I have a VS6600 and the locking handle has just snapped off at the shaft. Does anyone know if they are repairable/replaceable? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Beth, This replaceable. If this product is still in it's warranty period please contact the store you purchased it from or get in contact with your local service agent who should be able to assist you from our website attached. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you should find this external link . Thanks
Thank you. Should that have read "This IS replaceable"? It is no longer under warranty. Thanks for your assistance.
Hi Beth, Sorry typo thanks.
are there parts such as seals available
I'm not sure maybe try contacting Sunbeam
Hello s,jones, Unfortunately, this machine has not been apart of our range for a while now so we have completely sold out of spare parts. The seal for the newer models might fit this model but I can't say that for sure because I do not have a VS6600 on site to compare too. The seal model number for the VS6600 is VS66002. It looks like the seal for the VS7800 might fit: external link Sorry I couldn't help any more than that.
I have a Sunbeam FoodSaver VS5500 and the sealing strip does not heat so I can't seal the bags. Can the sealing strip be replaced.
Hi Salme Atherinos, So sorry - this part cannot not be replaced. The product itself is a non repair unit. Kind Regards, Sunbeam
Hi I have a sunbeam vs4400 and need to replace the sealing strip where can I purchase this from?

Hasn't been entirely impressive (sometimes evacuates all the air, sometimes doesn't), and now the locking clips that hold the lid closed have both failed. I bought this from 'The Good Guys' at Botany, Auckland, (they have now closed up shop in NZ), and I haven't even finished the bag rolls that came with it. Where can I get replacement parts, since it is probably out of warranty by now?
I have had one of these for some time and am very happy with it.
So either you have been lucky, or I have been unlucky. Either way, it doesn't solve my problem, and since Sunbeam haven't paid any attention, I figure that they don't give a damn. I also have a Sunbeam Espresso Coffee machine, now also out of warranty, and the steam tap on it is beginning to leak when closed. Thus, I am drawn to the conclusion that Sunbeam are manufacturing using componentry designed to just outlast the warranty period, after which they can play Pontius Pilate. Their quality used to be reasonable, but clearly that is no longer the case: I won't be recommending them, nor buying their product in future.
Hi Laing, we have the same problem. Were you able to find a replacement clip.?
No, I ended up fabricating a part myself: I never heard from Sunbeam at the time, and still haven't.
i have a food saver vac 5500 and my sealer strip has stopped working. where can i buy replacement parts?
I got in contact with Sunbeam they were more than happy to help.
Also if you look in yellow pages for Sunbeam in your area, they may be able go order one
Food Saver lid won't shut
I had that prob too... The grey lever on right hand side needs to be pushed right down. I thought I was going to break it... But nope that's how it works!!!!
I just got a sealer , it won't take the air out , just seals the bag ? Can u help ?
I recommend return it for your money back. And buy a VacPro. It will probably save you some money to.
Thank you I will
I have a sunbeam food saver, i have used it to save garlic & corrupts as well as other things, after sealing & vacuuming i put the items in the fridge, next morning i go to have a look and the vacuum seal is gone and the bags look like they are about to explode, the air is still in the bag so no leaking but its about to explode ????? can you suggest what I'm doing wrong?
Hi Sirley,
Perhaps the garlic is fermenting and producing a gas that is expanding the package.
Matt
Sounds like whatever you are putting in there is creating a gas. Exaggerated example would be to try and store bi carb soda and vinigar together. ( dont try this with your vac sealer )
Hi Shirley, It might be fermenting as the others have said. My problem was it no longer vac sealed any longer. In the mean time I got a new one, a cheaper one as i have had 2 sunbeams and both have only lasted about 12 mts. It is better to buy a cheap one for 12 mts.
I have Sunbeam Vac Pak 4400 only been used a dozen times, which sometimes sucks enough air out other times it seals and not enough air has been sucked out any ideas !!
Do what I did... Take it back for a full refund and go and buy a vac pro... It holds a bag roll at the back which you can feed it through and cut it to length using the In built bag cutter. Then seal it to make a bag using the seal only button. Put your food in it and vac seal it with the vac seal button. Plus when it seals it does a double seal. (2 seals about apart from each other) and it vacs right down much more than my sunbeam ever did..... VacPro
Try and get as much air out as possible and make sure you have the bags the right way up. Either way I would return it if still under warranty as it bound to fail sooner or later.
Hi Miaette, please contact our Consumer Support Team on 1300 881 861 when you are with your unit for further assistance.
I need a replacement heat tape .it's the white tape on the front of the unit that is supposed to seal.
Hi Ritacachia, the sealing strip is not available as a spare part as it comes built in to the unit. To discuss further please contact our Consumer Support Team on 1300 881 861.
ihave a problem getting my vac 550 to seal in the reviews people have had the same problem which say that it takes 3 to 4 min to seal . has anyone got an idea how to make it more efficient.
Dear Sir/Madam, The Sunbeam is poorly designed and even after swapping two units I still had the problem you have. I suggest you get your money back. There are better units available (NOT Sunbeam) from commercial butcher supply stores. More expensive but they will not give you trouble.
Best of luck

Hi 2013 randerson, could you please contact us on 1300 881861 to discuss further.
I have a foodsaver which my son sent from America, he told me to use my USA plug in Australia, and as soon as I did it blew a fuse. I have not even had one use out of it, so was wondering if there was anywhere that I can have it repaired. It seems such a shame to toss. Thanks
Dear Alley, America uses 110volt/60cycles power and Australia 240volt/50cycles power. The two are not compatible unless you use a transformer which can be expensive. The Sunbeam sealer has probably 'fused' because of this and should be discarded. You can buy vacuum packaging systems in Australia for less than $100, so I suggest you do that. Get one where you can control the amount of time the vacuum action operates. Don't go for the more expensive automatic ones as they always seem to have faults. I am not a big fan of Sunbeam.
Good luck!
John B
