I bought my little RMA 235 on the 19/11/25 and absolutely loved it. Perfect for what I wanted and it cut the lawn beautifully. Sadly it simply stopped working on the 03/01/26. It was returned to the retailer on the 5th Jan but now all I have is a torn off receipt of goods and a lawn that’s turning into a jungle. 7 weeks I had it - no offer of a replacement. Seriously Disappointed.

Purchased in for $658.

I chased up the retailer again this morning and they are waiting on STIHL to get back to them on how to proceed. I paid perfectly good money and you gave me defective goods. I want a new mower. NOW.

They have agreed to replace the mower and I’ll update this review once I actually have it in my garden.

13/01/26 I have my replacement mower and it works perfectly. Thank you

4 months on and my little mower is still doing a great job. We’ve even picked up a hitchhiker- local Willy Wagtail sits on the front catching bugs. I really love it.

Excellent electric mower – This is the best electric lawn mower we have had. Previously had a Ryobi for 10 years and purchased a replacement which felt flimsy and did not cut very low. The Stihl mower is light, well designed and seems easy to push than the Ryobi.

Impressive little machine – Pros 1.Very light when pushing which takes the strain off your knees. The lightness makes the mower very manoeuvrable around shrubs/trees where a lot of back/forth pushing occurs. I bought the unit because my Victa 82V is getting too heavy. An option was a self-propelled mower which I could well take up. While the Stihl is very light to push I was surprised it was a bit weighty to lift into the car boot.

2. Powerful. AK30 battery produced ample cutting power.

3. Battery is small and light and had a long charge. Yet to time it but seemed to last an hour at least.

4. Battery charging makes no noise.

5. Adequate-size catcher with a useful handle under it for tipping.

Cons I have only mere quibbles.

1. Coming off a Victa Briggs & Stratton 82V platform (which I've still got), I've had to get used to the longer battery charging time (approx. two hours).

2. Be useful if there were directions e.g. arrows, for the correct way to insert the battery until you get used to the configuration of the battery portal.

3. Charger seems a bit flimsy.

Conclusion

The official line is that this little lawnmower is to be used on small (tennis court size) yards. I have grass about the size of four tennis courts to mow but I don't want to get a ride-on lawnmower yet as I enjoy the lawnmowing experience. Can you still smell cut Eucalyptus leaves perched on a ride-on? So I intend to treat this little lawnmower carefully given the amount of work it will be doing and I'll see how it goes.

Update: Highly impressed with this little unit. She punches above her weight. If you ensure the grass is not too high or thick she'll reward you well. The batteries sometimes develop a memory but no big deal and it's lost after a re-charge. Only quibble is the inside of the flap has ridges (probably for strength) but they are difficult to clean. So after 8 months I still give her 5/5.

Update: so I've had this little mower for approx. 3.5 years and no problems whatsoever. Indeed the batteries seem to be as good as when I bought them. Mind you I have been careful with her. No thick grass-cutting and I make sure the height setting is such that the "turbo-charger" doesn't kick in and (possibly) strain the motor.
