Kettle leaking at the base – Very disappointed with my sunbeam cordless kettle, that I purchased about two years ago, it leaks onto the electric base every time I boil water. I consider water lying under the kettle dangerous, this is an inferior product & would never buy or recommend again. I see many others have the same problem.  Show details

Don't buy!! – First kettle lasted around 10 months then began leaking from the base. Replaced under guarantee. Replacement kettle began leaking after about 18 months and so out of guarantee period. Looks as though I'll have to get out the 25 year old Russel Hobbs which does not leak.

Leaking at the base like everyone else on here – Fair enough this model is quite obviously faulty. These things happen. Sometimes the Chinese production lines get it wrong. I understand that. What I cannot fathom is a rude customer service representative that acts as though I was the first person to bring this issue to Sunbeam's attention. I would greatly appreciate a fair and reasonable… Read more

replacement or refurbishment of my $89 kettle that lasted 6 months.

It needed a recall as soon as the first 10 people complained about it.

Sunbeam has lost its shine ! – The electric kettle is about 2 years old and leaking water from the bottom. It's now retired after this short lifespan and has to be replaced. Quite disappointed. The amount of noise it made when heating water is not going to happen with the replacement. What is Sunbeam doing with its QA.................not much by the sound of it after… Read more

Leaks Very Dangerous – I had my kettle for about 1 year until it started to leak from the base. Its dangerous and could get yourself electrocuted from the water that leaks from the base. I am ready to purchase a new Kettle however I will never buy a Sunbeam kettle again. Very poorly made and cheap Chinese S**T! Ease of use. Poorly made and dangerous, could cause electrocution if not carefull.

Stylish & easy to use however clearly a manufacturing defect - leaks from base – Looks great, easy to use however clearly a problem here. Leaks from base well before I would have thought the useful life of the kettle would normally expect to be over. The big issue here is that Sunbeam has had this kettle 'made in china' to 'sunbeams specifications' the early and consistent failure (leaking from the base) of this model is a… Read more

serious blow to consumer confidence in the Sunbeam brand.

Also having water all over the cordless stand is something that freaks customers out as most people know that 240 volt electricity and water are not a good mix.

Sunbeam owes a lot of customers a big apology and a replacement kettle (that doesn't leak) and/ or their money back. Good luck. Stylish and really easy to use. Leaks from base.

Kettle leaks dangerously – Our 1st Alur lasted 6 months before it leaked over base. As I was not sure if the kids had damaged Kettle, I purchased a 2nd unit as I liked its ease of use. Two months later, the second kettle leaks worse, to the point we are not comfortable leaving it plugged into power. This kettle has major quality problems. I would not recommend this kettle… Read more

to anyone as it is dangerous in my opinion.

Very disappointing – I bought this expensive kettle at the Good Guys 1 month ago and it leaked from the base every time I boil water. Also it is supposed to be quiet but I found it quite noisy. Very disappointing product and over priced. Poor quality kettle. Would definitely not recommend this model. Water leak

Biggest piece of junk! – Purchased and exchanged this kettle 3 times. It leaked at the bottom under the handle on all occasions. There is a serious defect here. Cheap product and poorly made.Where is the quality control after all these complaints.Very dangerous when it leaks and I thought I was back at niagra falls. Steer clear of this one unless you have a boat. Design Noisy and leaks

Worst kettle ever – Died after 18 months, but good riddence! Noisiest kettle I have ever heard, so noisy that you can't even hear the television when it is switched on. Sunbeam have really taken a quality dive (this is not the only product I have had that has not lasted), so will not be purchansing again. Replaced with a Breville Smart Kettle, which has been… Read more

fantastic. It looked ok. Noisy, unreliable, stainless steel finish hard to keep clean, water level window gets calcium gunk stuck in it.

Do not buy this kettle!! mine was great for 12 months now water everywhere!! – Leaks water after 12 months, dangerous to use, rang sunbeam, they said I was their first complaint about this kettle "I think not" have 2 friends with the same kettle and same problem!" and because it's out of warranty bad luck, not a cheap kettle, I also bought the toaster to match, sunbeam not admitting there is a fault with this product!! well there is!! Leaking!!

third one – We are on our 3rd kettle ... No leaking problems. The kettle is very quiet to start with and as time goes by gets very loud .. in fact my 5 year old tells me he can't hear tv .. Ah well, we simply take it back every 6 months and go through the whole thing again. Perhaps sunbeam will eventually wake up and discover the 'quiet boil' technology does not last - not sure why? Quiet - to start with Gets louder as it gets older

Terrible – Don't buy this style until Sunbeam own up, be honest or make a better product. I phoned them and they say they have never had a problem. Other friends have had the same problem. They probably only last just over a year so people keep buying it so the Company can make money. Its expensive so would expect better than this. Don't get ripped… Read more

off!!! Nice design and modern This is my 5th Alur kettle. They have all LEAKED!!! You would think I would've learnt! But I like the design for my modern kitchen. A very bad design fault and so very dangerous with water all over the bench. If you don't close lid properly as it sometimes gets wonky, the kettle won't turn off automatically and there is steam everywhere.

Terrible – It looks like my experience is similar to other reviewers. Just out of warranty and it started to leak. Very disappointed, especially as other Sunbeam products have been reliable. Nice design and easy to clean. It's noisy and it leaks!

Good – I have only had it for a few weeks and is more modern than my old Russel Hobbs as long as I dont over fill it. It works fine. also got it cheaper than the big store buy going to the factory outlet direct. Looks great and is quiet. Got it cheaper at the sunbeam factory outlet store. None so far. Show 2 replies

Good – The kettle looks good and has easy access for filling with water. It is louder then I expected it to be. I thought it would be quieter like our old, white plastic kettle. So far it has performed well and it hasn't leaked from the bottom. I've had it for 1 year and 10 months. Great modern look Noisy

Terrible – About a month ago, I started to smell a burnt paper smell. I could'nt work out where it was comming from. I found out yesterday. I came into the kitchen to find that there was smoke bollowing out of the cut-off switch button. I dont care about the warrenty. I could'nt trust a replacement product. The price reasonable, and we have had sunbeam… Read more

products in the past. This product is very noisy, and I agree with what a previous reviewer said, we had to keep turning up the volume on the TV

Terrible – By the time the kettle was 7 months old the cut-off switch had failed 3 times. I came into the kitchen to be met with a room full of steam. This is a serious safety issue. Attractive shape. Large lid for easy access. The cut-off switch didn't always work.

Terrible – AVOID THIS KETTLE!!!!!!! LEAK? IT SHOOTS BOILING WATER!!!!!!! OK, we have a history with Sunbeam kettles. Our first kettle KE5500 I think, lasted a few months and then when bang. Replaced under warranty. Second one lasted 11 months then pop again. Calls to Sunbeam were met with slight indifference and no encouraging words that any other… Read more

kettles were better. Foolishly we bought a KE7500B Alur and upon giving it its first 'cleaning' boil it covered our bench top with boiling water. We have kids around and this kettle could have easily shot water out of the kitchen. Sunbeam, have you ever thought about research and development OR product testing? It may look good, but what does that matter, it spurts boiling hot water out the spout as it boils!!!!! If filled close to maximum, boiling hot water overflows out of the spout. No wonder it was on sale!

Terrible – DON'T BUY THIS KETTLE! Chances are it will leak and unless you have your receipt Sunbeam won't replace it unless you are lucky and it has been manufatured within the last 12 months. I purchased mine less than 12 months ago and was told it was manufactured in 2005 (3yrs old) Because this is obviously a design flaw and with it being a rather… Read more

expensive kettle I think it should be replaced no questions asked. In fact I would go one step further and say it should have been re-called as surely water leaking around electrical appliances is a safety issue. Good Looking Kettle Noisy and like the other reviews mine also leaked from the bottom of the plastic water level gauge.

Terrible – This kettle was quite expensive and we purchased it because we believed it was a higher end product and would thus last longer. We didn't want to keep contributing to landfill by purchasing products that continually broke down. Well, after 10 months of regular use the kettle sprang a leak at the bottom and would drain immediately all over the… Read more

bench when it was filled. Not only was this dangerous but it rendered the kettle completely useless. On a positive note, the place I purchased the kettle replaced it (with the same product) no questions asked and without the receipt. Looks very stylish Broke after 10 months of use but was replaced immediately
