I now have to press down on the battery in order to make the chainsaw run. Is there an easy fix for this?

Anyone else having issues with the chain tensioner not holding position? Mine can be tensioned up and then after short term use the chain is loose again. Very loose.

Yes after a minute of cutting, the chain becomes Soo loose. I have stop cutting to adjust. It's getting ridiculous. Jim W.

I have a Stihl 140C battery saw. While I am very pleased with it the saw leaks alot of bar oil when not it use for some time. This has only started to happen in the last several months or so. The saw was purchased new 29/06 2020. It is used at our holiday cottage so only gets occasional use. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks, marcus in tasmania.

I purchased a MS140 saw that I really like. I have been using it to prune my apple trees. The only problem that I have had is, after using for a short period of time and set the saw down for maybe five to ten minutes while I move some brush, I pick the saw up to use it again it will not engage and 3 LED lights flash red on the battery pack. In the book it tells you to remove the battery and reinstall. After I do that, the saw will work. I have had it happen maybe four times. Something tells me this is not normal. I have used the saw so little I still have a full battery. I have to say I used it again today and it never failed me. Any ideas on my problem? Thank You JPJ

I purchased a MSA-140C nice saw, the only problem that I have with it is it seriously over oils the chain, what a mess. I know there is no external adjustment on these saws for the oiler but there has to be some type of fix for this IE a small plug that would go in the line with a smaller diameter hole in it to limit the flow maybe? Thanks for any help or ideas you can give me.

Depends upon the viscosity of your chain oil. If it is too thin it will literally splash off the chain in misty droplets. This is not necessarily a problem but you will go through a fair bit of oil on big jobs and need to clean the bar and outer drive mechanisms more regularly. Stihl recommend their own oil but it is still quite thin (excuse the pun).

1. Could you list what comes in the box when you buy this saw? 2. What is the correct size file for the chain?

Battery, charger and chainsaw skin. After consistent use since purchase I can confirm it is a perfect medium duty chainsaw - light, narrow kerf, easy to clean, just get the best oil available. The cheap stuff is too viscous in cold weather.

Thanks Jay Ess. I'm enjoying mine too. Excellent for smaller work and makes cuts so clean I plan on simply sanding the cut surfaces on the discs I'm cutting off 3 and 4" branches to turn them into coasters after oiling or applying some sort of finish. The narrow chain is a big part of the quality and effectiveness of this saw. I'm tempted to get the $40 chain sharpening device; I like the idea of the rakers being filed at the same time as the cutters. I've since found out the correct file size is 1/8th inch.
