Headband cracked – I was generally pretty happy with these headphones. Only negatives were was that they clamped down harder than my Bose QC25's & my ears would get quite warm after prolonged use. I've just noticed that the headband has cracked in two places above both earpieces. After some Googling it seems this is a common issue with this particular model… Read more

which Sony has rectified with subsequent models.

I haven't contacted Sony as I'm not very hopeful they will replace them.

I spent $500 on these. Won't be buying another Sony product.

Almost perfect set of wireless NC headphones – This and the Bose QC35 are in my opinion easily the best in class NC, bluetooth headphones going around. I actually purchased both (I also left a review for the Qc35's) after extensive reviews and testing in store. I would class the sound signature on this set as accurate but 'fun' to listen to. There is definitely a slight bass boost on the… Read more

low end frequencies as most sony's do however it does not hamper the clarity or soundstage. It's very versatile sounding so whatever genre you happen to like it can pretty much do it all.

The noise cancellation on this set is great, but not as good as the Bose. A handy feature is that the right earcup is touch enabled so simple gestures like covering the outside of the right earcup will stop the noise cancellation if someone was to start a conversation with you. Little things like this does not sound like much but its not something you miss until you go to a set without.

These are very comfy and can be easily warn all day even in hot weather. Battery lasts as the box claims. I wouldn't say im a heavy user but I've never had the need to charge it mid day and i've taken this traveling also.

For anyone choosing between the Bose 35 and this. I'd generally say get this set of Sony's unless you absolutely require the superior NC of the Bose. While Bose sounds great, I find the sound signature to be too 'coloured' and artificially boosted.

Perfect sound, not good for conference calls – I have bought these to enjoy music on the go, and to use in the open office as my only headphones. The music sound quality is awesome and beats competition easily (Bose's) - with HSEE HX and LDAC, AptX Bluetooth codec support nothing can touch those when used with a SONY or an LG phone. The sound is very mellow and clean, with presence and… Read more

detalisation. Even low-res music sounds better thanks to upscaling engine that only SONY products have (HSEE HX). If you have some high-resolution files you can stream them over LDAC or AptX with pristine clarity that will surprise those who still stick to bundled crappy headphones and are just "unaware" what real hifi sound means.

Sound proofing is good for most except the voices talking around you in the office - those still come thru even though muffled.

What is really disappointing however is that the microphones pick up every voice around when you're using them as your conferencing headset. Everybody on the other lines complained about me sending "lots of unrelated noise" into the conference, even though I myself could not hear this. Apparently noise cancelling works only locally - everything is sent into the line though. This proved problematic as I have to put myself on mute all the time I am not speaking. Either this or everyone is quiet around me.

I have resorted to using my other wired headset for conference calls.

Verdict - perfect for music, unsatisfactory for conf calls in the office.

Make your choice wisely.

things:

Nice-looking appearance, better than QC35 that put two logo on both side.

Good quality about music.

Touch function is very easy to use, very convenient.

Other bad things:

You CAN'T change quickly bluetooth device, you must disconnect headphone or close bluetooth on your device, then connect other device.

excellent for music and against noise – I have been looking to get a good-sounding pair of closed-back wireless headphones. Walked into SONY store and saw them there. If you are an Apple user these have a fatal flaw that make them a poor choice – I admit it, I love great quality audio & I own a well-loved pair of Bose QC35’s which are my daily commute. However, they are over a year old, showing the first signs of wear & tear, so when I saw a pair of the Sony 1000X headphones on sale I took the plunge. I’ve been reading reviews about them for months & repeated comparisons about how they… Read more

compared to my QC35’s and the general view was “line ball call, Sony maybe has better sound”… so I took the plunge.

They arrived & indeed look amazing, feel very comfortable, sound fantastic and the battery seems excellent on them however they have one VERY annoying fault if you’re an Apple user that not a single review has picked up on so far, let me explain.

I use both an ipad & an iphone on my commute. The iphone is for calls & audio, where the ipad is for video. My QC35’s allow me to pair both devices & switches between to two flawlessly, simply pause the iphone & play the ipad, no issues at all. The Sony’s however can only do this if you’re an ANDROID user, their software doesn’t allow you to do this on Apple devices. To switch from one Bluetooth device you need to go into the Bluetooth settings, ‘forget’ the device you are using, goto your next device ‘connect’ it to the Bluetooth and commence listening. Once you have done this 20 times when this is a flawless process on your other pair you soon lose interest. This is called “Multi Point” according to Sony, they say their headphones are capable but neglect to mention this is only for Android users…

So, here is my advice. Choosing between these two great audio products should be defined by your choice of platform. If you are an android user you have free to choose however if you’re an Apple user & use your headphones with more than one device, then you should avoid the Sony’s (until they fix this issue).

Comfortable And Enjoyable – I love slipping these on and entering my own music world. Its noisy all the time where I live so these are a necessity. They really do a great job of blocking out background noise without costing anything noticeable with the music reproduction. Awesome – Can't ask for more ... I'm not a music listener so my Review will focus on the vocal part of the headphone as I'm listening to audiobooks and podcasts. This pair of headphones is quite expensive but worth every penny. true isolation from the outside world. if u can call something a "noise cancelling" headphone, so that thing is the best… Read more

definition for that. clarity of sound is outstanding and the comfortable big cushioned headphones give u a sense of quality before the real sense of comfort. Sometimes I only wear them for noise cancellation without listening to anything when I'm studying to avoid the noise of my kids. u can feel the noise being decreased to a minimum when u only wear them even before activating the noise cancellation option. Battery life is also amazing.

Great Headphones – Purchased these headphones to break away from the Bose brand as I have had many of these noise cancelling headphones in the past and although great in their own right it was time for a change. I purchased the Sony after reading the reviews and they havent let me down. The headphones offer great noise cancelling when flying and are clean and crisp.… Read more

The only problems is the standard volume when you plug it into a device which doesnt have its audio control, they need to work on this point. The headphones fold away nicely into their cover and are easily transportable and well constructed. The bluetooth connection works a treat except for the level of volume as already commented, this could a deal breaker for some people. I always use them plugged in due to the poor volume level. Battery has a great life and I have had no problems here although takes ages to charge, a quick charge function would be a great addition.

Great sound quality – Just some pros and cons: +: 1. Great sound quality, much much better than bose counterparts. (If you turn off the noise canceling on bose, the sound quality is atrocious). 2. Battery officially lasts up to 40 hours and it is endurable. 3. Noise canceling is good for reducing conversations and airplane noise. 4. It comes with cables, so you… Read more

can use it like a plug-in headphone. Also, it comes with an airline adapter so you don't need to buy an extra.

-:

1. The control can be quirky sometimes. Basically, you need to swipe right for next song and tap twice for pause/resume. But these can get messed up. It often happens to me that the music stops completely instead of heading to next song and I have to figure out myself what had happened.

2. The noise canceling is not stable if you are on a bus. The wobble can affect noise canceling and produce weird sounds.

I like this headphone, it does the NC really well. Not 100% comfortable for long period of usage – Pros: 1. Noise Cancelling works really well especially on the plane 2. Battery last very long time 3. Bluetooth distance works pretty far 4. Bass is tight and pumpy 5. Passive operation also has very good sound Cons: 1. Expensive piece of kit 2. Not comfortable for long period of usage  Show details

One of the Best NC Headphones! – I was recommended the Sony MDR-1000X by my cousin. Was extremely happy with the level of noise canceling the headphones offered. This has become my travel companion on every single flight I've taken ever since. Sound quality also much better than the Bose QC35. Never had any problems with the product even though there have been reports online of the plastic cracking after minimal use. Very pleased overall.  Show details

Good with some issues – These headphones sound great, they have great noise cancelling and the battery lasts many hours. I can confirm though that the band does have issues as mine snapped in two places, was replaced but is now too tight for my ears. Best in class – Absolutely destroys every other noise-cancelling headset except maybe the Bose QC56. I think the Bose beat the Sonys in general build quality but the noise cancelling, features and sound quality all outclass the Bose. What is great is that the Sonys do not need to be charged to use them with a 3.5mm cable while the Bose do.  Show details

Great quality noise canceling headphones – These are by far one of the best active noise canceling headphones in the market so far in the $300 aud price range. Good but not perfect – Firstly I would state the pros of it: It's sort of good looking, compared to the BOSE QC35. Once you fly with ANC, you won't fly without it again! – Was always tossing up between these and the Bose QC35s. Great to block noise – I am looking for headphone and compare different brands and models. This is the one I tried in the store and the quality of the sound and noise cancelling function is better than the other.
