Working well. Spare grease filters are expensive – This Smeg unit replaced a decades-old Omega rangehood. Since we cook a lot, the rangehood gets daily use. The exhaust extraction is powerful, so we have it on minimum setting. We wash the filters every week. As precaution, I ordered spare grease filters, p/n 133.0059.251. The rangehood uses four filters. Local Smeg price is $184 each, but they are available in Europe under a variety of brands - Faber, Franke, Roblin.

I ordered mine from Rhone Depannage Service (RDS) in France. All-up cost to buy, and ship here via a freight forwarder, worked out to $92 each. The European filters feel more sturdy and seem to have better build quality. Dimensions are the same.

Postscript 25-May-2023: After a few months of use, all four original filters became unusable. The retaining tabs broke off, because the metal is too thin. The spare filters from France have thicker metal and are holding up well, so I need to buy more. Currently they are 37 Euros each: https://www.pieces-menager.fr/catalogue/filtres-de-hottes/filtre-metallique-/-filtre-a-graisse/piece-filtre-metallique-133.0059.251-roblin-133.0059.251-1602

So disappointed in build quality – I purchased a full kitchen's worth of new appliances from Smeg. Lots of $$. The rangehood has just been installed now after sitting in its box in the garage for several months. I can't believe how cheap the unit looks. I'm so disappointed. Underneath, the screws are all exposed. They're not even nice screws! The facia panel that runs along the back of the unit only has a screw on either side and because the metal facia panel is so thin, it bows out in the middle. I have to live with it now as the new kitchen is in, but I won't be buying Smeg rangehood again. What a waste of nearly $1000. Interesting that there are no close up pictures online of the underside..now I know why.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $980.

Terrible Brand and Machine – This is very poor functional machine, noisy, sliding out not smoothly. Bought this for only 3 months the filter legs snapped off, replaced this machine in a year time, will never recommended to anyone.

Purchased in at Whitfords for $750.

Doesn't do anything useful. Avoid – I have this rangehood as part of the kitchen outfit for a new apartment. It is beyond useless, it can't suction water vapors or oil vapors (ours is ducted). I've had my fire alarm triggered twice cooking bacon because the oil would accumulate in the kitchen and triggered the fire alarm. It's a shame as the whole kitchen was fitted with Smeg and this is the only one disappointing unit out of the whole lot.

Noisy and suction is poor – Thought to upgrade at the builder’s color apppointment and paid extra but this rangehood is very noisy and the suction is next to nil until on full speed where the noise increases too much. There is also this vibrating noise which is really annoying. Won’t go with this brand again

Thanks Steve. I have raised this issue with Burbank who’s the builder of our house yesterday during 3 monthly maintenance inspection. Would you like me to wait for them to come back with a solution or would you still want me to forward you details? I just don’t want to confuse anyone. Please let me know.
