Stopped working – I’ve been having problems with this dishwasher on and off for ages, when I turn it on it beeps but then no lights or buttons will work. This has happened intermittently for ages but now just does this every time and we have had to resort to hand washing... Also the appearance it is peeling in places and for an expensive dishwasher looks unsightly.
Dud dishwasher – Within first 12 months we got an error 1 and then error 6. 2 different technician's to get it repaired. 7 mths on the it was on Error 6 and now it is ...stuck on 00:01. You have have to select 3 buttons to start and they can get stuck pushed in. 2hrs 26mins for a full wash cycle on eco - only wash that seems to work The Cutlery trays are not… Read more
wide enough, and doesn't do a great job.
There is no where to put your utensils...except to take up a cutlery tray which then minimizes the cup space
Our dinner plates are not big but they can knock the top arm.
There is usually water in the bottom drain even after it washes.
Too late for us that its discontinued......
The door opening function is good.

Average clean. Overpriced for features. Very noisy – The biggest selling feature on this machine for me was the fact the door automatically opened to release the steam after each wash, as this is the most effective way your dishes dry. After Using it a few times, we realised it only worked on the long auto cycles and not the 51min 70deg wash that we like and cannot be changed. We also had really… Read more
loud knocking noise inside, shortly after purchase. We had a service tech out and he thought it may be the pump. He left and nothing changed. A second tech was called out and this time I had video evidence to show him. He told me he thought it was the green spinning water spindle hitting the bottom as it passed. He swapped the green spindle, it was ok for a while and then started again. The general noise from the water washing in this machine is quite bad as well, I measured a range of 50 - 60 decibels when the machine stops knocking, nowhere near the 42 decibels advertised on the specs.
It also has trouble washing the cutlery on the top tray, leaving them dirty, so we resort to rinsing them now before each wash.
For $1500 we have been really disappointed and wish we just spent the extra $500 on a different machine. We will try getting SMEG to look at this again, but they really need to look at replacing this one.

Nice and Quiet Dishwasher – Cleans the dishes really well, I find it dries the dishes pretty well, it is just the bottom of cups and glasses which have dips in them where water settles that I need to dry off, but that is only to be expected, had to do this too with other dishwashers we have had in the past. The dishwasher is really nice and quiet, this would be one of my… Read more
favorite features along with the fact you can fit big plates and platters into the dishwasher which I haven't been able to with other dishwashers.
We found the instructions to install the dishwasher were a total nightmare to follow, not at all easy to follow.
The annoyance I have is a small one the cutlery tray does not slide in and out with ease, it sticks every time, which is a bit frustrating, the one demonstrated in store didn't do that, other than this we are happy with our dishwasher.
Bad on so many levels – Actually a DWAU214X1 - looks similar. It took a month to work out how to get it to actually wash the dishes. It only works with Finish - we wanted to use the same eco-friendly detergent we've always used. We now get clean dishes but there is still a lot of water hanging around at the end of the cycle. With only two people, in our last dishwasher… Read more
we could wash every second or third day but this holds about half the dishes of the old Ariston and we have to wash daily or twice on weekends...
We haven't yet worked out how to remove the top cutlery tray but need to so we can fit things other than short glasses and cups in there - the Ariston could hold 5 or 6 wine glasses on one side with so much more room for other items.
I can't comprehend how a designer could have come up with something so frustratingly bad.
It is generally quiet, except for a loud, repetitive noise at one stage of the cycle.
Great dishwasher poor quality – Great dishwasher when its working. I bought the entire range of smeg products. Fridge, microwave, oven, cooktop, rangehood and dishwasher. I have had issues with every single product. But the worst of the lot was this dish washer. Its great when it works but that's the issue. It never works. Parts just keep on breaking. But this seems to be a trend through the entire smeg range. Very disappointed. Show details

Doesn't Dry Dishes Properly... Disappointed – I recently purchased a Smeg DWAU214X dishwasher, which seems to be identical to the DWAU315X. I've owned it for a couple of months, and am pretty disappointed. It's relatively quiet, but does not dry dishes well, so all dishes remain dripping with beads of water once the washer is opened. This occurs whether the door is opened immediately… Read more
after the cycle has ended, or 8 hours after cycle is has ended. This occurs regardless of the cycle selected, or the brand of capsules / rinse aid used.
It seems perhaps a poor drying cycle design hinders steam from being sucked out of the unit, resulting in condensation building up around the dishes instead of being removed from the unit during drying.
My last dishwasher (Miele) dried really well, once the door was opened, dishes were ready to be stored away immediately. With the DWAU214X - you have to manually dry them every time. Negating the reason for having a dishwasher.
I'm stuck with it now, but won't purchase a Smeg Dishwasher again.

Faithful helper in the kitchen! – I got mine installed in Aug 2015. I have it as a built -in under the bench. the feature to move the top basket up gives the extra space to put big dinner plates etc on the lower basket. It has no 30 min option, but it cleans the dishes properly. It has the feature to open the the door automatically after washing. This feature will not work if you… Read more
are using the 1/2 time option. I usually run it when i go to work and come back to see all the dishes clean and dry, even the plastics. It has lot of space and the top cutlery tray is a very nice feature. I use the finish tabs and rinse aid for washing. It takes 1hour 20 min for my everyday wash. I only have to run it once a day. I use it without rinsing my dishes. No complaints..
Best in this price range – At $1200, this would be the best dishwasher you can have. It cleans, drys and even pretty economical as well. I wanted to get a miele at $2500 but saving $1500, minus the LCD and the detailed delay timer and auto eject. I can live with it. The dishes are dry but the dishwasher compartment isnt, I guess it wouldnt be a problem, just have… Read more
to keep watch that it doesnt drip onto dried plates. There is also a cutlery tray but there isnt a personal cutlery water spray so, cutlery should have any food particles, they might not be cleaned but this happens in a $2500 miele as well at times. Great space for a family of 2.
The dishwasher is pretty quiet and there is no complains at this price. Happy =)
