We bought a smeg Sa45vx2 when we got our kitchen installed 5 years ago We don't use the steamer a lot . Maybe 6 times in a year. The display started to break up a year or so back We could see partial display and it was flashing. Now we can see the back light of the display but cannot read anything on the display. Is there a battery inside or do I need a Service call. The unit has seen little use and I'm quite disappointed in it. I thought Smeg was a reliable brang but this particular model is utter crap. Any advise is appreciate.

Dear Roger - there's a massive design flaw with these units. Whilst under guarantee our Smeg steam over went through about 4 new display/control units. We use ours a lot and it appears that the module is not sealed adequately so steam gets into them. Demand a refund is my advice - they'll come and replace the unit but it will go again in no time. These units are not fit for purpose. Ours is almost unusable now - half the pixels don't work so I have to program it from memory. I'll replace it with a Neff one when I've got the money.
The digital panel of steam oven dies not light up anymore. Is there a battery inside and how to change it?

I have a model SA45MX2vr and the display panel is only lighting up five on the cooking functions. The microwave function is there but doesn’t light up when you press the PT2 button but when you move across the functions to the left the microwave function lights up. How can I get it to light up with the other five functions when the PT2 button is initially pressed?
My S45VX2 steam oven has 2 of the time display segments and two of the temp display segments not working. The oven is in a house we purchased 3 years ago it has never been used- I would guess it would be 5 years old.
Is there a reset for the display or does it need to be repaired?
My Steam oven is constantly beeping, we've only ever used it once or twice because its so hard to use, it basically now just fills a space in the kitchen. It is stuck with CAL, some sort of a unlinked square symbol and 1L flashing and the most annoying random beep. It's a SA45VX2vr.01 made in Portugal serial number 31023 0917 1
Try switching it off at the wall, then going through the initial setup from scratch. Smog instructions are appalling - apparently they were translated from Vulcan by a demented 4 year old. Next time I strongly recommend never buying smeg stuff. It’s absolute rubbish. Our steam oven was massively unreliable. I’ll get AEG next time.

Half of the display is not working so can’t read the time. Is there spare parts for this
Smeg can replace this. They last less than a year. It’s disgraceful. Try to get a refund if you can, don’t waste your money trying to repair it. I had 4 new control units under warranty but none of them lasted. When the current one stops I’ll rip out the steam oven and put something else there.
I’m never buying another smeg appliance. The quality is a disgrace.

SmegSA45vx2 steam oven
The display read out on our oven seems to be frozen on "PUMP. and flashes between CAL and FULL". Tried pushing buttons to no avail, just seems to be locked in this position. Can't even turn off in any way. Please any help? Rob
Hi Rob try turning of the power to the oven for ten minutes and then back on if this dose not work please call Smeg service 02 8667 4833 and arrange for a technician to look at it.
