If they improve it could be useless – Stops in the middle of a cycle. Does not wash top shelf properly. Only works on hottest setting. Takes for ever to wash dishes. Zero star to SMEG – So this dishwasher was purchased with a 2 year extended warranty, and its broken a number of times. It's already had 2 call outs, the first as it wouldn't drain. the hottest cycle, it leaves residue on all glasses, dishes need to be rinsed before loading otherwise it leaves things on plates, and its now stopped draining. And its only 2.5 years old. This is not what you expect from a "premium brand", but reading the reviews, most people are saying the same thing about SMEG...the quality and reliability just isn't good. Stick to what you are good at and stop making dishwashers.

very happy with the service – The Smeg dishwasher DWA 149S , purchased just over 4 years ago, is very quiet and cleans the dishes perfectly. I am particularly happy with the service Smeg provides. Steve Cullen (the sales manager) could not have been more obliging in providing a new 'spray arm' foc when the dishwasher suffered a bit of a glitch recently. Smeg is an absolute piece of junk! – So disapointed in my smeg appliances. Not only did my microwave have to be replaced after so many repairs, my dishwasher is again leaking. the 3rd time just in regards to the leaking water! So not happy at all with my smeg purchases. Thankfully i took out the extended warrenty and I think once that is up, my smeg dishwasher will go the tip where it belongs. I will never purchase a smeg appliance again! The dishwasher should of been replaced from the start buy the company! Poor effort.

complaining about. It always left residue and some plates were never cleaned. Coffee cups would always need to be rewashed. It stopped working 1 month out of warrenty i looked into getting it fixed but it cost nearly as much as a new dishwasher! Then it miraculously started working again 2-3 days later. Well now it has gone again and it's not matching any of the error codes in the manual. It starts and pumps water for a bit then beeps and flashes. This machine is 4 years old and we use it once a week. I will not be buying a smeg again and I will definitly be doing my research in the future. Very dissapointed.

Do not buy Smeg products – Bought my DWA149S dishwasher on the 05/07/2013. ONLY 10 days after expiring the warranty, it stopped working. As per instruction manual, it appears to be an aquastop failure. advise of the charges. It will be at least $99 for the technician to come over and have a look and then the labor and parts for the repair will be quoted separately.

Why this should happen for an expensive Italian made product? Has it been designed to work only for two years or probably designed to fail just after two years of initial warranty. WILL NEVER EVER BUY AN SMEG PRODUCT AGAIN.

Very disappointed with the product and service.

July 19th 2016 Update: Not a happy customer

After a year of contacting SMEG and Wood Enterprise in QLD, and at least 5 visits from SMEG technician, the dishwasher still doesn't work.

Wood Ent and SMEG refuse to reply to my emails anymore.

Spend your money somewhere else where there is more responsibility and care.

July 20th 2016 Update: Not a happy customer

I wrote a review about this product a year ago. I was contacted by SMEG and offered to fix the issue. During the past 12 months, their technician has come to our place several times without the ability to fix the issue. Still same problem exists. SMEG and their local partner refuse to respond to the emails.

Spend your money with responsible people who care about you and their own brand.

Will never buy Smeg again!!! – Nothing but trouble. Only had it for 3 years and would expect the machine being a Smeg with a good name to last longer. After about a year the top shelf stopped cleaning and we used a dishwasher cleaner twice a week to try and get the top section cleaning, to no avail. nothing worked. We now can't even use the top shelf unless the cups are pretty much clean to start with...Even the left over cardboard specs in brand new cups wasn't cleaned off the cups when washed on the top shelf. Not happy and will never buy anything Smeg ever again :(

Terrible dishwasher – Moved into a beautiful 2 year old house with all Smeg appliances which we thought was fantastic. Within a week the door wouldn't close on the dishwasher and appeared twisted. cannot be closed. Extremely disappointing and left to buy a new dishwasher which will not be a Smeg as I am not inclined to pay another $90 for a repair man to do nothing.

27th February 2015 Update:

Further to my previous review regarding issues with the door of our dishwasher I am pleased to advise that Smeg has offered to repair the door. Very impressed with their level of after sales customer service and all credit to Smeg for attending to this very promptly.
