Consider another product – Purchased this unit from the good guys. However it was left in its original packaging unopened until early 2018 waiting for the new kitchen to be completed. will not turn off. Turning on the lights disables the whole unit and and the “lights will not turn off” and “the fans won’t turn off either” Not satisfied as not used often enough to warrant such issues.

Joining the queue commenting on this rubbish "high end" product – Unit was installed new and immediately required service to replace control board. Tech remarked installed unit was from a faulty batch. Within 6 months lights again failed and a other board installed. Failed again and has remained without lights ever since. Tried all reset options but all failed to address light issue. Short result sees me dumping the Smeg brand...just not up to the rhetoric and ultra disappointing Show details

Never ever again – Smeg is clearly the worst product out there. I moved in to a house that had all smeg appliances and all either broke or had problems. Rangehood just drips grease back into the food (and yes i clean the filters regularly). water spinners are still attached with the wire i had to fix them with. I would of avoided using the cook top with the leaky Smeg range hood but the Smeg oven control panel had broken. The microwave would be an alternative, but being Smeg it turns off when it feels like it. 1 minute in the microwave turns in to 10. I'm just lucky my BBQ isn't Smeg.

Excellence service – Smeg is very helpful to service my Rangehood for free even passed 2 yrs warranty. Technician come and fixed the problem which was only light but no suction.I will keep buying Smeg Rangehood. I suggested those people who had this issue. Please reset the power by turning off the main power and waiting for 3 mins. Then turn on the power back again. It will solve the problem.  Show details

Terrible!! – This unit purchased in Aug 16 installed Dec 16 in my new kitchen. Have had service tech's out 3 times 4th booked, fan just stops working, lights work intermittently, not happy. Service people said cant be replaced, so what happens after warranty expires in two years? Not happy should have gone with Miele same as oven & dishwasher, no problems with them whatsoever. unsatisfied consumers my choice would be to replace with another brand,as to have a technician come out and replace faulty parts that they are already aware off.

This product is definitely very over rated and expensive.

choice as it is not cheap and stands for high end. It is dead just 2 months after we settled, just like all others reported here. Dead in a sudden, no light not motor. To repair or to replace is not our first concern, as we learn by reading other review it seems to be unrepairable. To replace could be a nightmare as the kitchen architecturally designed for it. Stud and nogging preinstalled during construction and ceiling cut for flue and now what? We can't make sure another model can cover all these "holes" and exactly in position to reuse fitting points - comparing to carpenter, sparky, plaster, painter and plumber labor cost, 1500$ rangehood price is nothing but expendable. We choose price since we believe after spending so much labor cost to put on, it will last for years like Miele. We were wrong! Even the oil filter is rubbish by aluminum not stainless often drop down when to cook. The wiring inside machine is messy without any protection now full of oil. It is a fully expensive crap, fake premium brand. Italian stuff is not reliable, if you want luxury or good, go German made or Qasair by OZ. We are entirely annoyed our new kitchen is just ruined by Smeg. Never Smeg again.

electrician in and he said motor already died and panel may need replacement as well. It's better to buy a new one to paying the hefty costs of Smeg technician and parts. To my surprise, my local brand rangehood lived forever in my previous house.

Why should we buy named brands if they don't even have a life? Lost my trust on Smeg. I'll never ever recommend them. 3.5 yrs, is this the life span of your product?

tell me why their products can't go without some fault in such a short period of time? My Smeg Oven has lost part of the digits so have to put my timer on another device now while cooking! When we bought our 5 Smeg items fitting out our kitchen in our new home, the Smeg products were fitted to suit during my build, we thought we were getting top end products, especially when we paid a huge price tag for them, only to find within such a short time that 2 of them needs either replacing or repairing!!

I am more than annoyed at the minute!!!

Very Happy – We installed the Smeg R/Hood when we re-done our kitchen May 15 and it has worked perfectly and have not had any issues at all. It works good and looks fantastic [lot of people comment about the good looks] We can highly recommend this R/Hood. Our other Smeg products have performed satisfactorily

A good product – I have had this unit for a while now and have been very happy with it. The fan has a choice of 3 speeds and does a good enough job on the lowest setting most of the time. When the fan is on the lowest setting it is very quiet as you swtch up to level 2 and 3 it gets progressively louder but I would not think you would need it on maximum power… Read more

The unit comes with standard halogen globes that are readily available from most hardware stores and are ready to change. They cost about 4 dollars a pop.

The filters on this model are aluminium and so should not be washed with caustic cleaners, as most dishwasher detergent is caustic I find the best way to clean them is to wipe away any visible grime and then put them in to a dishwasher with no detergent but on the pot and pan wash. The heat of the water alone will soften and remove nearly all the grease.

If you plan to install this unit yourself you will need a plug socket in close proximity as the lead is short and designed to be hidden by the flue surround. Also this unit will take two people to install.

The flue can be ducted to the roof space/outside or set up to recirculate the air, in recirculating set up it is recommended that a set of carbon filters be used in conjunction with the supplied filters to eliminate odour.

Overall I have had no problems with my hood and would recommend it.

time it has happened to rangehood because of micro, last time r/hood reset after months of no use. This time tech is telling me $900 for new circuit board because of spike, Smeg micro created problem. Anyone have other options. Smeg micro should be able to do as it says and grill food, otherwise what's the point of having a $1300 micro. Will not be promoting these products to family or friends after second fail. What is going on with Smeg products, don't need a fire because of faulty circuit boards. These products were only installed March 2013.

Fan has no suction and does not speed up – I have had this unit for just over 2 years when we replaced the kitchen with all Smeg products, the oven failed just before warranty ended and now the Rangehood has failed just out of warranty, fingers crossed that the Induction Cooktop keeps going. I am now worried that the whole unit will need to be changed after reading other reviews as the unit is fitted to glass splashback. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

The motor dies – I have had this unit for more than 2 years. It has been working fine until a few weeks ago when the motor started to make a lot of noise and after a few weeks stopped working. I am now needing to completely replace this unit as replacing the fan may be more expensive. Disappointed in the design of this unit as it seems to collect a lot of oil.

Fan stops working after a short time it's on!! – I turn fan on, great for a short time then it stops. The lights are on but nothing happens. Have to turn it off and wait 5 - 10 mins then you can turn it on again, great for a short time then stops. Not happy with SMEG rangehood!!!!

Constant repairs as well on this rangehood – The fourth service call tomorrow on this rangehood. The motor is leaking oil. Westinghouse for 10 years never called a service call. I bought these expensive products and its constant. I bought them from winning appliances in Taren Point. Buyer beware!

Shame SMEG shame – 2 years of constant repairs to this exhaust fan and still it does not work. They blame everything but their product despite us having a perfectly functioning (but ugly and noisy) exhaust fan before. At least it worked!

Smeg K7099X60 – Just to balance things out.. Our hood also packed up much like others above. I emailed SMEG National Service Manager [name removed] who responded within the hour with a practical solution for repair. The repair is planned for next week but for now its a welcome step in the right direction on SMEGS part. Thanks [name removed].

What a joke!!!! - SMEG you are better than this – This rangehood was purchased through our new home builder at a substantial extra cost. We upgraded all of our appliances to SMEG based on past experience with the brand. The rangehood broke down within 2 months. The service agent said there is a known problem with this product range. disappointing buy. Good suction and relatively quite in operation. It has a good look with the flexibility of adjusting not only the suction but the light as well Quality of SMEG seems to have fallen.
