  NEX-5K

Great camera – Great camera, takes excellent pics. The menus a little hard to navigate at times and a bigger zone lens would be handy but all up Im very happy with my Nex5.

  Selected Review NEX-5

Quality of a SLR packed in the size of a Digital Camera – I bought this camera as a replacement for our 2 years old Canon 12MP digital Camera to enhance our experience with the pictures we take of our toddler doing new things everyday. We were looking for better picture quality but at the same time something easy to operate. We Chose this model which comes with an E-mount lens for high power zoom shooting. The thing that's immediately apparent about NEX-5 camera is how small it is. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. This Camera fulfilled my passion for better photography and my spouse's requirement of an easy to use interface.

This is a compact camera, but feel good in the hand, and we can fit any number of Sony E-mount lenses (and A-mount, with an adapter) to the front of the camera.

Another innovative feature of NEX-5 is the tilting high resolution 3-inch LCD screen at the back of the camera. It definitely helps to take some shots without all the hard work.

At the top of the Camera we have an accessory port that can take a flash (this is included in the box).

The additional video recording button makes it really easy to shoot videos. It does help to get to recording asap when required.

The NEX-5 produces pretty impressive images for a camera of its class.

Any Images taken at high ISO sensitivities ( without flash) are crisp and clean.

The intelligent auto mode, is slightly conservative in its exposures and prefers high ISO levels over opening up the aperture.

Another great feature that I like in it is the 3D panorama function.

The camera takes a slice of each frame in panorama mode, from the left and right side, to create the 3D image.Resulting pictures, when played back on a 3D TV using an HDMI cable are very reasonable.

The Sony NEX-5 accept both Memory Stick Pro Duo/Pro-HG Duo/Pro-HG HX Duo and SD, SDHC,and SDXC media.I am using a Lexar 32GB class 6 card and don't see any problems at all.

Conclusion...

This NEX cameras appeals more to photographers used to the look and feel of compact cameras rather than SLR users wanting a smaller camera body. This doesn't mean the NEX-5 isn't suited to those users that fall into the other group. In the interchangeable lens category of Cameras its very respectable, and it's certainly the most stylish so far. Its overall image quality(in various condiitons) is also impressive.

At the price of $1649 I would expect Sony to include uv filter/memory card and an HDMI cable in the Box.
