Outstanding vacuum cleaner. Only one ever to successfully remove dog hair from couch and carpet. Many great features including lights on vacuum head, self-emptying (came with fragrance block which activates on emptying) and excellent run time when vacuum fully charged. Highly recommend.
When you are shopping for a new vacuum cleaner it is easy to get caught up in specifications like maximum suction power or Hepa Filtration etc. or with fancy features like the Dyson V15 Detect's LCD Screen which shows how many particles of dust you have sucked up & what sizes the particles were. You have to look past the marketing hype & decide which features will really help you to clean.
I live in a 3 bedroom apartment with a floor area of 159 sqm. the bedrooms are carpeted & the other areas are hard floors, tile & laminate.
The twin roller head works on both floor types & automatically adjusts for each floor type. The head also works in both directions, forwards & backwards, which means less strokes to get the floor clean. The head also features led lights on the front & back of the head, to illuminate dirt on the floor. The rear lights change color from purple (dirty floor) to white (clean floor) as you vacuum. This tells you when the floor is clean! You can see the color change as you make each pass, fantastic! The wand can be articulated by pressing a button on the rear of the wand. This lets you clean under furniture easily without bending down too low.
The 'Power Detect' feature works well. You can hear the motor power varying as the vacuum detects how much dust is being sucked in (using a built in a sensor). This helps to save power, thus extending the runtime of the vacuum. Note that any vacuum cleaner rarely ever runs at full power (this is why maximum power specs don't mean a lot) & vacuums will only run at full power for 5 to 8 minutes, before the battery is depleted. The battery life is rated up to 70 minutes. I have never depleted the battery when cleaning my unit. The Shark only comes with one battery, which is very slow charging (3 to 5 hours). If you have a large unit or house, it would be wise to buy a spare battery.
Another useful feature is Wall Detect. As you move the head along a wall, the vacuum automatically increases the suction power to pick up dust along the wall base. This works very well!
All of my previous cordless vacuum cleaners required manual emptying of the dust canister. This was one job that I always hated doing after each full apartment cleaning. The Clean & Empty system has been a godsend! Each time you place the stick vacuum back on the charging stand, the dust canister is automatically emptied. There is a second vacuum cleaner in the stand, which sucks the dust out of the stick vacuum & deposits it in a large bagless dust bin, which requires emptying roughly every 45 days. Both the stick vacuum & charging stand vacuum have full HEPA filter systems, with washable, reuseable foam filters.
Included accessories are a dust & crevice tool, pet multi-tool & motorised hand tool.
In conclusion, I must say that I am very pleased with the Shark Power Detect Speed Clean & Empty IP3521ANZ Vacuum cleaner & would recommend this machine.

I purchased this after persevering with a Dyson cordless on my hard floors (useless). I absolutely love it! It actually sucks up most dirt, dog hair, dead flies, small stones and other debris. Unlike the Dyson. It doesn't quite get right into the corners, but it's easy to pop the head off and just use the tube to get those little bits. I love how it auto increases the suction against the skirting boards. The bend/hinge in the pipe is great for getting under low furniture and you don't have to wrestle with it to do it. I do have three dogs in my house so there is a significant amount of pet hair. On occasion the bend will get blocked, but it's easy enough to clear, once straightened out again. I have only once had to stick something down the pipe to clear it. (There was a small piece of cardboard, wedged in it). The included tools are great. The canister that collects the dirt on the vacuum is small, but that's the beauty of the empty system. You just dock it and it empties in about 5 seconds. I have a 4 bedroom house with hard floors, no carpet. The battery lasts really well. I empty the dust collection canister about once a month. Overall it's been a great purchase. I have only had it for 3 months, but so far so good.
we are a family of significantly disabled's, me with two knee replacements and significant back mobility issues, my wife and son with hip/knee and upper and lower body issues so we are three people with limited ability attempting to manage cleaning maintenance within our home. We have had relatively costly vacuum cleaners before which we found basically useless especially they which are fitted with hepa filters which clog almost immediately and so the vacuum cleaner then refuses to run. We had seen the promos for the Shark power detect especially on wooden and tiled floors and also for carpet so decided to purchase one and we have never been happier or more pleased with it and heartily recommend it. We purchased it via the Shark Australia website direct and was delivered in days so excellent delivery and it was easy to unpack and we were very specific about reading the directions and any assembly required which was minimal, the vacuum cleaner is on a stand and has a battery in the handle which requires around 5 hours charging. The vacuum cleaning performance is exceptional and you can visibly see the carpet being lifted when vacuumed so plenty of power and see the amount of the dust and grit being sucked out was outstanding. We assumed that the house was reasonably clean so we would not have expected to see the huge amount of dust or grit and other materials vacuumed up by this machine which is visible in the dust collector which is easily removable by pushing buttons and dumping the collected dust and particles into a waste bin for disposal . The vacuum cleaner is very efficient and excellent for cleaning carpets, it is not noisy certainly no noisier than any other machine and after we felt that we had been dudded previously buying select other vacuum cleaners (Hoover and other good brands) and although considered somewhat costly we heartily recommend the Shark PowerDetect clean and empty
