Control App to control and program the headphones, setting up ANC modes, EQ, loudness function etc. is a breeze. Sound quality is excellent, although probably would not match high-end wired headphones - which would be more expensive. Overall, the sound is a bit more "warm" than a typical Sennheiser set. There is a timbre to the sound that makes it sound dynamic. Like any headphones you need to set up your sound signal right in the first place to get the best sound quality from the headphones, then music is very clear but warm (I listen to many types of music from jazz to metal). And with 42mm drivers, the bass DOES go fairly low, around 22-25Hz I would guess, although the Specification claims 6Hz.... The EQ in the App is quite sensitive so you can adjust to your desire across 5 bands. Microphone quality is far better than any other set I have used (tested using MSTeams call back test) and there is smart wind noise filtering. Active Noise Cancelling works well, with variable levels and some automation built in. There is a talk-through function so you can hear yourself talk on a call, even with ANC running. The hidden gem with the Momentum 4 Wireless is how well they do multi-channel Bluetooth - it actually works extremely well. Thus, I can listen to music on my laptop but still control the headphones with my phone! Switching sources is automated but amazingly works really well. This is a dream come true. The BEST feature is the battery life. They will actually do 60hrs of use WITH ANC ACTIVE. This is great performance in anyone's books. On price, I am not sure they are worth the current RRP of AU$679. To me the sound quality is congruous to a $500 set of wired headphones. I bought mine, the Special Edition with gold badges, as "A-grade shop demo model" for under $300. Hence the 4-stars for Value. If I had to have a gripe, it would be the physical location of the main power button. It is on the rear of one earcup and so if you use the headphones in bed, the button is always touching the pillow and inadvertently switching (one of the buttons functions to activate Siri or Google Assistant). A minor design oversight. Very happy, great job Sennheiser.

Very disappointed – I've never had so much trouble with a pair of headphones. I paid a lot of money and my expectations were high because my previous Sennheisers (BT450) were good. It seems that Sennheiser has tried to cram in too much "technology" to the Momentum 4 too quickly. I feel like a 450AU guinea pig. The touchpad is way too sensitive - I mis-touch it all… Read more

the time - next time I buy headphones I'll avoid touch interfaces and go for buttons. If I tilt my head in a particular way or if I don't have the headphones mounted on my head in EXACTLY the right way, the music pauses. The BT connection is unreliable. The sound is sometimes "glitchy". I've ended up resorting to just using them as wired headphones.

Great sound and battery life – I bought these for my wife for her birthday and liked them so much I bought myself a pair. The connectivity is really good. There is no need to use the on/off button as they turn on when you put them on and turn off when in the provided zip-up hard case. My wife watches Apple TV which automatically connects to the headphones and mutes external… Read more

audio when put on. They pretty much act like Apple headphones and will connect to iPad/iPhone automatically and work really well taking calls etc. The noise cancelling works very well and outside sound is muted through the plush earpads that are very comfortable. We recently took these overseas and my wife told me she couldn't believe how noisy it was on an aeroplane without them. Battery life is great. You can get way over a week without charging listening 4-5 hours a day. I use these mostly with my Playstation 5, you can watch Netflix etc and play games but the microphone doesn't work for PS5 voip gaming which is the only downside I've found with these headphones. You also need to buy a 3rd party USB bluetooth adapter with PS5 as the Sennheiser BTD 600 adapter DOES NOT WORK with PS5. ***FYI the Avantree C81 USB-C adapter does. You can also connect with a 3.5mm plug to the controller. The headphones sit in a semi-hard canvas zip up case which also holds various cables including a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm cable and an old school twin prong adapter for aeroplanes. Love these cans and use them every day. ***Edit Note April 2025: the Avantree C81 no longer works with these headphones. I'm pretty sure this is a Playstation 5 firmware update that has done this but they no longer work with PS5. Very dissappointing.

Bad customer service – i bought Sennheiser Momentum 4 Special Edition 2 weeks ago, the sound is good, but i had signal (intermitting) cutting off and on, i approached the Customer Service and they told me to send to the service Centre, they were not able to give advice or a reason for this bug. this will be an extra cost and wait a few weeks to get it back. very bad and unprofessional service from Sennheiser.

Very poor product completely not worth the high price – Issues- - Random disconnects for no reason. - Tap controls don't work or only work at random this includes pause, volume etc - Noise cancellation is not effective..can easily hear surroundings - Will randomly start playing a paused song or item in spotify even when headset is on the floor(!) - Lots of movements during excercise involve moving the… Read more

shoulder closer to the head, this means this touches the earphone and the music stops, Who thought this was a good idea?! I wish I could return this and get a Bose which has much more user friendly controls but cannot return headphones due to understandable hygiene reasons.

They sound great when they work. However, they are very unreliable. And services is really bad – I have had the Momentum 4 now for 18 month. In that time I have had to have them replaced 3 time. Currently they are faulty again and I have informed Sennheiser services provide of this fact two weeks ago. They have still not even sorted out to have the faulty unit picked up. Show details
