what was then the top of the range Shokz headset. I absolutely love the technology as I have a hearing disability and the bone transmission enables me to hear clearly. That original unit stopped working after about 18 Months. When I returned them to the place of purchase I was not made aware of the 2 year warranty period and the place of purchase did offer me a good price on the next generation Shokz Run Pro, so I bought one again. I started using the new supplied version about July / August 2024.

In late November 2025 the arm over the top broke (the unit still worked so I slipped a tube around the break to stabilise the arm) then on the 5th January 2026 the hearing arm broke and 12th January 2026 the left side speaker stopped working properly. At no point was the headset abused or dropped, simply the breaks are due to fatigue of inferior materials during normal use.

I contacted Shokz and they asked if I can provide proof of purchase, unfortunately the Business archives the Receipts so I can not prove the date of purchase. So Shokz said give us the product ID serial number and told me to look, but the serial number is located where the charging connects to the headset and it can easily be worn off.

I can only conclude that the serial number is deliberately positioned so it rubs off with daily charging and on that basis Shokz are declining any warranty.

Mary told me she would get in touch with the Australian support people for me and I was expecting a drawn-out conversation with the Australian Shokz people as is usual with other companies products. A brand new set of headphones arrived at my door two days later... I was gobsmacked. Truly amazing customer service! I normally would give 4 stars as the product partially failed during the warranty period but I was still using it to do language training and get vehicle radar alarms when riding on my bicycle which was greatly appreciated. It was just not worth listening to music in this condition. These headphones are regularly used in the rain, in very humid weather and subjected to a lot of sweat. Phone calls are super easy to take and very clear with these headphones. Literally the only legitimate problems I have with them is that they tangle in my bicycle helmet chin strap when I remove the helmet and come off with the helmet, usually landing on the ground. I cant take them off before removing my helmet so short of feeling for a tangle prior to helmet removal, I really can't see an easy fix for this. These headphones do not fit under a motorcycle helmet so remember to remove them before you attempt to tear your ears off. When lying on your back the headphones have such a hoop at the back of your head they try to push off your ears and feel very uncomfortable. A variable length arrangement around the back of the head would be very handy indeed and may also allow for wearing under a motorcycle helmet if the connection between ear-pieces was flat rather than rounded. I rate these headphones very highly. Edited 27th Feb, 2026. The replacement set has now lost the right channel, same problem as when under warranty. I'm going to give artevive earbuds a go. At least they'll fit with bicycle and motorcycle helmets.
