I’ve stopped using this product. It used to be great, now it’s very poor and leaves a lot of food bits and residue. The biggest problem is that the powder turns into concrete lumps and most stays rock hard in the dishwasher dispenser. Will never use again.

Follow-up  · My dishwasher is a Bosch Silence Plus. This dishwasher is about 6 years old and is still running great. The dispenser still works as it should. So nothing has changed except the quality of the detergent. I have swapped to a slightly dearer brand and things are now back to normal as per what I would expect with the cleanliness of the dishes.

Purchased in at Woolworths for $3.90.

Used to be good until the "New Improved Formula" Just another product Woolworths have ruined in order to see better returns for their shareholders no doubt.... Now its just as rubbish as the ALDI and Coles branded powder. ●●Pros:●● -It still leaves less chalky residue compared to ALDI powder though. -Its still dishwashing powder just not as good value as previously.

●●Cons●● (& why its no good anymore)

-Fails to remove grease/oil residue. Check your silverware for grease and oil as they have clearly cut down on the detergent part and added more filler.

-Does not remove slight burnt on food and stains from stainless cookware, that the previous variant would.

-Is not as concentrated as before meaning you need more. (Previously 2 caps was enough to wash and clean grease from a full load, now it takes about 4 caps.) (I ensured to clean my machine prior as well in case it was grease build up etc)

-Price has gone up, quality has gone down. Typical colesworth scam tactics...

●●Why the older variant and formula matter●●

Within the powder formula are chemicals and detergents, the percentage of those chemcial products that mix the oil with water as pil and water dont mix is cruicial to how well the formula performs. Woolies and coles etc dont care as if its less effective, you use more and have to buy more products to ensure your machine works.

The detergent is like degreaser, less of it means the grease will remain in the machine and not mix with water, ie oil and grease float so the water thats recycled in your machine will blow that floating oil all through the machine, covering everything inside.

Less means its cheaper for the manufacturer to produce, likely requested by the buyer to cut costs, but could be due to a supplier change or unavailability of ingredients/ chemicals.

However this creates a flow on effect for consumers that means more likelyhood of your machine needing more regular specialist chemical cleaners, need to use rinse, drain cleaner, dishwasher cleaner etc etc and it also creates the likely hood of blocked pipes and drains due to this oil not being emulsified or mixed and flushed down the drain as well.

Also if this formula is packed with more salt or filler, you tend to get a white residue left on plates and glassware etc. It also damages plastic ware over time. Ie the Aldi brand powder. Now the supposed solution is to use rinse aid each time which comes out in the final rinse and strips the residue off the contents. But this means its a flase economy buying the cheaper powder when previousky it was all in one powder.

So long story short, buyer beware and all good things come to an end. Shop around for bulk dishwashing powder that actually works, cheaper than woolies coles aldi or iga. Its affoardable and available at cleaning supply stores etc.

Fantastic – Works as well as the best tablets out there. But I prefer powder as 1 tablet has too much detergent for a regular load. Of course you need rinse aid.

Good value and good cleaning – Leave dishes sparkling, not as good on cheese and lipstick on short cycles compared to other brands. It is a fine powder and dissolves well and does not leave residue, compared to Finish powder, which I often find does. It also does not go clumpy in the bottle. Great on glassware. Nice scent, it is more bubble-gum than lemon fragranced, and it is easy to pour.

Price is reasonable, would never go back to using tablets. Washing on a longer and hotter cycle with a cheaper detergent is more economical than buying expensive tablets, and has better results.
