Disappointed with durability and quality of Sony TV – I have always seen in Sony as a reputable brand with high quality products. I saved up for this TV for our living room for something nice finally. In the early days it was working fine although it seemed a little bit underpowered with the smart apps. Sometimes there is stuttering with playing files from our local NAS. Problem came later when a… Read more
firmware update disabled sound output 2 hour Sony surround sound speaker system. After lots of troubleshooting a technician had to come out and replace the main board and told us not to do automatic firmware updates. And then after a year the Wi-Fi gave out. It couldn't connect to our local nor 2 streaming services. Sony said it was our problem because warranty expires after one year. We invoked the ACL and finally they conceded it was a problem and sent another technician out. The technician could not connect the TV even to his own hotspot. Yes he couldn't do anything and said that I had to use the network cable. Of course the network cable is already being used by another device that is more important than the TV. Sony basically said that was it and they would not fix the Wi-Fi.
Purchase of a New TV – I have recently bought this beautiful TV, so slick and high quality image with everything I watch. excellent connectivity to my apps and other devices.

X90K 85 inch has serious color uniformity issue and Sony doesn't care at all – The TV is ok for videos, but if I use it to display a pure color image, like screen test "https://www.eizo.be/monitor-test/", I saw huge shadow in the center of the screen. Took photos, talked to sony L1/L2/L3 support, they only care the basic testing: can the TV be powered up? can you hear sound? if yes, then the TV is "working within standard… Read more
specification". I have another 65 inch X95J, it works well in the same scenario, I read the ratings before placed the order, I am ok with minor color uniformity issue at the corners, but huge shadow in the middle? Not expected. The support team is totally useless, they keep repeating the same words: 1. it is your pc's problem, 2. I removed the pc and use the built-in browser, then the tv is "working within standard specification". the color uniformity is not on the spec list, so it is not a problem at all.
As good as an OLED without the risk of burn-in – Paid about the same price for a 65X90K as a 55A80J so reviewing the X90K here in comparison to it and an older 65X85G. Picture quality is excellent, bright, clear, colours are good, light zones plentiful and pretty accurate, even thought the TV was off on a few occasions when the screen was just black. Haven’t noticed any backlight shining… Read more
through as compared to the 65X85G I had before.
Google TV interface responds well, haven’t noticed much in terms of lag.
Audio is ok for in-built speakers, quite clear but a lot of midrange, lacking a bit of clarity, played around with the sound settings without much success. Lacks bass as expected. Just add a worthy soundbar or audio system, this TV deserves it.
Comes with the smaller RMF-TX800 remote, works well, I upgraded it to a TX900, fully compatible nicer backlit experience.
It did switch off by itself a few times when I first got it but that seems to have gone away some time ago with one of the system updates.
Has locked up a few (very few) times, requiring a power cycle from the wall socket, that seems to have developed some time during one of the updates, just happened again a few days ago but it’s rare and has only happened three times in 5 months. Not a big deal to me but noteworthy, could be a software issue that might be fixed in a later update or could just be my unit.
Adjustable stand height which is great to accommodate a sound bar below it. The stands are toward the edge of the TV again that helps to accommodate a sound bar but you might need a wider surface to sit it.
Haven’t hooked up a console to it so can’t comment on how well it handles that.
Purchased off Sony Australia eBay store, delivery took about a week. It’s a great TV for the price, recommended!
SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED – A nice looking TV but we keep losing all the channel 10’s. 10, 11, 12, etc. Continually retuning it. Probably 4-5 times a week. Sony called once to fix it but I think that was just a retune too. It’s frustrating. And I agree with one other review-why doesn’t it have a flat head plug. Otherwise my only real criticism is changing channels. Why go… Read more
through all the 2’s, all the 3’s, all the 7’s etc instead of 2,3,7,etc. But if we keep losing the channel 10’s we may have to look at another brand.
Great TV, but really Sony, in 2022, no flat power plug for wall mount? – This is now my 5th Sony TV, and over I love it with the Google System and overall quality. But the biggest gripe which is just nonsensical when a large majority of people these days wall mount their TV, they don't include a flat wall plug! There was absolutely no way it was going to work on a basic wall mount. I took off a 7 year old LG off the… Read more
wall to put this new one up, and even the LG 7 years ago had a flat plug and was easier to install. To install the Sony, I had to put a powerboard behind the TV resting on the back top area to it could all fit!
