Sony big fail – Initially TV worked great. Features worked as they should and good picture quality. The problem started when 2 years in the TV decided to stop working. Turns out it was the motherboard. My concern with the TV was the total lack of communication and that Sony didn’t stand my their product. Needless to say Sony wouldn’t cover the repairs under warranty. Be warned Show details

great cinema feel – love the tv but the remote has no back and forth between the previous channel, it’s very annoying when you switch to another channel which is not right next up or down. Other the colours are great specially the blacks when you watch movies which mainly plays in dark scenes. Sound is better to be connected to a surround system as voice is crappy most times. Would buy a sony tv again even so they are on the high price tag side.  Show details

Fantastic TV – Picture quality is fantastic. Sound quality is also great. We initial hooked it up to a Bose Speaker but found we did not need that except if we want a big surround sound. Sound quality was perfect as is. It has easy navigation unlike the Samsung which used a key board type navigation. Sony is very easy to navigate  Show details

Good enough – Happy with my 4K Sony Bravia. It has all the features you need in a smart TV. Screen resolution is immaculate. A bit hard to get used to if you're used to LG TVs like me. I love how the remote control has a Netflix button Android compatible which is good if you have a Samsung.  Show details

Viewtiful – We have owned Sony TVs for decades and this product continues to provide superb viewing pleasure. The picture quality is clear and smooth, whilst the speakers provide amazing sounds. There's enough ports to let me plug in my PS4, external speakers and modem, allowing me to use this smart tv to the fullest. The Bravia is a quality product that I enjoy using every day.  Show details

Tick Tock Now That's a Clock – Lets see if l have the correct model? Ours is FHD not UHD, 3D verson, installed by Leigh a great tech bloke. We've known for around ten years it works flawlessly 3 years on no hicups, very happy, would get a UHD if money was no limit. Very happy with it, initally speaking to Janet, then Ethan, then Tyson, then a fourth bloke whom gave a… Read more

Could be a lot better – The menu system is a little confusing at first, and very slow to respond to the remote control. Often the TV does not pick up remote selections. Now and then Netflix will not load because it needs you to clear the cache, which is in an obscure place. The audio is good compared to what I was expecting, the audio difference between Netflix and TV is… Read more

huge, you have to bump Netflix up to 50 and then TV back down to 20. Can't record one show & watch another, very disappointed with this. Quality of picture is awesome.

BEAUTIFUL PICTURE NOW. AVERAGE SOUND QUALITY – When we first purchased this TV discounted from Sony the remote was slow to operate and the TV would constantly reboot itself. Now after three software upgrades the TV works like a TV, with the added bonus of a beautiful picture and good Android system for streaming. The built in speakers are appalling, what were you doing Sony? I had to plug in… Read more

external high quality computer speakers via the headphone jack, and all good. I can also listen off the home theatre amp. There are enough ports on the TV and it is power efficient and runs cool. Generally very satisfied now with this set up.

Great TV Does everything I need – Being old school I use the TV as, you guessed it, as a TV. I have the internet and a Sony Blu ray player, Sony DVD recorder and a BeyonWiz HDD attached to the TV and everything works great. I am not that interested in that Android or Apple stuff as I only wanted a relatively inexpensive quality TV and to date I am more than happy with the TV.… Read more

This is the 7th Sony digital TV I have bought for my family, all still working, and would never buy another brand. This purchase was a replacement for a 15 year old 32' Sony CRT that I felt was too small. The old Sony went to a new home as a gamer TV.

A below average entry level 4K TV from Sony – Below average TV from Sony. Entry level 4K TV, missing a lot of features the X85 series and up has and the difference in price isn't that big to the next model so better off paying that bit more in my opinion. The TV picture is good during the day but it's when at night or in dark rooms when the issues begin. The TV can't handle dark… Read more

images in dark rooms, the screen lightens up then darkens when moving from light and dark scenes, it almost looks like someone is flashing a torch around inside it. This isn't a one off issue, the TV is missing the dynamic contrast enhancer so the blacks are grey and that bleeds into other colours in dark rooms, the black uniformity is terrible!

It's quite disappointing to see Sony stoop to these standards, my old HX820 runs rings around this model, you'd think quality would improve 4 years later.

Now remember this is an Android TV so you gotta have a Google account to fully use its features so I suggest you have one setup instead of creating one while setting up the TV as those that are familiar with Android would know there's a lot of things you should disable via your account settings before you add it onto another device and that's easily done via a Tablet or PC.

Also go through the apps that are preinstalled and disable those you won't ever use, they just start up from the start and use up the TV's resources and slow other things down.

The setup and design is good, just poor quality from Sony even for an entry level 4K TV.

I suggest anything from the X85 and up, don't waste your money on anything below of you care about picture quality!

Wait until it stabilises – Have a million reasons to love Sony, but I do not recommend anyone to buy this 4K TV yet. Picture quality is very impressive and beautiful, but there still are bugs in the software which need to be fixed by further software updates. Most serious issue is: once a while (every 2 weeks or so) TV stops receiving signals from remote control or huge… Read more

time delay in changing channel / input source etc (15-20 seconds or more) . Have to go through an initial set up to get rid of the problem, meaning you have to go through your personal setting from the scratch...

Also, no external HDD recording can be done at this stage (should be available in the future by an software update though) or screen mirroring for apple devices (iPhone, iPad).

Minor issue, but one of remotes (touch pad) stopped working in 3 months time. It will be replaced with new one under warranty.

I personally think Sony shouldn't have sold this TV yet. It is not a completed product.. So, I recommend people to wait for further updates before purchase. Updates may stabilise the TV.

Excellent picture quality, some annoying issues – The good news for this TV is that it delivers really good picture quality from high resolution sources (HD and above). This TV handles extreme scenes very well - meaning pitch black alongside bright white with difficult colours in between. I like that it will save different picture settings (brightness, colour, contrast etc) for different input… Read more

sources - even Youtube versus Netflix, for example. The TV shines best with a 4k input source but we all know there isn't much of that around. So it is important to up-scale a high-quality 1080p source well. I have trialed the TV with varying 1080p inputs, ranging from Baraka - a film purely about the image, to Longmire and Daredevil via Netflix, among many others. On the whole, the TV upscales very well, and leaves you thinking you are watching in native resolution.

On Daredevil in particular, a show with fairly extreme post-production sharpening (edge contrast), the image looks like you are watching 4k in some scenes, the upscaling is that good. Downsides to the picture quality? I'm not sure this TV will be bright enough to cope with a sun-drenched lounge room. Even if it can output at the required brightness level, the edge LED lighting of the screen is very likely to show up strongly. In my dimly lit lounge room the edge lighting can be seen if you look for it, particularly in the bottom right corner on my sample. And the rest of the TV? Not as good as the picture quality: - The infra-red remote is cluttered. It's too easy to hit the 'Home' button when you want to scroll down, for example. - The remote also must be pointed precisely at the IR sensor on the TV to work. On my Apple TV unit or Bose sound system, I can point the remote anywhere without issue, ever.

Why can't Sony, with 30+ years of experience, get a simple remote to work like it should? - Sony give you two remote controls... Why? And worse, the second remote, which uses bluetooth, MUST be connected as part of the initial setup. That is just lunacy. What if I loose the remote and need to set the TV up again (eg after moving house)? - The second remote feels like a failed science experiment. The one useful button it has is the speech-to-text button. This button works really well, using Google's algorithms to guess what you are saying, stunningly well. Searching for an obscure video on youtube? Just say they name and it will pop straight up. Impressive. - Other flaws? The TV is slow to start up, and the Wi-Fi network is strangely sensitive. I often get 'network not found, go to setup?' messages. Never an issue on the Apple TV, which is sitting on the same table. The upshot to all of this? Really good picture quality. But Sony clearly has much to learn, even after decades of producing televisions.
