Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W370

Not much for $ 250.00 – When I first got the camera I was pleased but as I kept using it things kept cropping up that I did not like. At times the camera surprised me with such clarity and colour of the photos and at other times the colours were not real nor the clarity and it was disappointing. As it has no viewfinder one has to resort looking like an idiot trying to see the screen in bright sunlight.
In the movie mode, the system is trying to constantly search for a field of view and goes out of focus all the time -
my movies look very amateurish and just are no good. If you want to take a movie and not ever move the camera or have a movie of nothing that moves then you will have a movie. The sound is reasonable but any wind is picked up and magnified to a noise such that the movies are best shown in silent.
The sweep panorama is just a waste of time and very difficult to get a panorama at all. By the time one has fiddled with the camera trying to get a panorama the frustration takes over and one resort to taking singles.
I have found with more use that the camera does not open at the selection on the dial but where it choses. For instance, if I am in easy mode, the camera can open in movie mode and when I am taking a photo in easy mode (when I can get it) the movie comes one and the shot is wasted. The camera has developed a mind of its own and not necessarily what my mind wants.
There is no close up mode only the zoom and then this requires a tripod.
The battery compartment has a very flimsy slide lock which does not lock well and pops open at the wrong times.
This camera has really disappointed me in so many ways that I have now moved onto another brand and will stay away from Sony when it comes to cameras. It has taken some amazing photos but then reverts to being "dumb"again and infuriates me.
This camera is not user friendly or easy to use. It can take some very good shots but this seems to be hit and miss. The battery life is average but not remarkable. This camera is not a point and shoot but one constantly has to watch what the camera is doing. The flimsy battery door is ridiculous. The camera is too complicated for its own good and is an attempt to be a technical wonder.
