Stihl RMA 443 C

Don't let the toy like plastic chassis deter you – We bought the RMA443C with a 36V 6.0Ah batter + charger from Pittwater Mowers @ Terry Hills . which was wet, without leaving any clippings. The catcher chute never got clogged either. A nice feature of the mower is eco mode which is continually adjusting the motor speed depending on the resistance of the grass. The 6 Ah battery is more than enough for your average 600sqm block. On our first mow we were left with 60% batter charge.

On first look you might be suspect of the all plastic chassis but it is very resilient and tough. Stihl have their own injection moulding facilities and from my observation the mower is as lightweight and tough as you can get. The mono handle is also a useful design element as it allow easy access to the catcher. The height adjustment mechanism is cleverly constructed.

I have subsequently purchased the mulcher upgrade kit, which replaces the single cutter bar with dual cutter bars arranged in a butterfly shape (best way I can describe it). There is also a mulching plug to be used in place of the catcher. The result when using the mulching plug was impressive. The dual cutter bar (4 blades) cut the clippings into very fine pieces which are then returned back into the grass. I was surprised that there was very little clipping residue to be seen.

Mowing is certainly easier and quieter. Thumbs up.
