Oil possibly dried up and causing tension problems – Had problems with it since I bought it, but since I don't use it often the warranty ran out. Honestly, warranty should be based on how many times it's used and not time based! What a waste of my money! Problems include tension settings not working properly and length of stitch not working properly, and now reverse button is stuck in reverse even… Read more

though I haven't pressed it. It's utterly useless, often I have to hand stitch instead. I need to buy a new sewing machine, which is so disappointing because I've barely used this Singer (expensive) machine!

If only warranty was based on usage or number of stitches, rather than time.... Let's be honest, many people use sewing machine seldomly, and not in a school setting or factory setting.

UPDATE: Increased star rating ⭐ due to excellent after sales communication, but I won't be spending the money to fix it when considering the initial cost of the machine.

Thread breaking – Purchased this machine a few months ago. I am very disappointed when I stared using it. First the tension wasn't right so I worked on that took a few days but I did get there, the tension is great stitching is nice, only thing is if I sew to slow the top thread breaks if I sew to fast the top thread breaks, I have made sure that the thread is… Read more

the same top and bottom, needle is in the correct way and is not blunt. To sew on line it took 3 attempts as like I said thread kept breaking, very frustrating.

Just a badly designed and hard to use machine!! – Bobbin set up is time consuming, and jams all the time. Never another Singer! The time wasted on constantly pulling the bobbin in and out mars the enjoyment of sewing and making things. Show details

Shattered light bulb and difficulty raising bobbin thread – I have to agree with other posts concerning this machine. I only bought it for simple hemming and repairs, my days of actual dressmaking are long gone. I've found raising the bobbin thread very difficult and can spend 30 minutes attempting it. The other day - after my 30 minutes - I started sewing only to have the light bulb explode and my… Read more

power was gone. I had to go to my meter board and flick the switch to resume power. When I removed the cover I found the globe had completely shattered and now I can't remove what's left of the bulb.

Worst machine ever – Very disappointed (and frustrating)...Problem with raising the bobbin thread to start sewing. Handwheel very hard to turn. Cheap & nasty.

Never will buy a Singer again – I bought a Singer (not ths model) but it been a pain in the neck since I got it - always have problems with the tension - its never the same no matter how much you fiddle with it or test it - its just screws things up. I had heard that the Singer factory burned down a number of years ago and now the 'word' is that you cant buy a decent singer anymore because the quality is poor. I have to agree.

Exploded – I'm a new sewer and to this machine by recomendation. I followed all the instructions to thread the bobbing and top thread, put it on a basic stitch and started to see a pillow case. 15 seconds in it exploded and the light bulb shattered. What went wrong? Did I do something wrong or is it defective?
