ALDI Stirling Portable Air Conditioner

I bought this for my office. It works well if you properly vent and seal the exhaust hose to outside, and seal the room. It's very noisy when the compressor kicks in. I have to turn it off for video meetings. It's most efficient on cool mode at about 25 degrees. I've had it about 5 years now and it's still going. Show details
Noisy – Do not buy 2024 model (sold in Aldi special buys Dec 14) ! I am surprised no one has mentioned the noise. I expected some noise, but it sounds like you’re on an aeroplane! Cools but no better than a fan, still hot in 12m2 bedroom after blasting for 8 hours during the evening. Unless ours was faulty, it’s completely not worth it! Show details
Hi everyone I have been using Stirling 3.3k portable air conditioner with wifi control from last 4 years and my exhaust hose is broken now . Any idea where I can buy only exhaust hose . I went multiple store they don’t have size. Show details

WIFI APP does not work and Aldi support by their agent TEMPO is useless – The unit appears OK unpacking with good quality manuals. The WIFI App has awful reviews on iTunes App store (warning warning). Manual for WIFI connection does not correctly reflect the App and offers tow methods to connect. Neither worked despite repeated attempts, contacting the Aldi support agent Tempo who after over 30 minutes of broken… Read more
English and holds to contact a supervisor, requests for screen shots of the issue could only give me a case number. I have heard nothing back from them. I have checked the wifi channel compatibility, I can see the product wifi connection so the issue is the App which does not connect to the server not allow direct connection to the product. I have a number of other devices including an ducted A/C connected with their Apps in the same way so my system is fine. I have reported this to Aldi in a feedback form and will almost certainly be returning the unit to Aldi for a full refund.
My angel this summer! How did I live without it? – I have stayed sane this summer thanks to this little beauty. I bought it on impulse at my local Aldi store, right before a big heatwave hit. I work from home and during the day temperatures in my house can reach 40 degrees. It was not too bad to set up...I did have to do some DIY with the plastic window placement thingy and use lots of masking… Read more
tape and even put a screw in to keep it in place...but it has been worth it. Not useful for a big room or house, but perfect for a bedroom-sized room if you keep the door shut. I now work from a small room on hot days and with the added de-humidifying function, I find it stays very comfortable in all kinds of weather. Easy to move around from room to room, although I had to buy an extension cord for one space that was far from the power outlet, as the exhaust tube only stretches so far. The noise is not too bad and in fact it creates a nice white noise to camouflage noisy neighbours - bonus! It's early days yet, but with this little beauty, I never need to worry about renting a house without air-conditioning anymore. Thank you Stirling, I can breathe again!
Love it!! Aldi Stirling A008A-14C – Our old portable is 10 years old (NE, 2006 Choice Magazines #1 portable air con choice) and its going strong, but we needed one for downstairs. Our downstairs is open plan so kitchen, dining, lounge and entry/stairwell all open so a large area. We got the Aldi Stirling and used it Christmas Day Melbourne for the first time, 37 degree day,… Read more
kept us at a perfect 24 degrees all day.
We love it. It is so quiet compared to our old one, but as with all portables there is some noise because of the compressor and whole machine being inside instead of out a window, but it's not obtrusive. So much so it is now become our upstairs bedrooms portable.
We have evaporative air conditioning so only use the portables on 35+ degree days or when its extremely humid.
As with all portables just remember to start them early as its easier too keep the place cool to start with than the impossible try to cool it down when its already 40 degrees.
Our NE is super cheap to run so it will be interesting to compare the cost of the Stirling.
I've had hit and miss with some Aldi stuff, they are always lovely if I've had to return something, but we definitely won't be returning this one with its current excellent performance.

Overall Good Aircon – I am using this portable aircon in two bedroom unit. For me its working good. Brings down temperature to 21 in scorching heat of Sydney. it is bit noisy, but all portable aircons are. I am renting the place and cannot install other cooling systems. So just spend $400 and installed properly - Bingo! A cool place for living. if you renting, then go for it otherwise you can get better one. Show details
cool fast – this portable aircon works really nice, not too noise and control remote is a plus obviosly the room need to small about 30m2 I never had a problem till now with that over a year now. Perfect in a studio or oven garage. Show details
Effective, value for money – Does the job, easy to use, cheaper than most other portable air conditioners but still quite effective! Glad we purchased this as it has definitely helped to make us feel more comfortable during the hot days and nights. Show details
Negative reviews
Not worth the money – Faulty build as air blows out to the side not front on so you have to angle the air con sideways to get the air to blow where you want it. Very noisy & high energy consumption. Needs hose connected for water run out. Show details
Absolute CRAP – Do not buy. It does not blow the air straight out from the front or osculate, you have to put the airconditioner on the side because that is how the air blows out..The air blows sideways from the front that is very odd.....Bad design. Show details
If you want to cool a big room, Get a split System – These portable units aren't very efficient cause you've gotta stick the hoses out the door. The head extracted just goes back into the room via the hose. It does work a bit if you close all the doors. We find it does take the humidity out of the air but its nothing spectacular in a normal size room. In a very small bedroom with a small window it… Read more
is ALOT better though. Spend a few grand and get a split system if you want to cool a proper room. This thing is also pretty noisy. It still works surprisingly, even though it feels cheap and nasty, you do get what you pay for..

Aldi Stirling (PA19W) Air Conditioner Potential Fire Hazard – I received this Aldi Stirling (PA19W) air conditioner as a gift in December 2020 and worked fabulous in my master bedroom as far as cold air is concerned. I never used the humidifier as I didn’t want to be emptying the drain outlet and found it was super cool with the hot Gold Coast summer and no insulation in my roof. It blew out air to the left… Read more
only (no adjustment) and where I had to place it to reach the window meant it wasn’t blowing on me. Using it daily for at least 6 hours since December, unfortunately in March 2021 it blew up and I mean “blew up!” There was a sizzling sound, bright orange sparks coming from the bottom of the unit and a burning smell. Really frightened me as quite often I would leave it on when I’d go out and when sleeping on those hot nights, it was lucky my daughter saw what happened and alerted me. I received a full refund from the manufacturer and can’t say I would feel safe buying another one due to a fire hazard. I have a safety switch but it didn’t trip it.
Loud and air flow right not straight – Bought this on dec 12th 2020 its loud and stops from time to time with the cold air. If you want the loud noise to stop you'll have to put weights on the top to stop the cheap shell from vibration. It does however cool a 4x3 room. The air blows to the right not straight. Show details
Noisy and odd airflow – The Stirling ac unit i bought has a diagonal airdliw that seems counterintuitive to how you would set it up in a room and so doesnt seem efficient. it is also extremely noisy for me. we rang the helpline and got no help sadly. Show details
Complete Junk – It worked well for 2 weeks and by working well I mean it actually blew cold air. After 2 weeks, it makes all the noise associated with a cheap portable a/c unit but stopped delivering cold air. I have 2 other Portable A/C Units (different brands) that work extremely well. In terms of the Stirling 12000BTU 3.4kW Portable A/C - I wouldn't recommend you buy one - you can achieve the same result with a $50 fan. Show details
I can help resolve some issues!! – This is a great product. As long as you duct it PROPERLY, it’s air intake is actually from the side and back and disperses it out the hose! To stop the air swinging a certain direction there is a little switch/leaver at the bottom edge of the vent that goes side to side to change the air flow direction. It’s easily cools a 5 x 5 metre room quickly! Show details
A good unit – I use this in a large room - 70 sq metres - and it is effective. It brings the temp down slightly - by about 3 degrees - but more importantly it dehumidifies the space so the real feel is down by 10-15 degrees. It's important to have a well insulated space. You have to be able to keep external heat out and the cool air in before these will work… Read more
effectively. A lot of rental properties are not insulated and unfortunately a unit like this won't work effectively in those properties. Heat transfer occurs through windows but there are simple tricks to combat this eg DIY thermal blinds and/or bubble wrap taped to the windows. A portable can never be as effective as a split system but they are cheaper and they blow cold air unlike a fan.
Good aircon but very noisy – I purchased this aircon for the guest bedroom. It cools the room very well but takes time. The only disadvantage is that it is very noisy and I can hear the sound of the aircon in the next room. Good for a small room. The heating option is ok and not that great. It has 36 months of warranty on it which is good. Show details
Works on TV Remote Controller. So can not turn on TV and change channels or adjust sound. Portable ai – Works on TV Remote Controller. So can not turn on TV and change channels or adjust sound. Portable air conditioner also keeps change settings. So TV and portable AC can not use same area. Should address this issue before selling more units. My TV is LG 49" smart 4k UHD TV. Show details
Amazing Product. I love it :) – I bought this one couple of years a ago and believe me its amazing. No regrets except the one that I should have bought this product earlier :). Its Compact, not that heavy weight as you would think of an Aircon to be. Moreover it comes with 3 years warranty - what else would to need to take risk of $400 which eventually would turn out to be the best portable Aircon. I am very happy with this. Show details

Unreliable - 3 Year Warranty not worth the paper its printed on – I bought one, used it most of summer and suddenly it stops working. Shuts off after 30 mins, max. Aldi palmed me off to Tempo (the company that rebadge this POS) who had me deliver it to the "repairer" of their choice. He claimed it was working fine in his controlled and humidity free testing room. I get it back, and it's still malfunctioning… Read more
the same way. Aldi refuse to talk to me - palming me off to Tempo, who claim it's my problem to deal with. They actually suggested I either move to another less humid state to fix my problem, or buy an alternative air con solution - that's right, their suggestion for my warranty issue was to buy a better replacement product.
Spoke to a mate who installs and services Aircon, who looks at it and tells me that it's generating too much moisture and the mechanism that deals with that isn't working. Had the repairer turned it on outside a humidity free testing room they'd have seen that immediately.
So now I'm stuck with a POS nonworking aircon because Aldi deals with a cowboy company who refuses to properly honour warranties, or hire competent repair and service techs. Previously, I'd avoided buying from Aldi because everything they sell is rebadged $2 store garbage. I relented on this one because it was a bargain, and everyone kept saying how good their customer support and warranties was ("3 whole years!"). Will not be buying from them again.
Love it – In very good condition, works perfectly and I love how you can put it in rest mode and change it from low to high , very affordable price aswell very happy Show details
It didn’t work for my situation – I bought this for my one bedroom granny flat. Installed as per the instructions, fitted to my window, closed all doors and other windows and blinds in the house. I’m not sure if we’ve had a really intense summer in Sydney this year, but I felt like the aircon wasn’t doing much. I also bought a tower fan from Aldi and I felt like the Aldi fan… Read more
provided more relief than the aircon. I was determined to make this work, kept it for 30 days. Tried on different days, played around with the tube to see if different positions worked better, tried turning it on very early morning before the house was too hot. Unfortunately ended up returning the product with receipt and full packaging. I would like to believe that the aircon would work better in one single room, rather than trying to cool down a small granny flat. I need to point out that my house is not insulated so this could have made an impact on how well the product worked. I’ve never had any issues with Aldi products so I still believe that this would suit some people, just didn’t work for me. All I can say is im thankful for Aldi’s excellent return policy!
no modulating air flow – Why does the air flow... mainly to the right side only and there is no way of adjusting this, there is no modulation to change this? It would better if one could adjust the problem as all the cool air goes to the right only? There does not seem to be control over this? Show details
Adequate to supplement wall installed unit at other end of house – The most annoying thing about this air conditioner is the fact it blows air to the right of unit, Has up and down grill but no sideway direction so consequently the unit has to be placed in precarious position to direct flow. For a 2Kw unit you can't expect too much. Cools small room, spec says 10-16 sqm. For the few hot days it's adequate for relief. Show details
Alright for a portable – I’ve used this product overnight and it coped without issue. It’s very simple to use with minimal setting options When using it during really hot nights it’s not going to make your room feel like a fridge. It will cool it down a bit though but I found this to be the case with having the air con and the ceiling fan running together. It’s also not… Read more
the best for a bedroom as the cold air was hitting against the bed. When you turn the vents upward it doesn’t blow the air high enough to surround the room efficiently. Also the electrical cable is too short for a product that requires direct connection to a wall socket and not recommended to be connected to a power board or extension cable
Just bought installed in bedroom. Absolutely perfect – Cannot write full review as yet. Just bought.. But it's doing perfect job of cooling as text. Bit on the noisy side but l can get over that After enduring two sleepless nights earlier in week looking forward to great nights sleep. Easy setup. Instructions adequate. Will buy another for caravan. Show details
Does the job for a small room – I bought the smaller unit at Aldi ( they have 2 options of air con) I have been using it for the last week in a small room 4x3m. It does a good job st cooling the room and for the price paid $279 it is not bad. The only thing that needs to be mentioned is that the system is a bit noisey. So if it is for your bedroom it might be an issue for you. I can sleep with the noise so no issue for me. Show details
Couldnt be more impressed – Very quiet, very cold air, cools my one bedroom apartment. I use a fan to move the cold air around and raised it on a bookshelf for greater quicker cooling . It still worked as well on a 40° day. As effective as the brand name one my parents bought for double the price. Show details
Not perfect but not bad – These are always a compromise and I knew that before we got it. Basically they always draw more hot air inside by way of their operation and so cannot be efficient. This did an adequate job of cooling out lounge room over summer, not crispy cold like a split system but definitely better. If it runs for a few more years I will be satisfied with it. Show details
