How much a month is it to join and what are the fundamentals to it

PixiGT
PixiGT

Personally I wouldn’t pay for such a thing as this site, however it is very expensive for any level of membership when you pay by the month as opposed to paying annually (watch out for this if you do decide to pay for this site). So, unless you know which type of payment scheme you’re interested in choosing (paying exorbitant monthly costs for your freedom of choice to stop on relatively short notice, or pay for an entire year at a much lower rate [but imho still not worth it]), it’ll be anything between $84 annually (or if paying monthly at $20/month it’s $240 annually) for Basic, up to $180 annually (or if paying monthly at $60/month it’s $720 annually) for Plus. Sourced here: external link  near the bottom of the page. One thing that irks me is that they’re registered as not-for-profit, which I fail to see the entirely altruistic ethos within, and I’m quite surprised that the veneer of minimising isolation as a foundation of status holds…I think that’s what the free Limited membership is there for (as a means of justifying the minimisation of isolation/not-for-profit status that is not restricted by cost). Just my musings, however I feel it’s food for thought.

Hi Joe, Apologies for the delayed response, we weren't receiving notifications from ProductReview about these questions until recently so we had no idea you had even asked the question. Pricing for regular members is $84 per year for the Basic membership, and $120 per year for our Standard membership (we do have a "Plus" plan for community groups, but that's not something designed for a normal community member).

We'll note that the previous user PixiGT joined and had an altercation with one of the first members they met, and you can find our response to her review if you click on her answer. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, we'd encourage people not to judge based on a single interaction with one member, and give yourself a chance to find out what the community is actually about. The Limited membership is actually free, and lets you try out a small number of the activities before you decide whether the community is for you or not. You also get to come along to some of our Welcome events each month, which is a great way to hear not from Stitch, but from our existing members, many of whom are very passionate about the community.

As for what PixiGT said about the charity component of Stitch, she is a bit off the mark on that front. You can find out more about what the community does under wipeoutloneliness.org, including our assistance programs for members in need, and if you check out the Stitch Help Center you'll be able to find out info on how the charity works in conjunction with Stitch to achieve social outcomes.

Please feel free to reach out to us directly at hello@stitch.net if you have any questions.

Thanks & regards, Andrew from Stitch

Again gaslighting isn’t appropriate Andrew. My opinion is my opinion. You do not have jurisdiction to judge my opinion or discuss whether my opinion on my experiences is valid or not. It’s kinda creepy how much you like to stalk people who have left negative experience reports of your company. Luckily, I’m not easily intimidated my misogyny, gaslighting, or stalker behaviours or traits haha, so I surmise you’re plum out of luck there in your goals to discredit me. And to clarify: my experience was not an “altercation”, it was one of politely reaching out to a member who was rude, dismissive, aloof, and totally unrepresentative of inclusive practices (which is what Stitch purports it’s community to be) to me, which resulted in me leaving Stitch. Facts, Andrew, FACTS. And digging your hole deeper won’t change anything if you choose to attack and discredit me yet again. Enjoy your day, and I’ll stick with my opinions even stronger now that you’ve reinforced them.

I live in Hobart [Tasmania] and am wondering if it's worthwhile joining up, as it seems from all of the above reviews that Stitch is for mainlanders. I'd appreciate your views on whether I should join up. Also, the reviews seem to mention several different costs to join - could someone please clarify what the exact cost is per month? Thanks

Hi Nicola. A basic Stitch membership (Bronze) when paid yearly is $60 or $5 per month. It is all you need to start to see if you like it. You can attend 3 events free to trial it. I love going to different events from brunches, lunches, dinners, walks, exploring gardens, coffee and chats.. A lot happens on the mainland, but you can organize events in Tasmania. I am always surprised when I post an event and people put their names down. It is nice to go out with company and there is no reason to stay home 'alone' or be lonely. If you want to host or organize events, it helps to be a Silver member. $240 yearly paid in advance. This gives you access to more member profiles. Try it, plan a Saturday/ Sunday lunch or breakfast somewhere that you would like to go to, keep the numbers to 8 or 10 people and see what happens. I live in QLD and love walking, but it gets too hot in summer for walks. You have better temperatures in Tassie. Good luck.

I am an animal sitter who goes all over the country but mainly in the Brisbane area. Do you have people meeting up in Brisbane or other places other than Sydney and Melbourne.

Hi Siohban, Yes, we have an active community in Brisbane, and plenty of other communities around the country. If you log in to Stitch, you can change your search location to wherever you plan to be staying, and the system will show you the activities and members in each of those areas.

How does Stich decide a profile is no longer active? Many people leave such sites and never remove their profiles, so they appear as active even if they haven't signed in for months. This is a huge problem with these sites. I've seen 'last logged in' here and there, but not on Stitch.

I don't know? I cancelled my membership but still get messages daily which I just set to go to my junk folder.

I suspected as much. How many other people are there like Montechel?

Jay from Stitch said to me: "A profile is deactivated based on the request of the member. Not all our members are equally active some log in several times a day, while there are others who do not log in for several days. But they are not deactivated due to not logging in." That means there will be many not paying attention to Stitch any more, but with active profiles.

Hi Chris, Stitch has now introduced a feature that indicates how active and responsive someone is on their profile. You can learn about how this works here: external link  Regards, Andrew from Stitch

What is the monthly sign in rate?

Good question. I'd like to know that too.

Hi Ivan, Apologies about the delay replying to your message, ProductReview wasn't notifying us about these questions. The answer is yes, you can provide your number, but only once you know and trust the other person — usually this happens after you've met them at a group event, or had an extensive conversation with them. People who spam other members with their contact details in their first messages are most likely to be reported to Stitch, as this is a common tactic used by scammers, so the Stitch system generates alerts when it happens.
