I have smeg appliances installed in my kitchen and the building is only 5 years old . The gas cooktop - large burner doesn’t work . Oven - timer doesn’t work . Rangehood - fan lags in turning on and now makes a whirring noise , dishwasher - sometimes the detergent panel doesn’t open during the cycle . I thought quite highly of smeg appliances but seems their products aren’t good

Purchase a Smeg induction 60cm cooktop in Aug 2025. It stopped working in Dec. Lodged a warranty claim straight away. Now February 2026 and we still have a cooktop that doesn't work. I had to contact the repair agent to get them to acknowledge the job. They rang me back in early January told me they had ordered parts. Have heard nothing since. Still having to use a portable gas cook top. This is the first and last Smeg appliance I will own.

I accidentally smashed the inner glass panel of my SMEG oven door on 19 January when a tray tipped forward while placing it in the oven. I immediately contacted an authorised SMEG service specialist in Wellington, who has been forced to liaise… Read more

directly with SMEG Australia, as there is currently no SMEG distributor based in Wellington.

While I understand the damage was accidental and that replacement parts need to be sourced from Australia, it has now been several weeks and I still do not have a confirmed installation date. Updates have been minimal from Australia and I (& the Wellington specialist) have had to follow up repeatedly to obtain basic information.

For a premium appliance brand, this level of delay and lack of proactive communication is disappointing. The absence of a local distributor should not result in customers being left without clear timeframes or certainty about when repairs will be completed.

I am simply requesting a confirmed installation date and clear communication. At present, the service experience does not reflect the quality or price point associated with SMEG products.

Follow-up  · To be honest, we will not be buying SMEG again. The excessive delay for repair and cost has left us with a reinforced negative customer experience.

I have a kitchen full of SMEG appliances and yesterday I urgently needed to ask a technical question about their Gas Cooktop while the gas fitter /plumber was in my house. I rang Customer Service three times and each time, when the call was answered and I explained that I needed to speak to a technician, I was cut off. When I relayed this to a… Read more

salesman at a SMEG retail appliance shop today, he assured me that I am not alone and he has heard many many poor SMEG customer service reviews. He actually steered my away from SMEG and assured me I would be much better off with NEFF APPLIANCES.

As part of a kitchen upgrade, I had a new oven installed in July 25. It didn't work from the start and I had to have it repaired before it would work. The repairer told me that most ovens need to be "burnt off" following installation due to condensation causing an issue which trips off your circuit-breaker. I accepted that explanation at the time.… Read more

Three months later and after using the oven about six times, the inside glass panels just dropped off over the weekend whilst opening the oven door to use it. Now I'm being told I need to have it repaired again! Why should I have to repair a brand new oven? The Qld supplier was very helpful, as was the repairer, however when I called Smeg Australia, they didn't want to take any details or explain the process.

I was very disappointed with the attitude of the girl on the phone. When I asked her to take my details so she could get back to me, she said she didn't need to. They weren't interested that this had happened or try to investigate how it why it happened. I want to have the oven replaced, as I am starting to believe I've bought a lemon! Where is the customer service these days? I'm not happy at all, as you'd expect a "technological superior product" to last at least longer than the warranty!

No. I don't slam the oven door. I don't have children playing around with the oven. I have just purchased three large Smeg appliances but am so disappointed with the head office service centre's response. Is this a lemon? Do I have to expect further things to go wrong with it? If the glass doors haven't been affixed properly, is it unreasonable to expect that the rest of the workmanship is just as shoddy? Is it unreasonable to ask if other ovens have experienced the same issues that I've encountered? Not happy at all!!!

As a follow up, eventually the repairer came out to assess the state of the oven. Whilst he was there, I stated that I didn't want to have the oven repaired, because why should I accept what I felt was a "lemon"? To their credit, when I followed up with Smeg, they eventually replaced the oven with a brand new one. I have had no problems since then and am delighted with my purchase.

After all the tremendous frustration I have faced with the SMEG Dishwasher DWAU6214X4 after purchasing it 6 years back (Apparently the worst SMEG dishwasher ever - A total piece of junk according to many reviews)...I finally decided to purchase the… Read more

next model up DWAU6224X4 from SMEG. Unfortunate that I had to pay $600 for this model (subsidised). I was resigned to going for Miele instead - but went for this model as has a 5 year warranty! We live in hope.

Follow-up  · Noise level - Acceptable… it is not noisy. Installation- seems ok…so far. Wash cycle can be selected based on the items to be washed.

We bought this cooker last year, and the experience has been challenging. Delivery— Nightmare when they threatened not to deliver the cooker inside the house, only the driveway. Suggesting our trades could do it,in the end they sent 5 men. Yes we have stairs and yes we advised them before purchase. Cooker - Beautiful cooker looks amazing but… Read more

the induction broke 2 weeks after installation. Excellent service they replaced with a brand new cooker (no delivery issues this time). This time, the cooker lasted 3 months, and the induction broke again. We are now asking for a refund as there is obviously a fundamental issue with these cookers. Advice to anyone is avoid at all costs.

At the time of building our new home, we upgraded from Westinghouse appliances to Smeg appliances. Since we took ownership of our new home we have defects to oven, cooktop, dishwasher and kitchen mixer tap. Some of the appliances e.g. cooktop and oven have multiple defects requiring multiple inspections, parts replacements etc. which only served… Read more

as temporary fix and problem came back later. For example, oven timer which has been replaced twice, Smeg Service and Smeg Projects & New Homes refused to replace the oven but continue to replace the timer until eventually out of warranty. More example below:

Replace cooktop control panel - twice. Replace rusty oven stainless steel door. Replace oven timer - twice. Replace kitchen mixer tap. Replace dishwasher controller.

Most recent issue is the cooktop (photo attached) that is lifted from the benchtop. Smeg replaced the mountain pin on Friday 7/2/2025, but that didn't fix the issue. Was told that is the best they can do (replace the mountain pin), and as Smeg did not install the cooktop therefore cannot be held liable. The cooktop continues to be lifted from the benchtop. Requested to speak to someone but ignored. Even wrote to the CEO [Name Removed], no reply at all.

We are not talking about which products will last 10 or 15 years, we are talking about 3 years and there are defects pretty much on all Smeg appliances e.g. stove, oven, kitchen mixer tap and dishwashers that were installed at our new home. I would give zero star to Smeg products. Warning to anyone consider upgrading or installing Smeg appliance.

A+for communication – Outstanding customer contact by Smeg. I placed an order with Harvey Norman online for a dishwasher and rangehood. I decided to go with a different range hood to the Smeg one I ordered... And cancelled it within an hour of placing it. I was sent an email by Harvey Norman telling me I would receive my refund within a few days. And i waited ..and… Read more

waited... Smeg contacted me to confirm delivery of the dishwasher, so I asked them who to contact at Harvey Norman.. Who I had still not heard from or received a refund from .. Smeg-answered emails within 24 hours. Harvey Norman-it took 3 weeks. Order straight from Smeg is my recommendation. Leave out the middle man. PS. I changed my mind again about the rangehood and ordered straight from Smeg :)

SMEG Quality Control Does not exist – order was $7,990.00 for a oven, delivered with a massive dent 1/11, no Quality assurance was done by SMEG and response was 8 days later! buyer beware because you will have to cover costs of removal, reinstall from your old to your new, there is no customer experience if you choose this product

Exceptional Customer Service from Smeg – An issue with my freestanding 90cm Oven occurred last night and I contacted Smeg Aust today and their level of customer service has been exceptional. any more helpful if they tried. The level of service was above expectations and assistance was great when we had an issue with the warranty. From this experience I have said to my partner as we are about to build a new house, I want to purchase Smeg appliances as their appliances are very good and if anything goes wrong, we know their customer service is amazing, and they are great to deal with.

to full resolution is atleast 4 weeks and 2 technician appointment. Meaning I'm washing dishes with hands for a large family for atleast 3-4 weeks.

Luckily covered under 5 year warranty, but it would have been a costly affair to keep this dishwasher.

I'm asking for a full replacement of this model with other newer model, but kept on hold on phone for last 30 mins from Smeg with no response.

Phone call today – I have just moved into a new unit in Mount Waverley Victoria and have a Smeg oven and cooktop. No instructions were left by the previous owner. Mel Taylor was brilliant in her assistance. She had patience, understanding and was the most helpful person I have dealt with in a long time. She is to be congratulated for her manner, friendliness and in every respect of her position Many thanks Mel, keep up your good work, Gwen Dunstan Show details

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE APPLIANCES – The apartment we purchased new has SMEG cooktop, oven, dishwasher installed. All 3 appliances are cheap quality and not fit for purpose. OVEN has cheap interior, spillage cannot be removed and the fan is very noisy DISHWASHER… Read more

Must be the most unreliable brand on the planet – We completely renovated this kitchen with Smeg, oven, microwave, steam oven, range hood, gas hob, warming drawer and dishwasher. *The steam oven failed before it was ever used, digital display unreadable, this was replaced under warranty but failed again soon after and as we were abroad for a period were then told it was out of warranty! It had… Read more

NEVER BEEN USED! We attempted to use it ONCE without the digital display and since then it remains unused. * The lights and digital display on the oven failed making it nigh on impossible to see to set the temperature, we have to use a torch. The oven takes forever to reach temperature but fingers crossed still works. * The dishwasher is temperamental, works some of the time but has strange periods when it just will not turn on, wait half a day and it works….for now!! * The microwave has worked until last night when it just stopped and now does nothing. *The gas hob and range hood are the only appliances which have worked consistently. The warming drawer we have never used ( really an unnecessary addition)

The controls on each appliance are not user friendly and the instruction manuals leave much to be desired.

Buying SMEG was the worst decision we have ever made. This is our holiday home and used only a few months a year which makes the failure of these products even more frustrating.

In other homes we have experience of BOSCH, NEFF, SIEMENS and MIELE all of which far exceed the quality, reliability and user friendliness of SMEG.

THE FACT THAT ALL but one of THE APPLIANCES HAVE FAILED TO PERFORM WITH A REASONABLE DEGREE OF RELIABILITY SAYS IT ALL!!

I gave them the correct model and told them to replace fan force elements And I wanted a smeg serviceman because I am willing to pay more than I was quoted by a local man to be $165 inclusive of parts. think also i contract our to some locales as his ?) Within few seconds he said too heavy, I need it need two persons.. When I told him I did gave the model number and he should know the oven. He said "They did not tell me" The original bill quote was $$135 labour plus parts $115 which I am happy to pay. But on the return visit I was charge: Service $135 x 2, labour and testing $30 x 2, labour and testing $60.(they did not test at all) He not even turn the oven on and no testing at all. I have to to said to him " let me turn on to see if it is ok" the whole process took less than 20 minutes Total bill $532.40

I expert full excess refund , I am willing to pay only$135 =$115 So refund or I may go to VCAT or explain in full why testing $30x2 plus a lifter $135
