Caused way more issues than it was worth – Installed this on my Honda 50 4-stroke/14' smokercraft. No this does not directly bolt onto a Honda Motor. It required slight modification Due to the shape at the back of the lower end of the motor. Anyway because it's so long and sharp pointed had to cut a deeper V to be able to get it pushed forward far far enough to safely mount the rear… Read more
holes. As it comes out of the package the holes would have literally been right on the edge edge of the Anti-ventilation plate. (No the modification did not cause my problems.) Once it was installed it I was excited to get out and try itBut Winter hit. So I waited until springtime to get out and try it. ( Needless to say I couldn't return it) So the actual problem was when you hit higher RPM all of a sudden the boat would list Dangerously to the starboard side. It would literally put the gunnel right down almost at water level. Contacted the manufacturer and received absolutely no response. So, I contacted several reputable boat shops and all of them said they are kind of more or less just a marketing ploy. Several of them said they've had people with the same exact problem. So I've taken it off and everything is back to normal & boat works perfectly fine without it. This being said I would not recommend the product to anyone.
Sorted out my unstable and cavitation probs – I put it on my 75hp mercury which pushed the 5.2 Formosa. A tad underpowered maybe but had real issues with cavitation on high to medium speed turns. Undrivable in tight turns. Prior to changing expensive props I thought I’d give the SE Sport 300 a go, as I’d had good results with hydrofoils on other boats over the years. Super easy to install,… Read more
just 4 holes , bolt it on and away you go. It has made my boat super responsive to trim adjustments and removed 95% of the cavitation. Works great.
Doesn't fit – Will not install on a 60 HP Mercury 1995 three cyl two stroke. Would have to drill thru the cavitation plate. The 200 will not fit either because it is too small. Show details
Jury is still out – I purchased this model hydrofoil and fitted it to a Mercury 150hp outboard which powers a 5.5m Haines Signature.Reason for the purchase was it claimed to reduce petrol consumption and be quicker to the plane. I tried it out in all conditions and found very little change if any to the boats performance . I did get some cavitation when turning to… Read more
port and eventually I removed it. It didn't improve the petrol consumption and was not quicker to the plane. The product itself is well made and quite robust and easy to fit but if the boat and motor are trimmed correctly then this maybe an unnecessary purchase. It might be good for smaller outboards . Overall I was disappointed with the product as it didn't perform as claimed.
compensator – These foils will compensate for a boatie who doesn't understand his boat and lacks seamanship at the relatively small downside of loading extra stress on the mountings. There is a lot of people who gain benefit from using these foils.they help with porpoising and cavitation issues but so does loading correctly and correct powering of the vessel Show details
A quality product that 'does what is says' – So this will not solve every problem you have (prop slip, porpoising, cavitation, trim angle etc) although I have not had a boat yet that did not benefit materially from having these installed. For me the porpoising has been almost eliminated and I can trim the boat far more accurately and lower my one the plane speed. These really should be standard on new motors Show details
SE Sport 300 Hydrofoil You Need To Know – After a lot of reviewing I purchased this product. It is definitely a well made product but if you have an Evinrude E-Tec Motor (current model) you need to be aware that it does not work with the Evinrude Motor. The back holes of the Sport Hydrofoil if you are going to drill into the engine cavitation plate means you have to drill through the… Read more
cavitation Trim Plate which I don't think is a good idea. Also note that the Drill Free Kit will not fit the Evinrude engine there is not enough room between the prop and drill free kit to make this fit. SE should mention this on the product packaging (There is nomention at all of this on there packaging) they should also mention this on their website before you spend the money!! Good Quality Will not fit the Evinrude E-Tec engine

After some grinding and drilling new holes I got it to fit, I just hope it works.
