  FS 110 R

Durable machine – I picked up this machine cheap on as it was on consignment as a demonstration model at a few shows and have had this line trimmer for over 10 years now repairing and tuning it myself. It has proved to be a durable machine. Starts in 1-2 pulls after exactly 9 pumps of fuel plus choke which I turn off as soon as it fires. Everything by the book including fuel mixture at 50:1 with the designated Stihl 2 stroke oil. Its called a 4 mix engine as it takes a 2 stroke fuel mixture but it is a 4 cycle engine with 2 push rods 2 rockers and 2 valves - plenty of power which allows it to run even upside down. The only bug bear was recently I bought a new bump feed head for it so I could always have one loaded as they are real easy and quick to change. But the gremlins struck - the hex elongated center bolt has a different thread. Like whose idea was that or did I get the USA model where they are not metric yet. It still works by changing out the center bolt from the other head but that defeats the purpose slowing down the change over time

Purchased in at Stihl Dealer for $180.

Powerful commercial unit – I am a sole trader undertaking bushland management and gardening and have been routinely using the fs110 for 15 months. I have conducted work ranging from lawn edging through to cutting woody weeds such as broom, boneseed and Blackberry. The FS110 has good power and runs well with line up to 2.7mm as well as working great with a blade. Have lost some power a couple of times but cleaning air filter and very slight adjustment of tuning (undertaken easily by looking at manual) solved problems. Highly recommended brushcutter. perfect power to weight ratio, good price for commercial unit, reliable. probably a fraction too big for general gardening eg edging
