So disappointed in this dishwasher!!! – So disappointed in this dishwasher!!! The dishes come out with residue most days and feel so dirty still- that’s after over an hour of being washed on the hottest setting! It makes me feel sick thinking about all the dirt and grime so I have to hand wash them again each time. I’ve tried every dish tab but it’s definitely the dishwasher itself. Inferior product, inbuilt obsolescence and extortionate price to repair! – We purchased this product in May 2014 from Harvey Norman for $500. Over the last 4years it has serviced my husband and I with mostly trouble free dishwashing, however, nearly 4years from the date of purchase (May 2018) it has just blown a major component, leaving the the product unusable. This is completely unacceptable that a Smeg product will cost double the original purchase price of the dishwasher to repair, not to mention how unfeasible it is. For a large company such as Smeg, I believe they have an ethical responsibility to the environment to produce products that won’t break after 4 years, and in most cases, be replaced with a new dishwasher, resulting in the old product being sent to landfill. It is not unreasonable to expect that a high purchase product such as a dishwasher lasts at least 10 years of regular use, before it requires the replacement of major components. Smeg Australia’s website says they “offer premium quality domestic appliances”, however, from our experience it produces products with inbuilt obsolescence. We opted to purchase a Smeg dishwasher over other leading brand dishwashers due to Smeg’s reputation for quality products however, this has left a bad taste in our mouth regarding Smeg products.

At 5 years it requires a Main PCB. $375 wholesale! What a Rip Off – At the price of the machine you would expect 10 years operation particularly when it is only catering to 2 people. I will be buying a brand new beko with a 5 year warranty. Can’t lose.

We have been very pleased with the washing capability of the machine but be aware of Smeg’s RIP OFF mentality.

Ripoff – Purchased 2 years ago. Electronics died, replacement part is $400 plus $125 callout, plus $120/hr for however long they are here fixing the unit. All of this adds up to more than the cost of a brand new better quality replacement. A whitegood should last more than two years. No wonder it's a discontinued model. This dishwasher is a heap of junk, – Broken down again.Wont pump out water. Had it repaired 4 months ago and have to pay another $100 plus for another visit so why spend good money on a dog.Has been a disappointment since first purchased. that was not the problem. Eventually after us blowing our stack Smeg sent a technician up from Sydney with a new machine after the company who were engaged to do the repairs, under warranty, tried to fob a second hand one onto us, as a new one, when they were unable to repair the original machine. I have never been satisfied with this machine, which has again broken down, and will NEVER purchase another Smeg appliance as long as I live.

Overall great dishwasher – Is overall a great machine (was in house when we purchased home), since owning have only had to call technician once. However, it has just started to not clean the top rack items? Anyone else have this problem? problems with dishwasher -service agent to fix – had this dishwasher for 3 years from new , manual is hard to follow, dishwasher will not pump out water, cannot get service agent to look at the problem. would not consider buying again as no one will service them in albury wodoga area or will come and diagnose or adise of soloution

Useless. Can Live without it – This machine was in the house when we bought it a few months back. It lasted a month and failed during a rinse cycle, no lights on- no-one home. again. A month later still no response. I again contacted Smeg and asked for details of the agent so that I could avoid the fool and received no response from Smeg. It is taking up valuable space and needs either to be fixed or thrown in the tip. To remove it will take some work so if removed one of the 2 options will occur and the space better utilised in the event it is chucked out. Expensive useless facade at the moment. My only satisfaction is in knowing I would never buy a Smeg product of any kind. This POS just happened to be in the house and was used as a selling point.

Very dissatisfied – My smeg dishwasher is four years old and efficient for two years until it started leaking, dishes weren't clean. Paid $147 only to be told needed $450 circuit board. Can't justify these outrageous costs. Will never recommend smeg, so disappointed in this supposedly high end product. I expected a better deal.

Very Disappointed about local service – Fault code does even appear in the book! The unit is out of warranty, I ring up a service centre for advise on what the problem could be. And there response was how much they charge for a call out and they will bill me for every 15 minutes they spend there. All i want to know is what the fault means, I will never be installing a full Smeg kitchen again.

i love my smeg dish washer – I had a problem when pest control moved it . but we rang smeg and a man talked us into reprograming it and its working great I had been unplugging it as we were not aware that switch was on the door of the dish washer as book says its on front panel . Dissapointed – Have brought this dishwasher in July 2013 and 2 years later now it is not cleaning properly.It is just out of warranty too, am so unhappy as I thought I would buy Smeg as it was considered a really good brand. I will know in the future NEVER to buy Smeg again. From day 1 we had to use the longest cycle possible to clean as I found the shorter cycles would not clean properly, now that cycle is not working properly.

FURIOUS - JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND NEEDS $500 OF REPAIRS – I thought SMEG was a reputable brand and was so happy when I purchased this dishwasher from Good Guys 3 years ago. Unfortunately I have no choice but to wear it, as the tenants have a right to have it fixed.

I'm really unhappy - SMEG used to be a top brand and I should expect only minimal issues for the first few years, not something major like this.

I am about to do my kitchen at my own home - I won't be using SMEG appliances

EDIT: I actually had a very good service experience from SMEG after posting this review - the company responded really quickly to my complaint, and I felt very well supported by them. Although I cant recommend the actual product, the service received was excellent.

Expected more for the price – I've had cheaper dishwashers that were better. In fact I've only had one dishwasher that was worse. Cleaning is bearly adequate. Drying is OK. Noise isn't too bad but it's not too good either. The top tray doesn't work well for our glasswear, and the bottom tray regularly tips forward causing dishes to spill out of their places. dispenser tray doesn't always open properly.

It's not quite bad enough to make me buy a new one before it dies. Fortunatley we've just built so I can justify getting something else for the new place.

Very Disapointing – Not sure why I have a dishwasher when I have to thoroughly rinse everything before it goes into the dishwasher. I have had problems with the swing arms splitting and this then reduces the water pressure. I agree that stacking is a problem, the glasses fall over and the knives fall out when you move the shelves in and out. I wouldn't buy a smeg again after this experience.
