Soundcore Liberty 4

PLEASE NOTE - MY REVIEW IS ON THE SOUNDCORE LIBERTY 4 PRO The Liberty 4 Pro is a vast improvement over the Liberty 3 Pro for me. Again, the product is value for money, with a lot of technology packed into a reasonable price. The improvement for me on this set is that its ANC is on par with the JBL Tour Pro 3s, and call quality is impressive. … Read more · 1
I've used the ANC to help drown out really loud noises (hurting my ears). The ambient noise function with ANC is very handy for sleep and rest, when required. I've had issues with other earbuds where, the other party on the line would have issues hearing me and understanding what I'm saying, noting this could be because of the way I speak, however had had no such issues with the Liberty 4s, even in noisy environments, such as a noisy street with a lot of traffic, and even loud motorcycles nearby. The technology is able to drown out the sounds and pick out my voice without distorting the conversation (which is what the JBLs seemed to be doing making my conversations sound clipped when I'm speaking). Suffice to say this has been very important as I mostly use this device for work. This has been even more impressive than the Jabra 10s I used to have. So far, the best earbuds for calls for me. It is very comfortable, and battery life seems to be less than the JBLs, but that could be because I don't notice that I'm wearing them. Connectivity was initially very good, however have encountered some bugs (2 months in) where it sometimes tries to connect but the sound doesn't come through, or the case doesn't connect to the app (although this could be my phone, easily fixed by restarting the phone). The app is very useful, which also relates to connectivity, as it allows me to control the multiple devices connected to the earbuds. As I'm only able to connect 2 devices at the same time, the app is very handy to use to connect and disconnect to other devices without missing a beat. (Please note: the JBLS were better there, as you could do that on the screen on the case, which was handy - not having to go to the app to change devices. The Liberty 4 case allows changes to the ANC setting, with some additional features such as using it to access the camera on the phone). Carry it everywhere I go at this time, and has become essential to everyday life.
Amazing noise cancelling. Easy to use. Great sound. Lots of options for EQ. Lots of different earbuds. Highly highly recommend - especially for the price point. Excellent. Show details · 1
I bought the Soundcore Liberty NC on sale to use at the gym. I haven't been to the gym but have been using these daily on my commute since I forgot public transport was so loud and noisy. Like others I do find they become loose easily and they have fallen out on several occasions. As a suggestion if the earbud material that goes into your ear was… Read more
more like the Sennheiser product it would be much better. I have gotten used to the fit and find them very comfortable. I use them throughout the day, with or without music and for answering the phone. No issues with phone quality. The ability to set your own soundscape or modify it to different genres of music is great, as is the ability to set what the controls do. I usually have the noise cancellation function on it's not great but makes a big enough of a difference that with music playing or a podcast you don't deal with all the random noise interruptions. So far after a month very happy, hoping they last more than a year.
Revised review - Great sound quality let down by poor build quality – So I had previously written a review on the Liberty 4's giving them four stars, mainly because of the great sound quality, squeeze controls, case and multi-point connectivity, as well as the app being pretty good. However, I need to revise it as I've had some pretty big issues since I posted that review that people need to know about. Apologies… Read more
for the length, but I think this is important for anyone buying cheap Liberty 4s or future Soundcore products. Less than a year after purchasing, all of a sudden, the case just stopped charging the earbuds. The case was getting charge but the earbuds were not. I tried cleaning all the contact points and doing factory resets but nothing worked. Eventually, I reached out to Soundcore and they gave me a replacement unit free of charge. Interestingly, they didn't ask for the defective unit back to be able to run diagnostics to try and improve their product. I didn't think much of it at the time. Another 12-ish months passed and then the same thing happened to my replacement unit. Again, I reached out to Soundcore and they again offered to replace the unit free of charge. This time, however, I wanted some sort of compensation for having been sold a defective unit, offering to send back my non-functional units so they could try and improve their product. But again, they said I could keep the non-functioning ones. When I said I didn't want a replacement unit, they offered me a 30% refund, which I received. On that front, I can't fault Soundcore's customer service - it was fast, clear, professional and put the customer first. Having one faulty unit - I can put that down to just bad luck. Having two faulty units - This is indicative of a more systemic problem. Perhaps it's just a bad batch (I'm not 100% sure) but it could also indicate a design or production issue. My main gripe here is that Soundcore did not want the defective units back. Why? If I was a product manufacturer, I'd be keen to get it back and ask a few basic questions of the customer of how they used their product. That way, I can diagnose the problem and improve future products so it doesn't happen again. It seems pretty clear that they're not interested in doing that, locking people into endlessly upgrading ever 12-24 months when their previous product fails. $200+ AUD earbuds aren't cheap and having units just being thrown away adds to the growing e-waste problem we have globally. I mentioned this when contacting Soundcoure (I didn't want a replacement unit, I wanted a refund for a defective unit) as I didn't want to contribute to further e-waste as I had now lost faith in the product and wanted to discontinue using it. But it seems clear that they're not interested in that either, which is worrying. I'm not accusing Soundcore of anything sinister here, but I think their business practice could be better. Care more about e-waste, show interest in ensuring future products are properly designed for longevity, these are pretty fundamental for a tech product company.
They are GREAT – Easy to use, good sound - I am very happy with them. Show reply
These when on sale are the absolute best bang-for-buck headphones out there! – These sound amazing, definitely on par with much more expensive brands! Show reply
They're pretty good! – These were a fantastic purchase during the black friday sales. I love everything about the earphones except for 1 small but very annoying thing. They keep falling out of my ears! I heard others resolved the issue by replacing the buds with memory foam ones purchased elsewhere. Haven't tried it yet myself. The pros: you can get VERY far from your phone and still be connected, the sound isolation tech for phone calls is pretty good! Show details · 1
I cannot belive how good they are – Apple Airpods will have to look out these are a very close second and getting closer Show details · 1
Perfect with price with sound and ANC – But little small bass, mid and high so good compare with LG Tone FN-6 Show details · 1
Crap fit, average sound, conflicting and useless aftersales support – Such poor products and services deserve a mention. 1. Poorly designed product which slips out of ear whilst walking. 2. Customer service sluggish. With basic troubleshooting steps 3. Initially stated will reimburse return shipping costs as was within 30day, later stating this eill not occur after having sent the item. Great Earbuds – You can't go wrong with Soundcore earbuds. These are great. Best fitting earbuds ever, and I have a fair few. Stay snug in the ear. The sound quality is very good. they get very loud. The app is very good. You can tinker with the equaliser to get the earbuds sounding just the way you like. ANC is one of the best, especially when out walking. I… Read more · 1
haven't used them for calls, but Soundcore earbuds are usually great for calls. Connectivity is great. The supplied ear tips are the best I've had. The case and the magnet are fantastic. Can't think of a negative. Sometimes Soundcore earbuds can be a problem when putting back in the case and not disconnecting from device. Not here, they are perfect and full charge again, no worries. Not like the Liberty 3 pro, that can be annoying with them. Love these.

Love the sound and the battery life – I love the sound quality. And i can't complain the the battery life Show reply
Sydney Australia – We'll made and functions but in ear fitting not ergonomically refined Show reply
Almost perfect – Sound quality is great, app intergration is great.. the reason I cant give it 5 stars is based on the fact that I can't get a good fit to stay in position, they often work themselves loose. Also its great they offer LDAC but the real world difference is minor and when in use the battery life is affected...a LOT and i've noticed the connection is less stable. So i've adapted to using LDAC When stationary.. and turn it off when i'm active. Show reply
Good sound; Active Noise Cancelling doesn't do much. Multipoint doesn't work with LDAC codec – I've been waiting to buy Soundcore earbuds for a few years. I have multiple pairs of earbuds with the in-ear style, which hurt my ears after a while, due to their size, so I wanted to try smaller stick style buds. With the Liberty 4, out of box the sound is far too bright. I did the fit test & the Hear ID test, and then also chose the treble… Read more
reducer EQ. After that the sound was pretty good. The dual driver setup is very good to separate the bass from the mids and highs. I just had to turn down the high end, which was far too bright & even hurt my ears. Things like female voices and sibilance were disturbing. As for the noise cancelling, It really doesn't work well at all. I have a leaf blower outside at the moment & all that happens is it's reduced a little bit. My Jabra 85T have much better noise cancelling (as would Sony, Bose, etc.)
I'm a bit annoyed at Soundcore released a cheaper L4 NC version, that has better ANC, but I wanted the smaller ones, which are the L4. I hope there is a firmware upgrade that fixes the crappy ANC on the L4.
Thumbs up: - App and controls - Sound quality AFTER Fit test, Hear ID, & treble reducer EQ applied. - Mic quality for calls Thumbs down: - ANC barely works, and there is a big delay before it kicks in. - Multipoint only works when LDAC is off. But I bought these specifically for LDAC! - In LDAC mode, the buds won't auto connect to my Android phone, if they were previously connected to my computer. I have to manually connect via my phone (and vice versa for the computer) - Occasional connection dropouts (doesn't happen on Jabra 85T or Jabra Elite 4) - Wind noise reduction mode doesn't do much. I was hoping it would improve listening to music while cycling or walking by the beach. - Should come with foam tips for comfort & isolation (most of us don't need the heart rate monitoring; I have a Galaxy Watch 5 for that).

Good earbuds – Battery life is really good and sound quality is to my ears (I have deafness) is very good. Easy listening. Like the design of the case and how the earbuds snap into place magnetically. Good design. Show reply
Good product – Good sound and features for the money you pay. Just the noise cancellation is good for noises but not for voices. Hope they can fix with an update Show reply
Love the sound quality – I love them, especially the squeeze feature. Sound quality is solid. Noise cancelling is amazing as well. Only thing I dislike is they don't fit perfectly in my ears. I must be an inbetween bud size because I cant get them to fit perfectly. They seem to unseal at times. Show reply
Perfect – My new main headphones, the price so good for what your getting, blackpods pro Show reply
Great quality sound with a few annoyances – Firstly, and most importantly, the Liberty 4's sound great. Good base, great mid-range, bright airy trebles, wide and deep soundstage and great clarity. So a big tick there for Soundcore. I also like the squeeze controls, case and multi-point connectivity, love the design and the app, and the HearID EQ is pretty good. A few points of… Read more · 1
improvement/problems I encountered: - Controls: would be great if you could do a squeeze/double squeeze and hold option to customise the controls further. - Fit: whilst these are definitely better and more comfortable than my Jabra Elite 85t's they're replacing, they don't feel as secure as I was hoping and I'm struggling to get the fit right. Need to play around with the tips more but I'm a little disappointed here. - I'm getting some weird drop outs: not sure if it is an interference issue or due to the unit I have but I'm finding issues with connectivity to both my phone (when streaming Spotify) and to my laptop (when on work calls). - ANC: definitely not as good as the Jabra's. It's not bad, but I was expecting a little better at the price. - Battery life: the earbuds themselves are fine but I find the case is draining quite quickly and I'm unsure as to why. - Connection: A small one, but I find the headphones connect to my phone and/or laptop when I open the case, not when I put them in my ears (unlike the Jabra's). Given these have in-ear detection, it would be good if this was the functionality instead or we had an option.
Overall a very good product and with some minor tweaks and firmware updates, could be amazing.

Great... but with shortcomings – The Soundcore Liberty 4 earphones do a lot of things very well and will hopefully improve with firmware updates. What they do well: Multipoint Bluetooth connection is great. I can switch between my phone and watch at will. This is very handy. Distance is great, better than any other bluetooth earphones I own. It is almost a problem as I can… Read more · 1
wander very far from my phone. The personal sound tuning is very good. The improvement from out of the box audio to the personalized tuning was very noticeable.
What they don't do so well: The squeeze controls are too sensitive. Any adjusting of the earphones causes them to trigger. This can be annoying. The adaptive noise cancelling is a bit intrusive. Suddenly, the whole background sound shifts significantly and, just as you're getting used to it, it shifts back. When it isn't adapting it is very effective so I hope a firmware update will do something to ease these transitions. The "spatial audio" is utterly awful, but it isn't a core selling point and you have to use the app to get to it, so it hardly matters.
What I would like to see: Aside from the controls and noise cancelling improvements, it would be nice if the app could tell you what codec was being used and if the health information was shared with Apple Health.
Overall, these are really good earphones, especially at the price point.
Excellent pair of earphones – Well execution Great sound App is even better You also get regular updates Price is competitive but not cheap and hopefully updates will continue Mic is ok but can be improved I believe Well done Soundcore Show reply
Customer service – I ordered online. The delivery was fast and the customer service team was very responsive even though it was Xmas busy season. Exactly what would you expect from a reputable brand. I will highly recommend. Show reply
Love every bit of it – Very good sound quality, it has a very impressive microphone, especially in noisy areas, small/comfortable in the ear. The press bottom functions sometimes don't work which I it hope will be fixed with firmware updates. Show reply
Where is the bass & volume – All the reviews were gleaming, it was supposed to be bass heavy & loud, just what I wanted. I feel duped, conned & I wasted my money. I can't find the bass, my airpods 2 has more on my android phone. The sound is way too treble focused, not even balanced. I can't get them loud enough and when I use noise cancelling, here comes some bass, but then… Read more
also they make a crackling sound in my right ear. I was conned by the reviews, I regret my purchase, for the money I spent, I would not recommend them ever.

great earbuds – great earbuds. great sound quality and battery life. love the design and breathing light. had lots of fun with apps. the bluetooth doesn't connect automatically when you open the lid sometimes. connect drops after using single ear few times. Show reply
Aussie buyers beware – The buds themselves are great, but I had a fault in the left bud early on, asked for exchange under warranty. Went back and forth with a bot for umpteen emails before they accepted the problem. Then they asked me to to pay for a courier and they wouldn't send replacements until they'd been received in Canada?! Despite all that, great sound for the price but support is lacking, which is probably where the cheaper price goes.

Better than expected – I needed something slightly smaller than the airpods pro which hurt my ears after a few minutes. These are about 10% smaller so much more comfortable for me. The sound is much better than standard airpods although call noise is worse. Noise cancelling is decent enough for price. Happy overall. Show reply
This is such a good product – Pros: 1. Really good sound quality out of box. Many reviews puts its sound quality to top of competition and I tend to agree with them. Trebles are as bright and detailed as some other most reputable Balanced Amateur driver IEMs. Base are punchy, powerful, but swift and does not muddy mids or highs at all. After running Hear ID to tune the sound… Read more · 1
profile to my taste (mine was to boost mids slightly to make sound signature more neutral) I am in paradise. They also have so many EQs to choose from and you can customise on top. I use to dismiss EQing and I thought it would usually make sound worse, but Liberty 4’s Hear ID and custom EQs changed my mind.
2. Very comfortable wearing. The bud is slightly smaller than AirPods Pro, and the double layer silicon tip is soft and comfortable.
3. Surprisingly great mic quality even in noisy environment. Much clearer than my AirPods Pro gen 1. It cancels out a lot of background noise and leaves my voice clear enough to be recognised. Finally I can make phone calls in noisy environment and does not get complaints from the other side.
4. Very good customer service. I raised a feedback in Soundcore app, and their customer support actually created a ticket and responded back to me in the next day. Not only did they addressed my questions, they also ensured me that my voice as a customer was heard. They later sent me a catch up emails and ensured that I was satisfied with their support. It is rare to have a company actually responding and caring for a customer, and I was impressed.
Can be better 1. Overall Noise cancelling strength is as good as AirPods Pro gen 1. In 2022 there are better ANC TWS in the market but they have their own shortfalls, such as sound quality or subpar call quality. However Liberty 4 ANC (I use Hear ID ANC + adaptive or manual ANC mode) occasionally can feel a bit confused on how strong or what frequency to cancel, even in manual ANC mode - Strong. As if there is an algorithm trying to cancel the most noisy frequency on the fly, but the algorithm is not perfected and certain noise occasionally gets “leaked in” for a few seconds. It does not happen often and does not bother me much. AirPods Pro and Bose QC35 however, has stabler ANC performance.
2. Occasionally hiccups when switching between dual Bluetooth connections. I have encountered a few times where computer connected to Liberty 4, I can hear computer sound, but computer cannot pick up my voice. Reconnecting Liberty 4 solves this hiccup. Also you need to manually select and connect to 3rd or 4th connection from Soundcore app or from device’s Bluetooth manual. It does not automatically switch to device #3 if device #2 is turned off or away. But I suppose all dual connection TWS products in current market have this common drawbacks.
3. In ANC mode, Wind noise reduction does not kick in until several seconds later. But once it kicks in, wind noise reduction is ok.
I wish in next firmware Soundcore can address or improve those drawbacks. However overall, considering the fantastic sound quality the call quality, the overall good enough ANC, and wear comfort and the price, I really think Liberty 4 is a very good product that worth recommending. I have not regretted buying these and I have not being using AirPods Pro gen 1 since I got Liberty 4.
Unhappy with it as there are a few issues which is why I haven't given a 5 star rating – 1st issue is it won't play sound from a movie when connected to my soundbar. 2nd issue is the ear buds control's via touching the earbuds don't work or are unresponsive 50% of the time. The main reason I bought these buds was so I could watch a movie on my tv & connect the buds to tv or soundbar & enjoy the Spatial Audio/surround sound that these… Read more
