Soundcore Sleep A20

Ive had these sleepbuds for 12 months and can say that theyve quite literally saved my life. Ive been living in the Netherlands with a very noisy upstairs neighbour on very not-soundproofed wooden floors who would like to stomp around until 3 or 4am. My sleep anxiety was terrible. Anyway i originally ordered the Bose Sleep buds but the sound… Read more · 1
faded out until it eventually stopped and i couldnt fix them. I purchased the A20's as a replacement and wow - the ear fit, the sound quality, the noise blocking - all superior in every way. The app functionality is also far better with ability to mix your own sounds. In the end all i use is one noise masking feature so Im not asking for too much. Ive also used them for audiobooks and its great how the noise fills your head with no interference from the outside.
The fit is also tight enough that they could be used for running, but as the noise blocking is so good, its potentially a safety risk, so keep that in mind. These are not earbuds for music fanatics, these are SLEEPBUDs so if you want bass you might want to look elsewhere - theyre not designed to sound like a club :D
Unfortunately, with my first pair a firmware upgrade completely destroyed the battery life (read about this on Reddit - tonnes of articles) so i contacted Soundcore and they immediately sent me a replacement with no fuss. Unfortunately again, the second pair are disconnecting/reconnecting with the app at odd times during the night and the switch of noise off/on keeps waking me up. Ive just contacted Soundcore again who are sending me a third pair completely fuss free.
So not only is this product amazing, the Soundcore support has been phenomenal and i will always appreciate the lengths they go to, to follow up and ensure Im happy with my product. Its this level of customer service combined with superior product quality that will keep people loyal to a brand.
One or the other (left/right) of these buds runs out of charge or disconnects from bt constantly.
I've owned two sets of these headphones, so why am I giving them a 3-star review? I purchased these as an upgrade from a $35 sleep headphones headband. Here in Australia, the A20 retails for around $200 AUD, so there's quite a big price difference. Was it worth it? In short, no, but with some caveats. Pros 1) Unlike the A10, these headphones… Read more
will last the whole night. 2) They are comfortable. 3) Connectivity is excellent.
Cons
1) Compared to my $35 sleep band (MusiCozy), the sound quality isn't great. Bass is almost non-existent. The sound is tinny (even with Bass Boost turned on) and lacks depth. I appreciate that the speakers in these headphones are smaller than in the headband, but I also own a cheap pair of Bluetooth headphones that don't suffer from the same issue. 2) They fall out in the night. Obviously, this depends on your ears as much as it does the headphones, and getting the fit right can be challenging. I'm not blaming Anker here, but this is a consideration, and I found that none of the supplied earbuds provided a great fit all night for my (small) ears. 3) The software that ships with the headphones is bad. I use my headphones to listen to rain sounds on YouTube, but the headphones will seemingly randomly switch to their own built-in rain loop after a few hours. This is called 'Sleep Mode," but even when it's turned off, it still kicks in. Further, the white noise sounds provided in the app are very short loops of sound, and so if that bothers you (it does me), you probably won't enjoy them.
So, those are my main pros and cons. The issue really is that for so much more than a $35 sleep headband, you'd expect these to be a major upgrade, and they aren't. So why have I bought these twice? Well, here in Aus in the summer, it's too hot to wear a headband to bed, and so you need something that doesn't cover your whole head at night. These headphones are the cheapest (not generic rebranded) wireless sleep headphones available. If there were another option, I'd use it.

I'm so glad I bought these earphones. They are lifechangers. They greatly help me to fall asleep, stay asleep and if I wake up during the night they make me fall asleep pretty quick. Before having these I struggled falling and staying asleep. Often it took me hours to fall asleep and if I woke up during the night to a noise, I could not fall… Read more · 1
asleep for hours.
Don't expect superb sound quality but that doesn"t affect how much I love them. They are super comfortable to wear all night even if you are a side sleeper. (I had very sensitive ears. I got inflammations before from earplugs)
The only negative is the phone app. It is complicated, some features could be better, some are straight useless. For example the automatic switching from playing spotify to the selected noise always switched while I was listening to an interesting podcast and wide awake. Would be an awesome feature if it worked. Tip to Soundcore: Fix it or get rid of it. The lack of this feature wouldn't affect how good they are for the purpose.
But hey! Once you set it all up you would rarely use the app. Just shove it in your ears and it automatically starts playing your custom made favourite noise and makes you fall asleep.
Excellent sleep masking – These are a significantly better product than the Soundcore Sleep A10s. Battery life is much better, they are more comfortable, and you get a little more data about sleep quality. The only quirk is that sometimes, they have not charged when I have popped them in their case. I have learnt to check that they are seated in well and that the lights are showing as they should.
