The loudest kettle I've owned – Works well. This kettle is so quiet that you cannot even hear it over an erupting volcano. I swear... if you live in a permanent tornado you won't even know this kettle is on. It is that quiet that the kids on the next block can sleep through it boiling my cuppa. Once boiled a cuppa at 2pm and didn't get a single noise complaint from the worksite next door.  Show details

My Sunbeam Kettle is wonderful and has been so for years and years – I love my Sunbeam Peace &Quiet Kettle KE7500S. I have had it for years now and it has been wonderful. It is only slightly noisy when needing a clean, this is a good warning for this job needing to get done and to keep my lovely kettle working so well  Show details

Keep Looking! – I purchased this kettle after my old plastic kettle had finally died and I had just had my kitchen remodeled (my first new kitchen ever!) and wanted a stainless steel kettle to complement my shiny new kitchen. I quickly found that the Sunbeam Peace and Quiet had two major flaws. I live in an area with tank water only and boil all my drinking… Read more

water, then when cool, transfer boiled water to a jug. I had put a full kettle on to boil and went outside into the garden. Some time later, I came inside to find the kitchen full of steam, it's ceiling wet and dripping, the kettle boiled dry, and the door of the cabinet directly above the kettle to be swollen and split from the prolonged steaming. The auto cut-off had obviously failed (and no, I did not fill above the max level). The new kitchen was about two weeks old at this stage, so lets just say, I was bit miffed!

The other defect, is that the on/off switch is loose and the kettle can turn itself on, which when combined with the first fault, can be a problem.

The consequence of all this is that whenever I boil a jug of water, I stand there and wait for it to finish, then I take it off the base and stand/leave it on a trivet until the water has cooled sufficiently to pour into the water jug. For these reasons ... I give the Sunbeam Peace and Quiet Kettle a rating of ... 1.

Hasn't missed a beat! – Looking at all the other reviews I must say I am surprised. I have a red one of these that is 4yrs old, gets used 3-4 times a day and hasn't missed a beat. We have not descaled this kettle since we have owned it! Still looks the goods inside and out. Seems like we might be lucky. Bought one for my mum. Though as usual, she didn't mention that her… Read more

one leaked and replaced it with another brand and model which now doesn't switch off! Great handle. Easy to hold open and fill one handed.

Very quiet and fast – Had this for a year and very happy. Writing this review because I find some of the other reviews to be a bit suspicious. This kettle is very quiet and very quick. It seems to be well made and quite solid and certainly performs as stated by Sunbeam. No hesitation in recommending it. Quiet. Fast. Looks good.  Show 3 replies

I did love mine – I did love my Sunbeam Alur Peace and Quiet which WAS quiet and worked perfectly for almost 12 months. Unfortunately it has now started leaking and I can't find the warranty. Just checked this site before I bought a new one but consequently decided on the basis of all these reviews that I may have been lucky with mine and have now bought a new… Read more

Functions well, but is noisy – We bought this kettle because it was meant to be quiet. It is so loud that we have to crank up the telly any time someone switches it on. Other than that, I have no complaints. Ours does not leak like I've read on so many of the other reviews. Ours looks just as nice and sleek as the day we bought it - about 2 years ago. My husband is a tea… Read more

addict, so ours gets used about 3-4 times on week days and about 8-9 times on weekend days. We did chuck away the filter thingy after the first use as it was completely useless and did nothing but spray the water everywhere.

SO NOISY!!! – Due to the noisy operation of our KE 7500S, we purchased a replacement KE 7500S kettle & found it to be just as noisy after a few months. Mr Sunbeam - For the noise, besides descaling, what else can I do? There is also corrosion occurring around lid of kettle. This is not at all satisfactory!

Dangerous Sunbeam kettle – KE7500S leaks after a short time -dissatisfied with Sunbeam's offer of 30% off my choice of any model of Sunbeam kettle - why would I want another Sunbeam? especially when one reads of so many that leak. Sunbeam appears to be un-concerned regarding the safety of their products - it shouldn't be the responsibility of the retailer to sort this out. I can't find my receipt.

Leaking water internally on to electrical parts!!! – Lucky we didn't electrocute ourselves. Should not be for sale anywhere. Sunbeam should do an immediate recall and compensate all who have bought this product. And it is just as noisy as any other kettle - therefore false advertising!!!

Very disappointing – I bought this kettle because it looked good. It is easy to fill. It pours well. However..It is not that quiet and after about 12 months it started to leak from the base. I will try another brand

Very disappointed – I have had my Sunbeam Alur Peace & quiet kettle for just over 2 years. I did not purchase it as I am part of a shopping survey and used my collected points to order the kettle. My old kettle died last week so I unpacked the Alur, boiled the water and had hot water leaking out from near the water gauge. I was thinking of approaching Sunbeam to… Read more

Very noisy – I am so disappointed with this so called peace and quiet jug. it is hard on the ears because of the loud humming noise it emits. It is the worse jug I have ever bought. it should be recalled because it is certainly not what you are paying for.

Dangerous Product that Should be Recalled – This kettle is now very loud after only a short time. Since new, water boiled in this this kettle has tasted revolting. To me the boiled water tastes like industrial grade plastic. God knows what is causing that, but one has to wonder whether carcinogens or other toxins are leaching out of the plastic lid and water level display. This… Read more

Never buy Sunbeam again – I purchased this kettle approx 19 months ago and now it has developed a leak under the water gauge. for a kettle that retails at $89 is NOT a reasonable time frame. My last $20 kettle lasted me over 5 years, what kind of comparison is that! Customer service from a large company like Sunbeam is appalling. It was quiet it started to leak 19 months after purchase

Piece of junk – It's surprisingly noisy! I just measured it at 85dB! I'm not really sure who's idea of peace and quiet this is? Maybe a house full of young children who just discovered a bag of whistles? In any case it has now developed a leak, just days out of warranty. Awesome design guys. Noisy, expensive, leaks

Peace ? And Quiet??? NOT!!! – Do not let the line printed on the kettle decieve you, it is the exact opposite of what it says. The only time you will get peace and quiet is if the kettle is not boiling. We definitely have to pause the dvd when boiling water. because we used to use the good old fashioned plastic one before this. We have had this kettle for a few years and finally the base where the metal joins the plastic has corroded and started leaking. We have now bought a glass one by Bodum. We are happy with it so far. This new kettle is so very very quiet we have forgotten it is boiling. We have finally got a peace and quiet kettle.

NOISY. After a few years the base has corroded and began to leak.

Sunbeam Alur Peace & Quiet – Don't waste your money, after 3 days lids not opening properly, boiling noise is getting louder and from just reading other reviews expecting it to leak shortly. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF SUNBEAM. How hard is it to make a decent kettle these days? It would be nice to fill, turn on and pour with no headaches! It goes back today and wont touch another sunbeam product. Initial look Lid functionality and noise level

Quality issues but still a nice kettle – I am on my third Alur Peace&Quiet. The first two either developed leaks or became noisy or both and were returned for a full refund. still hide behind steely silence and red tape. It would seem that the kettle has a part with a very limited life expectancy which causes it to inevitably leak but you hide behind the "de scaling" excuse. SHAME ON YOU! I originally purchased my first kettle in May 2011. It proceeded to leak furiously through the base and around the electric charging facility one month out of the one year manufacturers warranty. Having paid $89.92 for said kettle I researched my rights and found that under Australian Consumer Law that the price of the kettle gave me an implied guarantee that the product should be of acceptable quality and provide service for longer than a mere year. Upon contacting Sunbeam the first response was an immediate shutdown as the kettle was out of manufacturers warranty. However I persevered with the rude and ignorant individual (whose name I could readily publish and clearly shouldn't be in customer liason) who all but declared that it was my fault. After referring to the non existent Warranty exclusion for not de scaling on page 7 I confirmed with Mr Rude that I had indeed de scaled the kettle as advised, yet the kettle still leaked. Only after referring to my statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law did he defer to his supervisor and request a copy of the purchase receipt in order to instigate replacement. Yes I received a replacement kettle accompanied by a curt letter stating that this new kettle would NOT BE REPLACED IF FOUND TO BE FAULTY! Guess what? Just over a year since we received the replacement kettle and it is leaking all over the power base. Surprise Surprise! Shame really - I like the kettle. Sunbeam what do you really think this is doing for loyalty to your products? Fashionable, Quiet, Efficient Dangerous leak, Sunbeam unprofessionalism

Disappointing – After 2 years of reliable but not very quiet service- to be fair we did not de-scale regularly - the lid of our Alur Peace and Quiet kettle began to regularly pop open when the water reached boiling point. Last Saturday we bought a new one and on the test boil it leaked at the base, onto our kitchen bench - no we did not over fill the kettle. … Read more

Took it back to the shop, and got a replacement. On the test boil on Sunday it twice popped the lid at boiling point, so we returned that one also and got a refund. Now looking at other models. Very disappointing because Sunbeam has been a good name in the past, and the Alur kettle has a modern and very functional design- but quality of manufacture and reliability are essential.

Deafening – Looks good but is so noisy my daughter has to stand right next to me in the kitchen to be heard. Started off OK but despite descaling it just got progressively louder. Having "peace and quiet" written on the side seems like some kind of black humour. It's now in the bin and have replaced it with a cheap, quiet plastic kettle. Life has improved considerably. Way too loud

Sunbeam Alur Peace & Quiet – Bought this kettle a week ago. Quick boil but 3 times now has had a loud crescendo coming from it halfway through the boil... My husband noticed condensation under the "boil" light when it's on. Will wait and see!! Should have read the reviews first but it looked really promising. Pours well and good to handle. Pours well. leaks and more leaks – For the second time in just 15 months I have had to bin a Sunbeam Alur Peace & Quiet Kettle (Model KE7500S) because it started leaking water profusely from both the base and the water gauge. fault. To be fair, my first KE7500B bought in 2007 lasted 4 years and five months before it leaked. The latest version failed after just 15 months, just out of warranty of course ! Given my experience, and those of many others who have posted here, I find it quite unbelievable that Sunbeam continues to manufacture a product with an obvious design fault that poses a danger to consumers. When I removed the kettle base, it was easy to see that water was trapped inside and sloshing around within easy reach of the wiring. My own attempts to seal the leak with silicone failed. Sunbeam's instruction booklet states that the company "is very safety conscious when designing and manufacturing consumer products". I don't think so. This website also notes that Sunbeam actively monitors the site - if so, why has it not responded to any of the recent posts regarding this product ? Perhaps there is no defence. I note in its recent half-year profit commentary, Sunbeam's parent company (GUD Holdings) attributed a 21 per cent fall in net profit to a decline in sales of Sunbeam products due to what it says is intense competition from cheaper and lower-quality home brands. I think the management of Sunbeam & GUD need to take a look in the mirror when it comes to quality. ps; Thanks to productreview.com for drawing this issue to my attention. It was quiet ... but only to start with it leaks

Dangerous! Hot water exploded from kettle! – We have had this kettle for about a year with no problems. Today I filled it just over half way, turned it on and walked out of the kitchen. Consumer recommended it but it is the worst! – I especially checked the Consumer magazine. I wanted a fast boiler, and quiet. They recommended the Sunbeam Peace and Quiet, so I obeyed.
